I don't know why no-one talks about the horrible new angle of view in GT4P
(maybe it's just me) but it really sux! :scared:
I always use to play with the one where the car is near (sorry for my english)
because I think it's the best to see how the car stay on the track etc.. but in prologue I used the 3rd visual (when the car is a bit smaller) because the angle of the camera of the 2nd visual is too down and its impossible to see the track like GT3.. so in the moment we have 2 camera mode that sux (all two)

What to say.. I just hope that they do a camera like Colin McRae when you can choose the angle of view of the camera.

Tell me your opinions, bye!

p.s. If someone reply telling that is a stupid thread pleas don't waste your time with this thread and go read another one.

Hmmm, well I use the bumper camera. But if I remember correctly on the older GT games you could choose to have the camera fixed at the same angle (straight on) on the outside view, or with a slight degree of rotation when turning. Well that's the best way I can think of describing it. It's probably not in GT4:P because GT4:P's engine is about a year old now.

I was looking at some GT4 screen shots the other day, one of them was a shot from the cockpit of a green muscle car - showing the bonnet ('hood' for those in the US of A) but no windscreen frame or dashboard details, just what a driver might see. I don't know if this was just a 'replay' angle or potentially an alternative driving view?

I'm not keen on the 'bumper' viewpoint - nothing to aim with, and think the other views, although preferable are still not perfect - so perhaps this view would be a good compromise?

I know what you mean, an on bonnet replay would probably be my ideal choice if it was available. I remember aaaaages ago when they were going to release the first GT in Europe (It might've been GT2, I can't remember) they said they were going to add extra camera angles including a bonnet view, their was even a screenshot. When the game arrived it just had the 3 camera views (far, Near and bumper. :(

The view including the bonnet is one of the replay views in Prologue.

Personally I always use the bumper cam, find it allows me to judge the corner apex a lot better. Also with a steering wheel the exterior views just don't seem right.

since i switched to using a wheel anything but the bumper cam won´t work for me. with a ds2 the near outside view was ok for me (in GT3).

Pfff I´m still waiting for the view with a decent Dashboard. Actually i´m fed up with that bumpercam view. It says driving simulator. The only view that it needs is an incar view :D Cut out those external views and bumpercam views!

Hopefully then can include that incarview in gt5 with an addon of the smell of the new interior :dopey:

and perhaps an 'air-freshener' shop where you can choose between the little green 'pine trees' or orange smelling 'traffic' lights

Don't forget the uber special 'GT Emblem' shaped air-freshener that you get for Golding all the S Licence tests.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet (almost certainly yes, I'd imagine), but there is a 5th camera view in GT4P - the three views you can race with, Bumper, Near Chase and Far Chase, plus two new ones in replay mode only, Hood and Road view... If you scroll through the modes in a replay, you will notice a view that is literally just about road level, (i.e. much lower down than even the bumper cam)... wouldn't be too handy to race with though...

In the replays you can also do a kindof Wing mirror camera too... Facing forward and backwards... that would be pretty weird to drive with!!!!

hopefully the inclusion of the bonnet/hood view in the replay means it's coming for game play in GT4... i use the bumper cam right now as in car is the only way to do some serious times.

Yeah the other cameras are too lose on the car for you to be able to judge what the car is doing instantly... thus reducing reaction times...

I know the bumper cam its more real (and cool) :)
But I can't drive with it... expecially with a FF car (you can't see if the car loose control etc..)

Get the wheel then youll feel it!

Good idea to make this remark, I hope PD reads it!

I use to near view, because the far away view makes me sick of "swaying through the air from left to right behind the car" I preferred the far away view as in GT2.

Another possibility is to set the near view a little higher, so that you see at least where you drive. It was done in GT3 for one car : the Suzuki Escudo.

i actually feel more control with this view... less tendancy to overreact to sliding or losing the rear end and easier to take corners properly... especially in the license tests for the gold scores.

Yeah, because of the giant ass wing on the back.

The new bumper cam, with the raised camera view is much more realistic, and similar to a view out of a real car. The old bumper cam view felt like you were driving the car fixed to the bottom of the fromt bumper.

Personally I cannot stand any view, other than bumper cam. The bumper cam, IMO, gives you a better feeling of what the car is doing, and allows for quicker reactions. The out of car views tend to give you a detached feeling, and you lose the sense of driving a real car.

Yes phantasm, you get it! I use DualShock and I don't have problems to get golds (In Prologue I have 6077pts. 46 Golds : 00 Silver : 00 Bronze)
But anyway wich is the best wheel, guys?

Logitech Driving Force Pro.

Yep bumper cam is the best (and most realistic) we have at the moment. But we need something better. IMHO the 'bumper cam' is to low down near the track, moved up about a foot or so would be perfect. Interior views (that show a bit of dash the top of the wheel etc.) are useless, when I am driving all that is only really in my peripheral vision, I am looking out of the windscreen directly at the road. Maybe if it was on a huge ass wraparound screen it may be more realistic, but the TV can only show 'part' of the view, so it shouldn't be cluttered up with useless 'eye candy'.

The problem with the bumper view or a potential dashboard view is that while in a real car you can turn your head and look around, there is no such option in any racing game. Therefore the bumper view is actually very unrealistic (Though it's a great rush when you're inebriated). Therefore from a fixed vantage point, a more zoomed out view like the rear camera is actually more realistic, because you can see more of the road.

And people use the escudo seriously anyway? Er, no. The only thing the escudo is useful for is the super speedway enduro and like the wind.
And for Pikes Peak ...

and ... I wouldn't speak about "using" it btw, not to win races and collect money or whatsoever, but it is a different car, and I enjoy driving it once in a while.
It even really exists, something you can't say of all the cars in GT.

Yeah, because of the giant ass wing on the back.
The reason is that you don't see, because of the wing indeed, but this solution would be a good one for other cars, like the Honda Odysee, with the giant ass roof ;)
