I still think this track will be highly entertaining. Amalfi should make for an interesting course whether you are racing with a Mini or with a Jaguar XJ220 GT Racer.

Arwin: I just had my first look at the new Capri video, so I haven't compared it yet to the map I made, from Michelin. (I first posted it in the wrong thread...)

It was based on the switchback found in this magazine picture.

The coastline, harbour and corner are right, but for the rest of the track, I'll have to use the video, later.

Cheers,

MasterGT

I'm still undecided myself ... Capri is still a plausible candidate, because that whole area is called 'Amalfi Coast', and PD calls Monaco 'Cote d'Azur' as well. And Capri is a location with about the same jet-set status as Monaco at that. So you could very well still be right.

But then again, I've seen a few pictures of Amalfi and they look a very likely candidate. The most confusing aspect is that the coast line as well as the city are both called Amalfi and pictures you look for can therefore refer to both the city and the coastline.

Edit, just been looking at map of Amalfi, and Capri does seem to be the more likely candidate ...

I'm concerned about Amalfi / Capri.

The rally tracks don't have any pit lanes in Gran Turismo because they don't need one. Much the same as Amalfi, I couldn't spot one on the lastest videos released. A rally track in GT usually has two cars racing on it and due to Capri's spectacular graphics I don't think it was designed as a race track with six cars. I haven't seen a screenshot yet with more than one car on the track at one time. So it has lead me to this question - What kind of track or mode is Amalfi / Capri based on? Rally - Time Attack Rally? You decide.

I doubt you'll be able to find the .wmv's from anywhere.

My advice, well this is what I did.

I Downloaded a program called HiDownload and it will download the streaming file at it's highest encoding. Program is 3.6mb each movie is about 6-7mb.

Go DOWNLOAD > ADD - Copy the URL, eg http://www.playstation.jp/ch/pv/asx/mv_gt4_hongkong_dv.asx It should then automatiaclly proceed to download the .wmv streaming file inside it. Or you could shortcut that and insert the mms:// protocol address: mms://stream.playstation.jp/scej/mv_gt4_amalfi_dv.wmv

Just change the end file names to:

1. mv_gt4_amalfi_qv.wmv
2. mv_gt4_hongkong_dv.wmv
3. mv_gt4_hongkong_qv.wmv

For the other three videos.

Check my PM's I'll send you something.

Seems that those Capri movies are the same.I downloaded both but they are the same. Both are onboard views.

went to italy on holiday and on a day trip to asissi, came across the track in GT4 Prologue. blew my mind. you go around the right hand bend under a arch , then into a chicane! the chicane gave it away, as at first i kept hitting the little wall on the inside bend.

roll on December the 3rd 2004.

Excellent job, no doubt, but I still think that there is NO artistic freedom there.

OK, there are some changes but they are so minor that they just do not compare.

Although, we are talking about the same thing with different words: you want to crtisise and I want to congratulate.

Still - great job there!

YES I agree have a look at these pictures I took some months ago at assisi and at the similarities with the game
stay tuned
