But I can't see a signficantly increased number of ppl joining GTP because, mostly likely those who would actively participate and be as geeky as us, they would have bought it on the first day, like many of us, including me.

Got to admire your patience in waiting for the price to come down, but have to warn you that to get the most out of this game, you aren't going to complete it in one sitting, one week, or even one month!!!!!

To get the most out of this game, you basically have to play it until GT5 comes out, providing you're not glued to the TV already.

Yes, I would've actually bought the game for $50 if i had a ps2, but i had to wait til now to get the PS2. Now i'm gonna get PS2+GT4 for ~$160. I plan on playing this game well after GT5 is released as I will most likely not be able to afford PS3. I hope the GT4 community is still strong in the future so I have some dudes to talk to about it.
damn gran turismo I work 75 hours a week and still can't seem to put it down .... I should have waited to buy bought mine for $50 4 weeks ago...

Mine neither... they gave up on Gran Turismo after I wiped the floor with their a$$e$ when we all had GT3. 
This is good news... if they release a GT4-PS2 package, I might just replace the old one... (don't really care if the PS3 is coming soon... I'll get it either way).

Yeah, this game deserves to be on the greatest hits. Its the greates racing game EVER! But I don't like the cover though; it looks weird. Anyways I like it with the black banner up top because it shows ppl that I bought the game before it hit the greatest hits, which means that I waited! Maybe doesnt make difference on some people, but I always like to get it without the greatest hits.

lol, sounds so familiar to my situation. In fact, I started playing GT3 when my friends recommended I pick it up when it was "Greatest hits." That was my first GT experience, and I got addicted. From then, I started to perfect my driving and beat all my friends by numerous 10's of seconds (ex: 10, 20, 30...). They kind of stop playing me in GT3 after that, and kind of lost too much interest to buy GT4. Maybe I should recommend them to buy GT4 and go easy on them...for one race.
Hmm...I wonder how many people (like GuileVsGuile) have been waiting for the price to drop. They're going to run out and buy this, probably fall in love with the game, find out that a $50 online version will/might be coming out later this year, and wish they had waited longer...

Well, 1 of my friends borrows my PS2 time too time, and he plays GT4 alot along with MC3. He loves the game(so does his dad) And my friends i just hang out at school, im to lazy on the weekends to bother going to there houses and play GT4 with them ...FaLLeNAn9eLthat has GOT to be a sin
