seems like this is not major news ! I think it is, if someone could translate the japan beta test info or as much as possible, should give some good information on what the online plans are for the game that has online mode.

That says the beta service will be from July1st to Aug31st

My bad - my Japanese knowledge is very limited at the moment. Still doing like high school Japanese, which is like not even enough to read a kindergarten book in Japan. :nervous:

ahhhh I wish I was still learning Japanese - good luck with that though, I found the basics were easier to learn than Spanish/French and the HS languages we got taught here.

Did everyone all of a sudden go crazy? It's a beta, testing for PS3's online service, which obviously the PS2 is able to connect to, since it's broadband only. It's just a test for latency and playability, make sure it's damn near perfected before Kaz includes it in GT5. You people need to relax some, there is no GT4 Online coming out, just wait and relax. If they even release GT4 Online it's only if PS3 doesn't break out of the gates sales wise.

I don't think anyone really cares which console it will be available for or whether its a beta version or final release. The thing on everyones mind here is how soon can they get their own hands on it.

No offense, but why would a release date span a couple of months? ;)

I’ve had the option to purchase the online edition for a not unreasonable sum, though unless we stumble on evidence of some tasty inclusions (Valencia, the 2005 LMPs etc) I’m going to give this one a miss.

No, it'd be pointless buying a copy if you live anywhere but where you can conect to the servers the Beta is running on, and I doubt you'll be able to anywhere but in Japan.

any concrete info on this...?

PD is currently beta-testing with an online-capable adaptation of GT4, but has said nothing of releasing it. That's all there is.

Keep an eye on this page if you're desperate for info.

WHERE are they selling it?!! I've tried looking for anyone selling a beta version but can't find one, not even on ebay :nervous: . I'm very interested in buying if they have anymore!!

I think the beta testers in japan will be able to participate in a race on the Sarthe circuit online at the same time as the Le Mans 24 hour, or just after it.

On initial load of GT Mode in GT4 Online you are presented with 11,000,000,000cr, and a garage of 711 vehicles—the Japanese total. The game features usability enhancements of later GT editions such as the ability to switch between A–Spec and B–Spec mid–race, change the units, and efficiently skip to the next license test by way of the “Next License Test” button.

Interestingly, as with TT you can now export single replay files via USB—though the likelihood of being able to find someone to share them with is rather slim. It’s currently unclear whether any of the tracks have been replaced with their updated TT counterparts (Fuji especially), considering this enhancement. I’m also trying to investigate whether any of the license tests have been adapted to their Western conditions, as compatibility with the initial Japanese NTSC–J title is apparently a no show.

As much as I can gather, the Playstation Pescarolo C60/Judd ‘05 and Playstation Audi R8 Team Oreca ’05 are not to be seen, as well as PAL + NTSC U/C, Korean and follow up collaboratory vehicles.

I believe the mention of GT4 Online in the article highlights that the news section in the Online Mode will be able to be used to check on race reports throughout the race—my skewed interpretation of Babelese…

What use would it be if you could buy a copy? The games running in an online games network in Japan, you won't be able to connect to anyone else online.

so, afer all i got my internet back, and the first thing i saw, was that thread.

after all there are some real moves on GT4 Online.

Cant wait to get it !:D

Are you sure? I've had quite a few betas from Japan and America and they've all worked fine before.

I'm pretty sure, GT4 online is only being tested on a Japanese network, however you might want to hear that from someone else to be as sure yourself.

I hope you can use a head set for this game.I bought all the PS2 online stuff waiting for GT4 and then when it came out there was on online. The only game I played online was nascar2004,now maybe I'll get some good use of all the equipment I bought.

The beta test should have ended a long time ago, and nothing will come of it for the PS2. PD was just experimenting with online, and will use what they learned in making GT5.
