GT4 WRS Week 111 : Ice Ice Baby

Jerry suggested I post WRS 111 as a farewell to the WRS in my moderators role
I have not really been needed in this position as Jerry has been highly efficient in his WRS Admin role!
and was never flustered on any occasion that required I step in to help him out
Anyway here's the race that Jerry arranged and I put forward to you now .. I have tested it out and it's a blast!
I just hope you enjoy it also 👍​

Race Details:

• Mode: Arcade Mode > Time Trial > Dirt and Snow
• Track: Ice Arena
• Make: UK > Lotus
• Model: Motor Sport Elise '99

Vehicle Specifics:

• Power: (+20%) 241hp
• Weight: (-10%) 630kg
• Driving Aids: N/A
• Top Speed: N/A
• Transmission: Any
• Tyre Type: Default - SNW (Snow Tyres )

Week 111 Race Specifics:

Stay off the walls 100% no contacts! .. It's not impossible


Standard Clean OLR Rules:

• no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
• if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
• no hybrids
• no cheating of any kind
• nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
• save your replay ('Save Replay' icon)

Thread rules:
The following info cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on MSN or via other private conversation methods):

• lap time
• any information which can be used to infer lap time

Submission:
All submissions must be sent by PM to (Sphinx):

• you can submit only once per race
• please include in your submission PM your division, name and final lap time
• deadline is Tuesday 12th June 6pm GMT
• if you are unsure of the deadline try this site

Time verification:
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted:

• all gold times each week will be required to submit a replay for verification
• any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
• when a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide a replay before the next race deadline
• failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from WRS results
• video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified

This race = pure evil. Then again I can do it over my first weekend at home for the summer so I can put forth some real effort! Can't wait to fail at it, er, try it out...

Just tried a few, excelente, I like it 👍 I found that using 1st is no good and staying in 3rd often is ok with me.....

I thought that a mid rear would be a bit harsh but its easy to turn with the throttle and the brakes are just right.

regretfully i must decline for this week as well. historic fact: first time in a long time that this ***racer will not submit for two consecutive weeks in a row.

Hey, had a quick little session with this delicate combo and managed to accomplish a lap time with splits of:

18.602
36.094

time submitted. quick run down, use 3rd gear for corner b4 start, gear 2 for first sweeper maintaining a speed of around 52/55 KM/H (drift angles for this lap were pretty small, too much and u'll wheel spin and/or bog down in revs)untill its safe to power out, lift for the left kink, and then down to 42/45ish for the right hairpin, lift or tap the brakes depending on line and speed coming out of the hairpin for the left/right section, brake for the tight left as u take the right component, 32/33km/h, and again same speed for the right, full gas as u turn into the left sections, tap brake down to 78/80 as u ride the left mound for extra grip,prepare for the left sweeper55ish, then hit 3rd gear b4 the tricky right kink, utilizing rumble/mound to maximise ur turn in angle for the last left, 78/80ish 👍

yep , addictive little combo, not frustrating at all, had a nice finish also to the lap, which is essentially the trickiest section to nail as thats when the nerves kick in

Seeing as how it is summer time and very hot were i live this is a nice cool drink I've had a 37.3(smacked the last outside wall), two 37.4( smacked the last outside wall once and put training wheels on the other). I'm not sure but I think a 37.2 or so will be good for me.

Thanks guys for the kind comments 👍 I have not had a chance or a need to do anything moderator based on GTP or the WRS as the other mods and admins and Jerry behind the scenes have everything in hand and are totally efficient and leave new stand in mods like myself pretty much feeling out of place! .. which is a good thing and shows they were chosen for all the right reasons

I wont be leaving GTP btw as I'm basically part of the furniture and have been since way back when I'll just be going back to plain old Mr P but with the advantage of not having to mind my P's and Q's in every post but totally within reason I hope

Ive had a quick go at this, and i like the fact that the laps are over in under a minute, meaning i feel happy to lap instead of restart...

My best T2 was a 36.9 something, but that happened once, and ive hit the walls trying to replicate it, more laps tomorrow i think

One question though:
For WRS 111 why not use an Elise 111R

hi there, couldn't resist another shot at this blast of a combo, hit the limit i feel with these splits:

time resubmitted (past history of non submissions is why i submitted the first session lap time.)

same story for lap description, always look at ur speedo during cornering, it adds another dimension to ur driving

No can do ice. I use a Dell projector instead of a TV (don't have a TV), and it just makes a hash of the contrast - it's like driving with snow blindness, I can't see an apex for the life of me.

Think I'll get TT out and have a play with that.

For a very brief moment in time I thought I actually had something remotely fast a 37.043, but low and behold one slight tap on the high speed sweeper(needed the logger to see it) ..... I have a clean one with a 37.2xx
