What?

Someone explain that to me?

Do i get a dunce hat for asking my previous question too? :dunce:
About the submitting thing?

:irked:👍

I'll explain it to you but only if you don't do it. :nervous:

When coming around the big right sweeper before straight and start line. Stay to the left and keep 2 left tires on the grass and 2 right tires on asphalt all the way down the straight. It does make you go faster and should not. Doing this on all three laps will net a better time.

As Mr P stated it is very silly and incorrect physics.

Interesting format for my first go in D2. 👍 Hopefully folks will take a liking to it & it won't be the last of its kind. Having done 7-10 lap races in a Tourist Trophy series, I know how challenging & nerve racking it is to try do keep the late laps clean but still fast.

First set of decent splits for me...
0'21.578/0'42.908
0'21.677/0'42.899
0'21.545/0'42.989
With no major grass mowing. :sly:

hey, its a nice idea, certainly way better that having to lap with the ai:tup: heres my t times after a short stint, the grass trick is embarrasing for the makers of gt4, and i wont be using it:tup: xx.245,42.910 xx.355/42.455:crazy: xx.422/42.125 plenty more left, 1st lap was quite solid.

after 2 or so hours at this very nice combo, completed

t2 only, cant be ****ed looking at t1 but there around xx.050 each lap

.822, .754, .799

shift at around 7000 revs, gear 6 shift at 197km/h, hit line at 224-225km/h, first turn, brake down to 3rd, downshifting at 7500 revs, hit gear 4 on the exiting rumble/pavement, use inside grass to maximise turn in angle for the blindish chcikane section, 152km/h for the right, then brake as u turn into the double right, at 160 as u skip over the first rumble, then to 3rd and cut the grass as u check ur speed, should be around low 90km/h over the right, then u must utilize the inside grass a little for the tight right, at 64-67 km/h, smooth exit, then the right at 128-130km/h in 4th cutting oveer grass entry and exit, switch to 5th gear for the little downhill journey if ur carrying alot of speed, last corner, 112km/h 4th gear. had some dodgy last scetors so i'll for sure tidy them up later

Why are we being given race instructions/rules by sjaak, but having to submit to Sphinx?

:irked:👍
Sjaak's on holidays perhaps as of next week.....

AMG.

I like the concept of this week's race 👍

First try:

21.744 - 43.136
21.651 - 43.398
21.543 - 43.197

Hi all! I wish I could play but my job will have me away from my PS2 for a while. I'll still be able to follow what's going on though. That week 117 looked like it would have been fun. Oh well...:( In a while I'll be back on the track again. See ya.👍 SS Racing

Anything I can do to avoid understeer with this thing? Or is it the DFP that induces it? 'Cause I'm not enjoying this much, even though my times aren't too bad. It just doesn't seem like I'm travelling very fast.

Try unplugging the power cord from your DFP (after the game is loaded). Without the FF you can turn in quicker and sometimes it helps with my lap times if just reducing the FF isn't enough. It will make things a bit twitchy, but you get used to it.

Booted the middle of the 2nd lap a bit, but the decent 1st & 3rd laps still allowed me to take a chunk off my previous best total...
0'21.677/0'42.595
0'21.740/0'43.117
0'21.683/0'42.663

Ok Mikey is back with some splits .103 quicker over the total three laps than the ones i lost :D:D

21.187 41.976
21.169 42.010
21.342 42.206 dam nerves got me here and i didn't go deep enough into the first turn. As you can tell by my t1 split.

Mike.

Who thinks we should put the three laps in the leaderboard and only them that post the three laps and al the digits in the splits??????
I vote yes as i could be second on there right now but i really third over all????
Note new idea we could just post the total of our t1's and t2's as so, 1'03.698 and 2'06.192

had another attempt at it and improved overall but had a slow last lap, 1st 2 laps were very fast though:tup:

xx.050 xx.660
xx.071 xx.710
xx.102 xx.003:indiff:

now with the understeer problem, certainly do not unplug the cord as no ff means no feeling whatsoever of the car, but i always have this setup with the dfp

steering-professional
feedback strength- strong
aids- none

and press select r3 right paddle (i think) to reduce the feedback to 60 percent, seems easy to control, and when ur driving cars like this, the more u turn the more it understeers.

Turn in late and try to get a late apex. At the beginning of the turn, keep the throttle released and position the car on the right line. Then apply half throttle and wait with going full throttle until you hit the apex.
You'll notice the car will turn when you release the throttle and doesn't understeer when you dose the throttle.

When smooth driving is not your thing, you can also brake really late into the corner, go a bit wide, release throttle, make a tight turn and then exit the corner full throttle. This only works with short, tight corners. For long and fast corners, half throttle is the only way to go...

I hope it helps you a bit 👍

Leaderboard Updated!

Mikey, Steven and I have put our ideas together for Luxy.
Apart from the standard format, I tried to include all three lap splits.
Done in two different ways each has advantages and disadvantages.
Though both formats will need all three T splits to be posted if you want to be on the board.

Now the choice is yours. 'A' or 'B'. Post your choice or pm me.

If there are insufficient replies I will leave it in standard format with just
the one set of splits from your fastest of the three laps.

We have done format A in the past, or something like it I say we should stay with that :)

Jerome

Format A, 👍 and while you are messing around, can you change me to DFP on the leaderboard when I submit this week?

now with the understeer problem, certainly do not unplug the cord as no ff means no feeling whatsoever of the car

If your wheel is not bolted to something fairly heavy/stable, a lot of FF moves the wheel all around and can make it difficult to drive properly, mostly in tight turns or cars with a lot of downforce. The only table I can quickly set up and take down is barely up to the task but I deal with it.

Most of my laps are run with the FF on 60% and the settings you mentioned. Towards the end of a session, when I know when and where to turn, I'll turn it off and see if I can improve. By then I'm used to the "feel" of the wheel and compensate for the lack of feedback.

I don't believe I've ever set the wheel up on a proper table and played GT4. :grumpy:

Wow, thanks guys. I'll give it another shot. I've obviously never read my DFP manual, I didn't know about the 60% trick.

Um, isn't 'professional' for the GT Force wheel, not the DFP?

Bu re the driving styles, yep, gonna try now. +rep-tastic.

Edit:

21.353 / 42.716
21.645 / 43.105
21.520 / 43.161

Got the first section nailed. Fastest is a 20.9xx which scared the willies out of me when I looked on the leaderboard. But, I can't get the centre section anywhere close. I've tried quite a few techniques through the double right, and quite a few ideas on the left into the tunnel too, but I can't get comfortable. I'm driving the last section like the first section. I only hope that I'm carrying enough speed through the tunnel to make it a quick time. Somehow, I think not.

what a tricky combo! :scared: lots of understeer and crossing the strips.

I ran some laps and got these splits:
21.335 - 42.045
21.324 - 42.314
21.259 - 42.280

the best I managed was 21.0 - 41.8. I keep missing the first turn, sometimes I brake too early, sometimes too late.

Dan was almost right about the wheel trick.

If you go to the arcade options section(With the red toolbox}

and push on Select-R3-Left paddle the same time, your telly will freeze.

When you go to race now,you will have a milder form of FF with the DFP.

Wow Jay and Steven you have done a great job and like the rest i will be voting for A and i thank you for your great effort

Did one more small session.

21.630 - 42.874
21.451 - 42.551
21.481 - 42.617

and:

I haven't seen Sphinx for a while now,I hope he is enjoying some sun elsewhere in Europe,:) so
Please, send the results from week 118 to Mr P and Sphinx.

Ron will be the back-up ,just incase, you never know 👍

some more laps and I have new splits:
21.229 - 41.917 (my best lap so far)
21.298 - 42.031
21.261 - 42.084

for the leaderboard, I use a DFP. and I prefer the A leaderboard. 👍

Alright, all this talk is making me jealous. I am stuck in DC teaching 3dsmax. I hope to get on this Saturday sometime. I have been wanting to drive an Imprezza at the WRS forever, and now I can't run it.

I've experienced some odd torture tests for the last few weeks now. Thanks to Sjaak for contributing! :sly: :ill: :sly: :ill:
