Some better tires :dopey: ...and a litlle more time in both cars.

RX-8 LM Seoul forward:

19.884 / 34.307

RX-8 Type S Seoul reverse:

21.979 / 40.972

wow this week is very creative indeed :sly:

What times should we submit for the leaderboard this week; and should we mention the combo used?
ditto same here??
I'd do it as if it were two laps, much like you did Week 118, which you did very well.

That way, we get to see the fastest (Racecar) splits in red, plus the total time...
so like week 118, I see I'll look into it.
Sorry again:ouch: :banghead:
i know i just have to check the forum to find out. So i did and now have the car won in one of the mazda races.
Now it's time to play and make fun.
Good luck to all of us because road tires is something special.

Edit: Didnt see there was a page 2 thx fore N3 heads up :ouch:

Now that I think of it you can't really compare forward/reverse splits. My guess is that the split points are the same physical location for each direction which means that T1(forward) = Final(reverse) - T2(reverse), T2(forward) = T2(reverse) - T1(reverse). The track in general is quite symmetrical so there shouldn't be any significant difference due to direction.

Feeling much better now. I might even turn a few more laps tonight as soon I fish the Trinitron out of the bushes and repair a broken window.

And I think I was running on N2s too, actually it felt like there were no tires on the car - I've pulled more G's at Chamonix than with this pile of cocky-dung.

Interesting that so far everyone seems to feel the race car forward / road car reverse combo is the way to go.

My splits so far:

20.106 34.282 LM forward
21.903 40.590 Type S reverse
42.009 1:14.872 Total

God, Sjaak, you're spoiling the lot with the sticky tyres. No Traction on N2s? Nobody would've said that in Cyril's days :P

Picked up the RX-8 LM Race car tonight from the Mazda Showroom and made a first cut at the reverse track.

Forward: Type S
25.303 44.016

Reverse: LM Race Car
17.509 32.495

I'm feeling the pressure to reverse roles but I think I've invested too much time now going the other way. It's like one of those elevator jokes where if enough people get in facing the rear the unsuspecting target of the joke will eventually turn and face the rear wall himself :-)

Some splits from me

Forward - LM Race Car

T1 - 20'031

T2 - 34'189

Reverse - Type S

T1 - 21'969

T2 - 40'716

Happy racing,

nige

I knew Seoul reverse better and decided to use the worst car there. ;)

And if you have limited time to race, I believe it's better just to stick to the first decision. :dopey:

Nice time btw. 👍

sjaak, I have an experiment. I have saved 2 replays from gt4 to my PS3 virtual memory card, then coppied them to a usb drive. I would like to send them to you so you can test them out and see if they work for verification (which means I could start racing which would be awesome!). I am curious if it will work. Let me know and I will PM them to you. One if of a perfect lap (no running off the road) and the other is me intentionally hitting walls and going off the road to see if it translates the same....let me know!

Hi DARCwizard,
You can also send the files to me and I'll see what I can do with them. What format did they come out as?

I ran some laps last night on both tracks and preffered racing the Type S on the reverse ... Its a blast 👍 about 1 hour on the reverse track and 30 mins on the forward gave me clean laps with these splits ...

RX8 - LM Race Car @ Seoul Forward
19.690 / 33.901

RX8 - Type S @ Seoul Reverse
21.441 / 39.813

Will work some more on these in the next day or so :) Cheers again for some nice combo's Sjaak

It looks like they cam out as PSV files. They have really long file names, but I am not going to change them, so we can get the cleanest transfer as possible. I basically just copied the replay save file over to the memory stick. I will PM you now!

ok dumb question.... can you only attach a file in posts...not PM's?

In either case here are my two test replays....good luck! (for both of us)

Are you going to check these on a PS2 and a PS3, or just a PS2?

Both.

OK, testing now. 👍

ooohhhh yeeeahhh. I am eagerly:scared: waiting!

Converted the ps3 .psv to .max / NTSC and plays successfully on ps2. 👍

There are a few processes to go through to convert the .psv to .max but i suppose that is a small price to pay. 👍

I'll let you know how to go about it later. I'll post it up in the appropriate thread for this sort of thing, and place a link to it here. 👍

Ron is testing the .psv back to PS3. I'm sure he'll let you know how it goes.

OH BTW, one replay you sent was a Dodge Viper

Awesome! Just let me know how to do it and I will be glad to! I am glad that I can finally submit replays! Thanks for checking it out. Question - Am I the first person to do it this way? (obviously)

yes they were both team oreca vipers!

I believe you are the first one here to do it. :)

BTW, always remember to save the ghost replay unless told otherwise. 👍

I tested the above files transferred to USB dongle and an SD card to see if they showed up on my PS3 ... even after creating a brand new GT4 gamesave and a few replay saves on my PS3 it would still not show them on the transfer devices whichever one I used! ... so the GT4 transfer from PS3 to PS3 does not work! .. but as long as PS3 to PS2 works then everything is cool 👍

I was wondering about that too. I think it specifically says in the instructions to save the replay (not the ghost), but for single lap time trials it seems like it would make more sense to save the ghost. I've been saving both just in case but in some cases I'm setting faster times on lap 2 or 3 so someone has to wade through the slower laps first.

I haven't found any advantage to a continued lap over a new one, in fact in almost all cases I can cross the start line faster if I start new and concentrate on building up as much speed as possible before crossing the start line. A lot of times though I'm zoned in after a hot lap and don't want to exit and restart at that point.

the save replay and save ghost replay is something that's overlooked in the copy and paste process.:dopey:

And since it is such common knowledge I never paid attention to it.
On the other hand I should have realised that it could be confusing for new members.

For a best lap competition always save the ghost replay and for a multi lap race always save full replay.

Thanks for testing this, Ron. 👍 👍

Seems like everyone is using the Type S at the reverse track... I'm using it in the forward race. Forward laps are faster than reverse laps, so with the faster LM car I'll lose less time at reverse.

Type S - Forward:
t1-xx.9xx
t2-42.750
(good choice on the road tyres 👍 )

With the LM car I have only done test laps, so no serious times to post.

Nice time CMir 👍
I remember the same reasons Holl01 told in another race like this.
my reasons for doing the Type S on forward and the LM on reverse are to check if I can be competitive with the other combos. :)

Sofar after a hour for each combo:

Type s forward:

25.096
43.429

LM reverse:

16.879
31.414
