Definitely don't want to use the TCS for this one. It helps to be loose to pull around some of the tight corners.

hmmm .. never saw this post until now! .. are you sure its a no no to tcs? :sly: ... I used it to get my best laptime ;)
You really want grip for the 2nd gear turns and this gives plenty.
Have fun guys 👍

Absolutely. I run without TCS for practice but my best saves are all using TCS. Helps me the most in the tight corners, especially powering through the chicane. 👍

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely give TCS a go. I have tried drifting around the last hairpin and managed to get it to work once or twice. I can tell you that rolling around the outer edge is a good way to lose five seconds before the finish line :(. I seem to have the most trouble on that first section, getting the car to go where I want it to go is a bit of a cat-herding exercise.

I'm not too familiar with the track yet and still getting over the shock of the lost grip and braking ability coming from the Weedsport :-) so I hope to clean it up a bit before the deadline. At least I have a ghost saved now where I'm on the track for the entire lap and didn't hit anything!

This race is a beautiful testament to technique. In order to perform well, the lap requires adapting your preferences as a driver to the performance desires of the car. Some corners need to be attacked, some need to be endured. If you use TCS, you get a larger margin of error. Not using it will PROBABLY put you at disadvantage because of the demand placed upon the driver to be so perfect, while engaging the TCS gives some latitude as far as apexes, but the summary will always amount to momentum for this car, as it needs to be pointed in the right direction to take advantage of that HP. As imfaster2 says, try braking earlier so that you are pointed in the right direction sooner, but also remember that this car can slide with affection. Use that too. I'm still playing with staying one gear above the computer's recommendation, but it hurts and helps at the same time. It seems to me that the character of this track is radically different in reverse, as I've raced it forward a few times, and enjoyed it. Going in reverse is like a whole new track. (I love the challenge and experience, by the way!) But at the end of the day, this race is asking a little of everything of the driver, while punishing those who refuse to concede style for performance. This is just one more reason that I think this series is close to being the best in the world for GT4, and I can't wait for GT5!!!!!!!!!!!!:):)👍👍:cheers::cheers:
The most important thing to remember is that this whole journey should be enjoyed, so take a few laps and know that you are not alone, and every lap can become a thousand words to share with someone thousands of miles away. Life is short and hard, so don't forget to frolic!!!:sly:

O.K., I understand. Too much wine on-line can lead to excessive verbosity, but I do mean every word. RACE ON!!!:)

I see now that it was imfaster2 who suggested the sliding, while Superwally put forth the early braking and straight-line acceleration. My apologies for any confusion. I do stand by the notion that this race requires some of both techniques.

Veeeerrrrryyyy EEEnteresting. My current splits are with no TCS, and for whatever reason I didn't even consider using it. I was able to throttle up reasonably well (if not very consistently) without it and figured the faster people were just better at it. I really need help under braking.

Thanks for the tip.

2nd session, not too bad, lost a good .3 in the last :( I'm gonna spend some time tonight and see if I can clean it all up.

39.698
1'16.158

Oh, no tcs for me, I tried it earlier and was not any faster(or slower), it just changes the behavior. I'm having more fun sliding around a little 👍

EDIT: Chip'n away at the stone :dopey: I've had a few 39.25x and no better t1-t2, still think I can clean up the last sector and gain maybe another .5 at the line.

39.425
1'15.857

Slowed down in the first sector. I tried TCS and got a better T2 one time, but didn't finish as well.

39.218
1:15.437

Since I got a DFP my times have gotten a lot better.

Interesting, I thought like superwally and didn't consider using TCS, but I'll give it a try. I knew something was missing me, I couldn't see time to grab to get those splits, now I'll probably get closer to Mr P :sly:

I was going to post a lucky lap from my second session:

39.208
1'16.115

when I saw Ron's post about TCS:

39.212
1'15.710

Still not great but put together some good laps last night and improved lap time by three seconds overall. Can probably still improve since there was plenty of track left coming out of most corners.

39.691
1:17.498

This using TCS, left foot braking, G25 and a few giddyups thrown in for good measure.

Way to go, NeilsG!! I don't see myself being able to challenge your new times, even without the TCS. I've run about 150 laps this week and even my lucky lap split times never threatened a 1'15.xxx. I think I'll spend some time trying to finish my licenses, as I'm on #76 of 80.

T1: 39.606
T2: 1'16.362
A bit more time to be had in the middle sector, but not much. Those Div 1 times are amazing :scared:
phew ... my next goal would be to beat snod but he's 2.8 secs ahead of me at t2 ... imposs to close that gap. div3 guys where are you this week?

Well I'm only 2.3s ahead of you ... and if you pass that you can tell everyone you beat the Australian in the WRS ... oh ... right ... wrong Australian :) Hell, I'd like to be able to beat Snod this week, better get to it and do some racing!

Not sure how much faster "faster" it is with the TCS. But it sure makes me a lot more consistent, so it gives a lot more lucky laps to choose from. :D

Ahaha, looks like I'm a target.. Cool..

Sounds like I should try this with TCS, been trying to get the car to slide more but it just has too much rear end grip (or not enough front end grip!) and it's a losing battle, so I guess I should just try and keep it clean and precise instead..

Maybe I should try using manual, too :sly:

Liking this a lot more than last week, if you couldn't tell already ;) Just couldn't get used to those super softs...

And chuk, 150 laps!? I've maybe clocked up 30... Maybe...

Hey guys, i got these splits a few days ago but was to lazy to post them and im not that happy but i never am ;). Anyway time gained is good so here they are.

38.982/ 1'15.422 and .332 at the line :)

ps i didn't use TSC, i found it to be much slower, for me anyway 👍

hey snod, I've driven this combo no less than 2 hours a day and twice this week I drove virtually non-stop for 12 hours (insomnia does have a good side). Even 150 laps might be conservative. So in the end, I almost feel bad because I seem to be constantly behind the D2 leader by .5 - 1.0 sec, regardless of the combo. That is why I want to finish getting my licenses, because I think it will help my wrs racing. I know I can go faster, but those D1 times are amazing!!

Had another session
39.598
1:16.264

I'll probably try once more before the deadline - I can easily see a 1:15.7 (in theory, at least) it's just a matter of executing. This combo really seems to reward precision (or punish imprecision), miss the apex by a few inches and the car feels like its on ice sliding to the outside.

Hi guys,

Hope you all have a good race, lately very busy with the work so no time to race next week going off to Greece for a week. so see you all within two weeks have fun all to you.

Greetings Le Mans

Getting faster but after trying for quite a while couldn't beat this one ...

T1: 0:39.367
T2: 1:16.262

Competition for third place in Div 2 is heating up :-)

well...these splits are a little lower than my first post but i was able to shave off .327 at the line for a much better final...

39.251
1'15.709

i also tried the TCS...seemed to slow me down...as my best T2 was about 1'15.9xx. hats off to the guys using it...but i still like to slide a little. 👍

As I didn't play anymore, I'm sending the time from my first session, I was hoping to try TCS and to improve my bad last corner but my next WRS session will be week 126.

Submitted here also .. never got back on it so no improvements.
Was a great combo and a belting car to drive 👍

Good luck to all

Well, after over nine hours and at least another hundred laps:crazy: these are my final splits. T1 = 39.240 T2 = 1'16.133:) It's been a great race and now it's off to Mid-field in a VW:tup:👍 :ill:R.I.P Colin and Johnny McRae:ouch:

phew ... my next goal would be to beat snod but he's 2.8 secs ahead of me at t2 ... imposs to close that gap. div3 guys where are you this week?

Splits from my sub -

40.200
1:17.867

Not sure about nine hours but I certainly put some time into this one. Was happy to close out on this run as I put together a good T2 with a pretty decent finish. Going to be a close finish for third in division 2 ... good luck everyone, hope to be seeing you in my mirrors :)

T1: 0:39.177
T2: 1:16.122
