GT4 WRS Week 145 : Chase the Lady @ Opera Paris

Sphinx aka Mr. Marquis,
This is insane!! Fun but insane. I don't know what's harder for me, making "a Prestige Ranking" in cod4 or staying in front of this AI!! I usually do well to stay off the walls on city courses but the added pressure of chasing or being chased buy the AI has me talking to myself. I'll keep at it but by weeks end I may need a padded cell and proper drug treatment.

I haven't tried this one yet, but if that ain't thinking "out of the box".....nothing is. I'm glad to see someone dares to break from the mad 'one lap chase' for a change. I think the motivation here has to be "Race for Fun" and let the final results come as it may.

I do think there are a lot of opportunities to simulate racing with Ai traffic in the Arcade mode with level settings and weight/ power sets that could open up the challenge of dealing with on track traffic, pit stops, tire wear, etc.

Well, there's still some interesting stuff yet to be tried....💡

I still haven't got a 100% clean yet, but it's still within the cleanliness rules for Div 1 as I touched the AI yet again, 👎 but this time on lap 8 instead of lap 7 👍

After lap 5 I don't have to worry about the AI......he's gone! Beating him is beyond my capabilities. The car on this course is fantastic. I expected much less from it, was I surprised. While I am frustrated at my inability to catch wonder boy, driving this thing IS quite a bit of fun.

Good to see the steward racing right away. Having fun? I am. This is a very good setup for the division 3 group as I think at first the AI is gone after Lap 4, so no problems. After a couple attempts though, I have found the AI in some terrible corners and he can really slow you down. Its easy to get right by the AI and say "See you next lap.". The lap times for the AI only vary by 1 second. Besides lap 1 mine are within 7.5, with lap 9 the worst and lap 10 the best.

Not sure yet about the format yet (defenitely out of the box thinking though ), but I'm a very big fan of the little Elan, so I'll be giving it my all!

One question, though. I know the first post states a whole lot of options to be set, but I think I found one option that slipped through the net. As this is an arcade race, what option do we use for Tyre wear? As it's not stated in post 1 (as far as I can see that is ), I assume we're using the standard option (= 'none')?

Splits of my first OK run (not 100% clean, but ok according to rules):

Not sure how I feel about this one. Took FOREVER to get the right car, so I guess that means I'll be leaving my ps2 on all day today and only running this event. The Elan is much more fun that I had thought it was going to be though. I didn't have this car available to me so had to do the Lotus mfr cup to get it and LOVED driving the Europa Special. The Elan is much more forgiving than the ES.

First full run splits:

Was getting faster and faster with the exception of lap 5 which added an extra 2 secs cause the AI pushed me outside on the straightaway kink, causing some fishtails and finishing with a nice wall slam.

Just did 2 runs to get the hang of it. Nothing clean yet, since I had to touch the wall once in the second race

No AI problems though, the Xsara got further and further behind every lap.

L8: 1'52.742 (best one)

Man I would love to run this combo if the stupid Citroen would show up! Reloaded the race probably 30 times to no avail. Double triple checked settings to make sure to draw proper competition. Tried different colors..lol. Tried turning tcs&asc on to change outcomes. Everything! I wish you could just pick from qualified/ similar cars.

Yeah I am done with trying to get this one to work out. I tried for easily an hour and never got the combo. I did a closed top setup and it was a 6 entrant race with the xsara being the first car. Maybe i'll try tomorrow. Now more than 5 tries a day to get it from here on out. See you guys week 146.

I sure picked a good week to come back to the WRS, what a completely mad and fantastic race! Don't think I've seen this crazy a race in years of OLR, this will go down in the books as .....well it will go down Gonna go give it a go right now.

My big frustrated mouth has been silenced. Shut off the over-worked ps2 for dinner and watched some tube for a while and what do you know! First the smaller Citroen showed up, then the Xsara second time around. I was going to be disappointed too as I drove the Lotus Classics race and throroughly enjoyed running the chasis you win in another race to pick up the Elan. Sorry to the steward for a lack of patience.

I got the Xsara first try. I love the Elan and have enjoyed this one a lot so far with one major problem. I can't seem to do 10 laps without hitting the wall at the entrance to the pits more than at least 3 times. I don't know what is is about that one corner. Otherwise I seem to do ok staying out of the AI car's way, but he does get in mine occasionally. Once I get clean (by this weeks rules) race in I will post some times.

P.S. Wife is going on a business trip so I should be able to spend some time on this over the weekend.

Actually caught the AI on lap 5 just when I was about to enter the pit. Not bad considering the first time I tried this I never saw the AI after lap 2!!

I've 3 more days on this one. Superbowl weekend and my house will be full of people from Saturday afternoon on! It's the badboys 59th.

well i got me some 10 lappers with the ai behind me all the way but with one problem so far, yes a tiny wall touch . So i ask Jerry haha out of cheek. How about us in Div 1 being able to have one or the other as a touch?? one wall touch or one ai touch? i din't even get close to the ai to touch him but iv had to long races now with one small touch grr.

Thanks for pointing that out. I saw his remark but thought that if he scores these laps so early in the week, he'll prolly be very fast and clean later on as well. But I understand that you miss being fastest in luxy
I added an 'unclean' remark to his name in the board to keep it all straight, if that's ok with Hugo.

I tried racing this last night and had no joy getting a clean race as I somehow always managed to mess it up between laps 5 and 8

anyway went on it earlier with a fresh mind and got a few clean saves pretty much straight away 👍 my best save so far has ..

Lap 1 - 1'33.926
Lap 4 - 1'53.666
Lap 8 - 1'53.520

This save thankfully is 100% clean of AI contacts he did pass me twice and make me pass him carefully at the dodgy turns after the pitts I feel much better now as last night I was sure I wouldn't get a clean save all week

Will be back with more on this great little race in Noddy's car

I would just like to say a big Hello.. .. This is my 1st WRS race. I've being watching this series for a couple of weeks and gave into temptation yesterday. Did my qualifying like a good little samaritan and got the Citreon first go, so I thought I better make the most of it and did a scrap time.
