It is cleary shown I have some free days. :dopey:

Cyril,Please give bigrew a green star.

Nice run 👍

Here is my replay as well.
I'm close to have 3 wheels off on the right-hander before T1, but I checked it several times and took several pictures, and since the front left tyre was always in contact with the rumble strip by at least one or two inches I decided it was legal.

Can someone PAL double check it ?

I just watched your run flat-out It is altough very close but as far as i can see 2 wheels are toughing / on the kerbs. 👍

Bedankt Tom.
I'll answer to your regitration PM later today, when I get back home.

As far as replays are concerned, we just now need the fast guys to post their (that would be crap to have both fastest times DQed for failure to provide a replay), and Casio's, who still has a replay device on his way.

I think everybody with a replay device should provide a replay.
Sofar no one from Div.1 has taken the troubles to do so.

The last months to many people were disqualified and the reputation of the WRS is at stake.
Bad runs become more a rule than an exception.

Happy new year :)

totally forgot about my replay

and about 3 other runs i did

so im gonna go get em right now, sorry

Nice run hOt. 👍 Stunning first sector, and masterful control with no aids all the way through the lap. Nothing even close to questionable on your lap. Green star for you. :)

@sjaak68- I agree completely with you that people with replay devices should post their replays just as a courtesy to their competitors. I believe that I have been consistent in doing so for a long time. I guess I got a bit put out lately, especially after week 36 though. Let me explain. Since Cyril took over he has asked for replays from all divisions, which is great and IMO the right thing to do. 👍 He has also asked for verification for all replays posted, whether the replays were required or not. Also great. 👍
But I posted my unasked for week 36 replay the day of the results, 2 people had downloaded the replay almost immediately, and............nothing. Although Cyril asked for a reponse at least twice over the following week plus, no one responded until Gregor read the thread and was good enough to download my replay a couple days ago and give a posted response. This was well into week 38! I guess my question is why would two other people take the time to download a replay, presumably reviewed it, and then not take a minute to post that yup it's good, or oops! there may be a problem? I can understand if a person is pressed for time and can't take the time to review replays, (it's a busy time of year) I just don't understand not posting a review of a replay you have already downloaded!

So I guess that's why I hadn't posted an unasked for replay for week 37 yet. I just got frustrated, and didn't want Cyril have to keep asking for a review. But in the end you are right sjaak68, so here is once again an unasked for replay. So come on NTSC guys! If you look at a replay, say so! Although I generally review my lap(s) pretty well before submitting, and would never submit a time I couldn't support believing it was clean, no one is perfect. Believe me, if someone ever finds a problem with one of my races, it is to my shame and no one else!

If people are actually watching the replays they download and not saying anything then sure I'd agree but one cannot assume that is what's happening...I download every one of Holl01's replays and put them in my "Holl01 is a freakish guru of a driver and you can learn from these replays" folder, often I don't watch them for a while though because getting my maxdrive to work is often a pain in the neck so I like to watch/remove replays in bulk when I do them.

If I could watch NTSC replays then I'd be attempting to green star a lot more as well. But it's PAL only for me 👍

As usual I say things when they cross my minds.
Sometimes good,sometimes bad.
In this case I wanted to start a discussion.
Not only about posting a replay but also about submitting the final times.
I want to try that people watch their runs more closely so bad runs will be history.

Back in the GT3 WRS it was common use to post a replay and I always looked if somebody has downloaded.
But in those days when you heard no feedback, the replay was clean.

This is a great change Cyril has done.
Some recognition for the runs is cool.
Cyril can't do it all by himself so we have to help him with it.
So reviewers,Speak Up.

So true,
I couldn't say it better.
I have submitted dozens of replays but the chance of a bad one is always present.
That's the risk we all have to take .
Although I check it always thoroughly and sometimes I ask the help from friends.
As an answer about a bad run, submit tons of good ones.

It's a good discussion to start sjaak68. 👍

Personally I have gotten a lot of enjoyment, and learned a great deal from watching a lot of replays from many different drivers for a long time now. For me, watching replays from all different levels of players has sharpened my skills. I get to see what others do well and not so well, and try to apply the good techniques I observe to my own driving. I just regret that I can't watch any PAL replays. :indiff:

I also agree with your statement that a public posting of a replay review is a good way to recognize the efforts of your competitors. I know that as a D1 racer, with a few good results, I get more recognition than others. But I also know that racers in other divisions have put in as much or more effort than I, and that those efforts should be recognized. Not everyone can be top dog, but IMO a good, clean effort backed up by a replay in a difficult race, deserves it's own reward regardless of position on the leaderboard.

@MisterWeary- I hadn't thought of that. Of course you are right that everyone does things differently, for different reasons, and may download for archiving and later viewing. Please don't get me wrong. The people here are top notch and I have great respect for most everyone here. I hope that the tone of my post was not interpreted as anything other than airing a small bit of frustration on my part only.

I guess after all it's just a game that we play to escape our RL worries for a few hours a week, and have some good conversation with fellow addicts. :)

Yeah I didn't read your post as malicious or anything just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in since it does explain to a small extent why a visited link wouldn't result in having the replay verified.

On a side note it would be awesome to see other replays, I know that a couple of holl01's are just insane to watch as I'm sure there's plenty of insane NTSC ones too. Holl01's lap record around Chamonix is disturbingly perfect, he is a machine!

I totally agree with Sjaak, that submitting a replay (when you have a replay device), is mere politeness towards the other racers.
Someone slower can learn from it, or someone else can spot a few mistakes and give you tips to run faster.

Why does this never happen ?
Because we run on a weekly basis and it takes time to locate the proper replay, move it to the USB stick and then upload it in the thread. The same goes when you want to download replays to check them.

I'm downloading all replays that are submitted, PAL or NTSC (what CFM was doing too), but I can only check PAL replays. That's why you see that a NTSC replay has been downloaded but nobody mentioned having checked it.

Would I be the only one to decide (and would I be able to check NTSC replays), I would ask for a replay along with the time submission. That would make things simpler. For instance, I ran the first race in Torc 12, and Pete was thoroughly checking each and every replay submitted. Take a look at the results of race 1 : here.
Ok, it doesn't make feel that great, since I'm the one who was DQ'ed because my race was dirty, but both contacts were only slight brushings from which I didn't gain nor lose time.
I guess that's what made me move from the 99% clean racer category to the 100% clean one.

You know what I mean by 99% clean, don't you ?
The fact that, OK, you had 3 wheels off on a certain turn, but hey! that was so close that the 3rd wheel could have been on the rumble strip and still the final time would be the same. So it's still worth submitting, isn't it ?
We've all been tempted to do so, or we've done it because we haven't checked our replay carefully enough.

Enough said about it, since that won't happen in the WRS.

About the fact that I'm asking replays for all 3 divisions : I believe that asking replays for div 1 only strengthens the 'caste system' we've been discussing in the ranking poll, and simply means "Div 1 are great, the rest are crap.
Ok, I'm rude on purpose, just to exaggerate : no WRS steward has been saying that. But I think that requesting a replay for the fastest times in each div is rewarding for all drivers in div 2 and div 3. It makes their performance as respectable as any div 1 time since they follow the same verification process.
(And many thanks to those who help me checking replays, I won't mention your names because I'll probably forget one or two of you)

Concerning viewing replays, I have a digital camera with a 128Mb memcard and I can film about 6'30'' at a (crap) resolution of 320x240 pixels.
I can make a movie (.MOV format) of some PAL fastest laps, though I'll have a storage problem, since a one minute video weighs about 25 Mb.
I had filmed kart's first lap at Seoul, and you can download the movie here.
Sorry, but that's the best that I can do.

Edit :
Replay-wise, I think we should all appreciate goixoye having posted his replay (week 36) while it wasn't requested, to avoid any suspicion since his time is slightly above the 6'40 under which I had mention I would request a replay.
We just need now someone NTSC checking it. 👍

I'm planning to use a kind of extra-bronze to show times extremely slower than the division average (3·√2/2·σ for the math freaks).

Instead of extra-bronze I would suggest another metal, such as tin (which is used in PGR 2). Rust would work as well, but nobody wants a rust medal. ;)

I like the idea of a rusty medal :D
Tin, copper are other ideas.

BTW, Casio and Kart, any chance that you post your replay by tomorrow evening ?

Kart's got 'read-error' problems bud, don't know if his ps2 will be working yet.

I have posted the usual solution ( a link to a good guide for sorting it out)

Neil

I'd like to archive this sooner that I do usually.
Can someone check MinorShunt's replay (or point me to the post I missed if it has already been done), and kart.no.38, can you post yours ?

Yeah Ill get onto it now that I have a PS2 that works. Sorry about the delay Flat-Out... :guilty:

Well, I've ordered my Max Drive last night, but with shipping anywhere from 7 - 14 days. I'm unlikely to have it soon. I don't want to keep this thread open for weeks while I sit by my letter box, so if you want to close it, it doesn't really bother me.

I can always just keep this weeks replay and post it somewhere else if anyone wants to see it.

I just checked MinorShunt's replay and it's clean, you can put a * behind his name.
