OK, thought I'd give this a go finally. haven't had time the last 2 weeks. Here are my pathetic first splits after about 20 minutes. Of which only 2 laps were actually clean. This is the better one:

T1: 21.177
T2: 36.529

Haven't seen many D3 splits, but I think that actually puts me at the bottom of D3 as well right now. Anywy, 2 days left to improve...

T1: 20.631
T2: 35.303

Hate world. Revenge soon.

Time submitted. Not much effort given as I've been busy and the next couple days are booked away from gaming. But I'm okay with what I've turned after only an hour and a half of running. Looking forward to next week (whatever it may be :mischievous: )

Hey guys just wanted to pop in and let u know that MisterWeary will be doing the leaderboard now. I'll show him the ropes etc. soon. GL racing boyzzzzzz!

Can't seem to keep her of the wall :grumpy: ... turning off TCS/ASM did help me though...

20.544
35.887

Is it faster to enter the last sweeping turn on the inside and hug it all the way around?

EDIT: Making small steps forward...

20.351
35.710

(Been relegated to a hotel room without the wheel! Oh the horror of it all...)

20.062
34.432

Broke a certain barrier.

Seen 19.8 and 19.7 T1's quite a bit, but still cant do T1 - T2 any good. How do you take the left turn before that hairpin after the fast S bend? I come round the S bend then not sure how to attack that blind left hander.

Well, though your countrymen seem to have a monopoly at the top of the leaderboard this week, I'll just say that what I do is bleed off enough speed just before the downhill left and try to keep as far left as possible while braking so I can keep a wider arc on the right and maintain speed. It's easy to burn off too much and trash your T2 time. As for the blind left, if you get the right leading up to it correct through T2, then the left is not really a problem (set up about mid track or so).

Hope that helps!

Heh, a certain barrier... The 55.165" barrier? :^)

EDIT: BTW, new splits:
T1 19.876 (still need to get into the 19.7s, have seen ONE!)
T2 34.005 (sure seems like a 33.x is not to be! Seen ONE!)
T3 another 0.06" off my time.

A certain second Barrier :sly:

Thanks for the help mate! 👍

Leaderboard will be updated in 15mins or so.

Well, though your countrymen seem to have a monopoly at the top of the leaderboard this week.

Maybe we should front a BC6 team :sly:. Personally, I'd love to see a GT4 world cup.

Also instead concentrating all your energy on the T1 - T2 run, try the T3 - Finish. That is where a lot a time can be gained. For example, while I'm on top of the leaderboard, I know I'm behind someone by more then 0.1, and my T3 - Finish wasn't terrible either...:scared:

No wonder the drifters like this damn car so much -- the back end just WON'T stay behind the front end, no matter what you do!

My first clean lap, after nearly 30 attempts, was as follows:
T1: 20.546
T2: 36.422

Well, I thought it was clean -- watching the replay just now, I noticed that I might have slightly grazed the wall after turn 2... ARRGH!! I wish it would "ding" or something to let you know you've screwed it up! :banghead:

About the only thing I'm doing right is the starting speed -- I can get 128 to 130 MPH at the Start/Finish line... That last, long curve before the S/F line is easy to take with the DFP, because you can control the throttle so precisely...

Someone PLEASE tell me how to drive this car without drifting? It may look cool on the replay, having the back end hanging out like that, but it's KILLING my times...

EDIT:
So, after 35 more laps, I finally have a completely clean lap...
T1: 20.619
T2: 35.365
End: 1.154 seconds faster than before...

I'm slower on T1 this time around, which I don't get, because it certainly felt better. But T2 is MUCH faster this time around -- very surprising to me, considering my T1 was actually slower... And 1.154 seconds better on the end-time is obviously coming from my much-better T2 time (which was 1.057 seconds better than last time...) Gotta figure out what I'm doing wrong in T1... That first turn is a b!tch to do without scraping the wall, or slowing down too much.

Also, didn't someone here say they can take the S-curves with an exit speed of 114 mph?! Best I can do is 109 or so... Any faster and I hit the wall on the exit... Gotta figure out how to do that right...

Well i enter the tunnel turn in 3rd flat, aim for the inside, Once i hit the inside and start drifting wide I brake and slow down so the car will start heading back into the inside then power on again and hit the apex again. I found this double apex method to be the most consistent way.

T1: 19.731
T2: 34.125

Given up after 2 days work
1h 30 min on the first and another hour today That mid section kills me cause its so hard to drift the car throuh there with a ds2. Need to borrow my freinds driving force again i think.

Small_Fryz
How do you take the left turn before that hairpin after the fast S bend? I come round the S bend then not sure how to attack that blind left hander.

I take the S-curve in 4th gear, which helps to prevent the rear-end from stepping out when you're on the gas during and after the S-curve, and before the blind left... Being in 4th gear, you can actually steer the car to the middle of the track without losing control, while still maintaining full throttle. Then stab the brakes as you downshift to 3rd gear, and steer a bit towards the left wall. Back on the gas as you straighten out the wheel and you'll make that turn easily at about 95MPH -- you don't want to go too far though, otherwise you won't be lined up for the blind-right 2nd-gear turn immediately afterwards... The car should be pointed straight at the apex of that turn when you come out of the blind left -- if it's not perfectly straight, the back end will slide around when you hit the brakes and downshift into 2nd gear to take the blind-right curve... Then you're toast, and so is that lap.

Hope I've helped... I'm not the best driver here, apparently. :dopey:

I HATE THIS DAMN CAR!!!

You just can't get any damned consistency out of it!!! IT IS TOTAL CRAP!

Out of about 110 to 120 laps so far, I've got TWO laps that are clean... TWO, DAMMIT! This CAR SUCKS. This TRACK SUCKS... See y'all next week...

I'll post my time that I have already, even though it SUCKS TOO...

Next week, then...

I get the feeling that you think we should do this combo every week :sly:

Admittedly, the T1-T2 run is hardest to do consistantly. You have to get mm close to each wall on S-Turn. The fastest you can take it is about 113mph. For the next left, it's probably better to be slightly conservative. If you take it too fast, you end up to close to the right hand wall, which means you usually exit well to the left wall, thus giving you no line into the next left, giving you bad position entering the tunnel....

There is loads more time to gain from getting a good line the Hairpin to the finish, then taking that corner a little bit faster.

Just performed my first Leaderboard Update...proud as punch :D

Better check it still works then.... 👍

You should figure it out :)

Well, that's wierd... I've been hacking away at my time for the past hour or so, and it's come down quite nicely I must say. But, on my fastest time, I found that I got a little excited and turned in just a tad too soon for the slight left before the hairpin right. :dunce: So, I went back and was chasing it, and came up with a time that's only a tenth behind it, and I went to watch the replay.

The replay does NOTHING! The car does the forced acceleration thing like it does each time you start a new session, but then it doesn't act like I was giving it any input after that. It coasts straight forward, hits the wall, rolls back, and then just rolls slowly back and forth. I never did this... I let it play on double speed for a minute or two, and nothing. So there's no replay data for that session! WEIRD?! I went to the track analyzer and it showed everything correctly(and what I wanted to know, that it was clean... :)), but I haven't checked to see if it did in fact save the ghost. I'll just check that later though, as I'm not done with my session yet... 👍

Well, never you mind that... I went back and when I sat down I realized my thumb was starting to bug me. I don't want to push it too hard, gotta use it in a couple hours at work. So, these may be my submitted splits, maybe not, we'll see if I can come back to it tonight and improve on it.(probably... :sly:)

I went back and checked to see if the ghost was there, and yup, there and clean! So, fastest clean splits so far, and probably fastest splits yet:

T1: 20.093
T2: 34.541(gotta stay ahead of those fast D3 peeps, ya know? Third/Bleu, I tip my hat to you)
T3: about a second faster than my last splits from my first session...

I don't think I've had a 19.xxx T1 yet, but I can't be sure as I haven't been looking at my T times basically at ALL, there's just too much else going on. I wish it was this easy to ignore T times on other tracks.. :)

I've had this happen a couple of times myself. Kinda frustrating... Though not as frustrating as when I had the ghost not update! Drive for an hour and go faster, only for the "Fastest Lap" not to change and the save ghost be slower!

GRRR!

Sorry, don't know what causes it...

I had the same thing happen to me once in GT3

Oh god, do I hate this track and this car.
I had a very good lap (in my standards) and I missed completely the "tunnel corner".

best time (crashed)

T1 : 20.4 (20.1)
T2 : 35.7 (35.1)

Well, it didn't do the wierd replay thing anymore, so I guess that's good. I had another go at it a while ago, and couldn't quite match my fast dirty time, it kept nipping me at the last second RIGHT before the finish line. Anywho, with my current skillz and lines, I was only whittling away 100ths at a time. Ended 11 hundredths behind my fast dirty time(it nicked me at the end, the punk!), and decided that was enough for this week's race. I've a slightly faster T1, but a slower T2 by 11 tenths when comparing to my previous clean fastest lap.

T1: 20.074
T2: 34.653
T3: .011 slower than my dirty punk, but a little faster than my clean one... :)

Cyril, I just wanted to give you 👍 👍 this week, quite the nicely balanced race you put together! Earlier today after I finished my session, I bumped up the power 20% to have some fun... Fun was definitely NOT had. The car fits this track much much much better at the lower power level, thanks!

Oh, and ShigSpeed, thanks for the double apex idea, that's what kept nipping me so well each time... Lol, I only got it good maybe twice, the other times I either just tried to maintain speed around the whole thing, or did mediocre double apexing. T'was a tough one!

Well, I just gave this combo a quick one hour session, for the first time since it's been posted. Needless to say, I didn't get anywhere...

Lots of smoke and tire squealing, though 👍 :D

I think I'll pass on this one... I am going to check out the new race, instead.

The Wizard.

Had a last minute go. Wishing I had time for one more session, but not to be.

T1: 19.759
T2: 33.825

Not too bad for splits, but I've had better. Finish was.....meh.
This race is in the books for me.

Regarding the replay glitches KLR is mentioning. I have found that if I use the analyzer within a session I will sometimes get glitches like; the best ghost not updating, the position to ghost not showing accurate, the ghost missing, the replay not working, and best laps not being saved. So if I really want to analyze a lap, I just save it, analyze it, then exit out and come back in for a new session. Don't have any problems then.
