The car is only red if you choose that color, but it's odd anyway. Lightweight, MR on a winding track surrounded by walls. Lots of fun expected. And to introduce some handicap, the tyres are restricted in a special way this week. Enjoy this race !

I like the tire restriction idea. Also I dont know if I have just missed this but under race rules what is "no hybrids".

Hybriding was possible in GT3 : I still drive my 4,400 hp Cooper 1.3i (40 secs on Midfield :sly: ). There's no way to do this in GT4 since nobody's cracked the file format yet. Search on GTPlanet, you'll find more info on that topic, there's even a whole section dedicated to hybriding.

And this weeks first post typo..........? :) :sly:

Like the tyre handicap system. 👍 Is this just a one-off or a preview of things to come?

*PS2 fires up.*

Back soon with times.

Darren.

oh no.
if there's one track i dont like it's monaco.
and if there's one car that i find difficult to cope with ito oversteer (very light and very oversteery) its the stratos.
never mind, cyril: a real challenge for the week to come.
see you all in the tunnel.
btw thanks for us poor div3 devils for letting us use soft compounds ...

I'm a typo specialist. What did I write wrong this time ?
Did you mean extra words that had nothing to do in the sentence (I just removed 2 of them), or is there some other huge typo I haven't noticed yet ? :)

Nevermind, it's been edited now. 👍

(front and read can use different compounds)

Or something like that. What would you do without us lot Cyril. :D :sly:

Don't worry, I like the typo's, kinda like the WRS's version of the quick crossword. :)

Darren.

I forgot to add something in the first post.
I wanted to thank Colby a lot for having posted the last 2 races while I was overbooked (I still am, but at least I'm at home and not travelling across France). 👍 👍 mate.

And I wanted to thank all of you too, because we've seen that the community lives on his own and that the steward is, well, just a steward.
Ok, it starts to sound like a retirement speech, but it's just the opposite : I'm back, and I plan to be the one to blame for your sore thumbs week after week after week.

Just a tip before I go and post the results :
Next week will be double-length because....
... we're gonna drive a race car at the 'Ring.

Uh oh, were we supposed to send our times from last week to you Cyril? I sent mine to MisterWeary :(

Yeah, I saw the 'read' instead of 'rear' after I posted and I edited it too.
I've been using keyboards for more than 20 years, and I can type real fast. But that means a certain amount of typos of course.
And I don't want to type slowly, or else my syntax and spelling mistakes wouldn't be mistaken for typos :D.

Colby's been forwarding me all times he'd been PMed last week and this week. But since it's the early morning in Australia, I guess he must have some unread PMs he still need to forward. The results will be unofficial until I've received all PMs (don't rush on your PM, the deadline is the deadline and only PMs received by Colby before 9pm GMT will be accepted.)

Sweet. I am so back next week. 👍

This race looks interesting with the tires as they are. Might get some time in after my BC round is up as I love the Stratos. Not sure how well I will adjust to a city track in such a slippery car, but it sure sounds fun.

Oh c**k. I'll be moved in Montreal next week, and possibly without a net connection at that time. :guilty: Well, my ps2 will be rigged up on a friend's tv by then but I'll have to visit the site via a netcafe to get the full monty on this challenge. It'll be either that or diving into endurance races. :dopey:

Sweeeettttt

I love this track, yes, itsone of the hardest but ive spent a lot of time there and im pretty good now

The new tire rules is kinda cool for me I guess, but not for Div.1 I guess. Have fun wit that oversteer div1!!

this is a redo on my earlier 63 post.
i don't dislike the stratos, i HATE it. i don't dislike monaco, i HATE it.
combined with my o so mediocre racing abilities and taste for doing FUN things only, i say to cyril and the rest of you lot: see you next week in germany. 'cos that's where flatty is bringing us.
and that's even more scary because of its length and develishness and 200 million curves and far too narrow tarmac and washing machines and downward slopes and and and and.
so good luck in france.
this week i'll be collecting courage for next week.
btw to all of you: 👍 👍 👍
and to cyril: :P :P :P

Do you hate me Cyril? What have I done wrong?!

No worries Brad, he likes you, I just told him that I was mad at you and wanted to torture you a bit... At least he's giving people two weeks so they have a decent chance at getting a fast AND clean lap in. (you already know this, but newbies don't >>>) I remember when I first raced on the 'ring, I probably raced near 10 hours, and only had THREE CLEAN LAPS!!! I was soooo much faster by the end of the week than my clean lap too, just couldn't hold it together. I might've been able to with 20 hours, haha.

Cyril, I'm loving it man, will start on it tonight! Maybe the other top D1 guys will be busy and I might be able to sneak something in on Medium tires... Probably not, but I think I might like to try...? 👍

We're not all busy :sly:

20 minutes worth of splits.
T1 - 30.458
T2 - 1'20.423

At least 2-3 seconds to come off the final I think. Great car. Reminds me a lot of the last time we used this car around Autumn Ring, albeit the race version.

Still don't know how to attack this on hards. At the moment I've been Scandinavian flicking it through the narrow bits and driving it normally through the wider stuff. The problem with the car is that it goes straight from extreme understeer to extreme oversteer. The former you don't want at this track.

Also a quick session from me:

30.200 (best 29.8)
1'19.837

A lot more to come...

Lol, I know YOU'RE not, I was mainly talking about the aliens. Although, Iceman is basically one and the same now... 👍

So, anyway I just went and did 20 laps... Between the lack of sleep last night, usage of race tires for the past month and a half, and extra width of this car, I didn't get a clean lap. For now. I'm quite glad that I don't have to struggle with hard tires though, coming from those race tires this feels bad enough as it is! Very fun to toss around though, sadly that's not the fast way around the track. And then regarding the width, that'll take some getting used to! I use the windshield view and I keep clipping inside corners everywhere. The car extends much further to the sides than what's visible of the car in that view, and that's how I judge my corner cutting... :dunce:

I will say though, that I think my competition will mostly come from the other guys in D2 that should be moving up with me to D1 soon... I can see 1'18s being not far off. Best I managed was a 1'19.7(dirty), with LOTS of time everywhere, let alone the wall kisses and etc. Seen a 29.66x T1 as well.

If WRS was nothing but road cars it would be awesome.

T1 - 30.095 (Best 29.84x)
T2 - 1'19.135

Don't know how much is left. I don't think a certain barrier is possible. But we'll see.
