Flat-out
Just a tip before I go and post the results :
Next week will be double-length because....
... we're gonna drive a race car at the 'Ring.

here's hoping Dan was serious when he retired from this series otherwise he will own all on the next race!!!

should be an interesting race this week though... lancia stratos is a nice car, but Cote?!? i am gunna have to put many laps in this week...

Edit: splits after 10 laps ( have had a little to drink so i am a bit slow so far :mischievous:)

30.2xx
1'19.3xx

another half a second per sector left in it yet, probably more yet...

some bad splits from me
31.1
1.21.3
was just messing around, trying out a few things, then from the tunnel on i raced my ass off, and produced a clean lap. Much more to come on this tricky combo.

Well, got started on this combo.. quite the challenge with the walls and such, but fun.

T1: 0'29.738
T2: 1'18.982

Perhaps .2-3 is still out there.. damn swimming pool complex.

Are you sure you're on hard tires? If so, you're pretty flying for only having done 10 laps and having had a bit to drink...

Took a first spin around the block. As I'm in Div3, I put on soft sports, drove without any aids and with AT (still can't get the hang of MT :indiff: )

T1: 30.338
T2: 1'20.096

Maybe this could be the basis for another weeks handicap system Cyril?

Ran a quick 5 lap session last night, not good so far. Maybe it's coming off of those race tyres from last week as someone else suggested, probably just my driving though. :)

No times worthy of posting yet so I'll give it another go tonight, I'm itching to get started on the TT WRS as well so it looks like a busy week ahead. :D

Darren.

I've got in a few laps last night and tonight. I really like the combination, the car slides well around slow corners, and 2nd gear is a beast.

T1: 30.215
T2: 1'19.005

I'm moving house this week  , AND I'm going on holiday the day after I move (idiotic planning) so this is probably the only time I'll have to race.

I got these splits after a couple of sessions:

29.663
1'19.083
(SMs all round)

Might submit this evening then.

Good luck everyone - this one's a right bugger.

tried hard/medium combo... didnt really feel comfortable with the car and it shows with really crappy splits:

31.476
1:23.859

personally I can take an easy 1.5-2.0 seconds out of that T2 split... beyond that Im likely out of luck

Had one last effort and improved my splits:

29.599
1'18.328

Trouble is, my last sector sucked big hairy balls (lost about 0.6 I think)

There's plenty more time to be had on those splits too (on mediums at least - hards would be :scared: ) - I ran wide on the right after T1 (split-watching of course) and the entry to the tunnel wasn't the greatest either.

Time submitted 👍

I will love or be frustated with next week. I love the ring but fast cars with stock suspensions are to hard to use there. Hopefully it will be in gt mode because without softer settings it is really hard.
29.967
1'20.460
I am so mad at myself. after a half hour I finally got a totally clean lap that was .4 faster on the final.:) I was so happy I exited the race and turned off the PS2 without saving:indiff:

I tried both Sporthards and Sportsofts to see what time I would get,
and for me their was a 4sec between the two tires.

T1 - 30.124
T2 - 1'18.686

I can get 29.7s pretty easy now. Had a low 29.6/1'18.2, but threw it away on the last corner!

With Dan / Curtis and Veil gone, and the nurb being my best track maybe i should push for a WRS win next week :P

got some splits eventually, I love this combo.

t1 - 29.632
t2 - 1'19.084

Im sure I can get at least a second in t1, but ill only geta chance to run some laps in a few days

I don't think tyres are going to make that big a difference on this track. Half of the corners are very low speed, which are probably taken at the exact same speed on any tyre. Grip isn't an issue either, I havn't got any wheel spin on hards.

Where the difference will be made is Casino, and the run from the chicane on the back straight to T2.

i beg to differ Casio, I started my hotlaps on hard tyres, although im in division2, after bout ten laps I swapped to mediums and instantly gained 0.5 secs

I didn't say there wouldn't be a difference. But really .5 over ~100 seconds of a lap is nothing when on different tyres.

The final difference this week will probably only be maybe 1-1.5 seconds for each tyre compound, whereas on a higher tyre grip track like say Suzuka or Fuji, the difference would be much, much larger.

You're definitly right Casio, but then again I probably did a max of 10 laps with hards and about 7 with mediums, so Im sure Im gona improve, and there will be a greater difference between tyre choices.

Same for me. I had about 2 or 3 secs between SH and SM, and another 2 or 3 between SM and SS. The last handicap race (week 41 I think) was pretty balanced, I hope this one will be fine too.

Any hints on what car were running at the 'Ring?
No, there's no hints, and I'm not answering to questions on that subject :)
The race settings, pics and thread are ready, but my privilege is to be able to change everything at the last minute, so that even if someone guesses the car, I still can change and nobody would know it :mischievous:

Yeah. GT Mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (next week)
Please note that you are saying this, I didn't say anything about it, so it might as well be Arcade as far as you know.
