Congrats to everyone 👍 , here's my replay:

Ramon, you here? Still haven't given up racing, do you? Stunning victory

Sure thing! I can't really say it was a certain part of the track, but more the driving, which is what we're all here to improve. I used to drive exactly like you when I first started, more prone to braking late into the turns and doing a little positioning(sliding, :)) of the car mid-turn. It's the main thing that makes the fastest the fastest, just trying to get most of your slowing down before the turn, trying not to slide much(if at all) in the middle of the turn to maintain speed, and get on the gas early. You want to maintain speed through the turn and get on the gas smoothly and early to have a higher exit speed. Basically the basics, but much easier said than done.

Try to get your braking done a little sooner, and try not to slide as much. A good bit of your sliding was scrubbing off speed. If you could slow down just a bit sooner, get back on the gas lightly, or in some cases full throttle, depending on where on the track and such, and you'll carry more speed through and out of the turn.

That advice goes out to everyone, including myself... 👍 Oh, and of course, try to use as MUCH of the track as possible. Not only getting close on the inside of turns, but starting all the way from the outside and working your way smoothly out to the outside again on the exit. On some turns it's not always best to start from the outside, or exit on the outside due to turns that follow or come before, but when you're exiting onto a straight, swing as wide as you can as smoothly as you can to maximize your exit speed. :)

Take a look at some of the D1/2 replays and you should see it in action.

i find this as one of the biggest transition when i switch from GT1/2 to GT3/4...in GT1/2..the car can still turn even when you are braking......so you can brake EXTREMELY late...but since i start GT4 (i havent played GT3 much cuz i dont own the game)...i find it doesnt apply anymore.....and it takes a lot of time to make the transition from GT1/2 to GT4...and i am still struggling from it...

Lol, I wouldn't say you're struggling nearly as much as you say you are, but yes, I agree. When I first drove GT4 I couldn't drive it for crap! I was a bit annoyed until I finally got used to it.

Barcelona's replay is from week 60's race actually... And it's clean. You might want to post your lap from week 62's race though, because it is required being a gold and all.

Yeah. I'm just going to throw all of my replays from the past few weeks races onto the Maxdrive and forget about sorting/renaming everything. It'll be there, and who doesn't like watching a 787B anyway . . .

You could try using Sphinx's program found here, it helps rename all your replays and determine what each of them are 👍

Better late then never. Sorry for the delay.

Well done to celeron_266 and all the winners and podiums, and of course to everyone who managed to keep it on the road at all. 👍
I had a rubbish last sector where I lost about half a second I think - I was all over the place coming out of the swimming pool complex :ouch: (Maybe I should have parked it at ... "I believe it's called Rascasse" :sly: )

Thanks for the promotion FlatOut :) - hope I don't utterly disgrace myself from the beginning though :nervous:
Quite surprised really as there are usually other guys in D2 who seem to be consistently faster than me but they haven't been around for a while. I'm sure they'll be along soon though 👍

I don't know what I'm doing here either , after my "pompous" farewell one year ago here I am again (I thought really I wouldn't race again until GT5) damn GT drug ... :banghead: , but I'll take it easy, I just will race from time to time.
Btw, congrats for your BC6's race 6 win. 👍

Oh Bigracer, you done it again! ;) I am presently in Montreal at a NetZone cafe and looking at my poor-ish result being awarded a silver brings me some intense grins! :D I hope to hook up the phone and net to get on busy with week 64. :)

All provided replays have been checked. I just checked Casio's (awesome lap man, really really awesome 👍 ) and I also checked SuperT's which was dirty, you clipped the wall on the first corner. So that leaves one DQ.

[EDIT] All replays verified and finished 👍 [/EDIT]

Righty-O, that's all of them, if a couple of folk wanna finish off the replay checking...all results threads are sorted 👍

If the last NTSC replays(other than mine anyway) aren't checked by the time I get home tonight, I'll take care of'm. Hopefully someone manages to do so before then though...

Awesome job going through everything Colby. That's like a red tick on EACH post. If I could anyway. Lol.

Thanks buddy 👍 I'm just anally retentive :sly:

If a PAL user could also just check SuperT's lap again for me. If it does turn out to be DQ I think it's only fair it's been double checked. I put it in the data logger since photomode is deceptive for wall touches 👍

im on it....back in 10

...well ive checked it out and im sadly going to have to say dirty. Its such a shame, it was a nice lap with some lovely corners. The speedo just flashed to 64mph then dropped back to 63 without a gear change, at the point of impact. And there was a drop shown by the data logger too :(

You the man :) 👍

[EDIT]
Sorry Darren, it sucks when you get a DQ but it happens when we're all trying to drive on the edge 👍
[/EDIT]

MisterWeary
So that leaves one DQ and very little time for EG6_GUY to find the correct replay.

InsaneRacer
celeron_266: Clean on SM tires
Your doubtful max file was the correct file, though.

STLbarcelona5: Looks to be a max file of Grand Valley in a Mitsubishi Evo IV Rally Car 97

EG6_GUY: Clean

AngelCreator:Clean

I'm not sure what the problem was with my replay, MisterWeary. I submitted it in a timely manner and it was checked out and found to be clean. Please let me know what is not correct.

I just checked Casio's (awesome lap man, really really awesome 👍 )

If I recall I had a pretty insane T1 time, just lost a bit at the end. I'm still unhappy I didn't get a 44....

My bad...it was STLBarcelona's lap that was incorrect sorry bout that 👍

It was just one of those laps that is really interesting to watch, you nailed all the apexes and drove right on the edge...very nice lap 👍

This thread is finished 👍 I updated my post here with the summary of results and laps

Thanks for double checking my replay guys, (Colby and Rob).

I checked it myself before submitting (obviously) and took a look in photomode as it was a bit close to the wall. I saw a gap between the wall and the car and assumed it was clean, not realising the collision detection for that part of the rail starts at the kerb and not at the armco barrier hence the visible gap in photomode.

I'm obviously gutted at being DQ'd but I feel worse for submitting the lap in the first place, (bring on the fire and brimstone. :sly:).

Please accept my apologies, I can assure you all it won't happen again.

Darren.

Edit: Just watched Casio's lap to see what all the fuss was about. Nice driving bro. 👍

BTW, week 63 bronze result removed from sig. :(

I'd say that warrants further checking then if you ask me... The kerb is allowed, and I do agree that it can sometimes knock off some speed, but usually it's a tad progressive and the speed change isn't all that large, but it IS noticeable. Photomode can be very very very hard to pinpoint, and it's quite easy to over look things sometimes, even if you can't get it to show contact in more than 10 minutes of looking.

Even though it *looks* like there is a curb, Gran Turismo has not factored in curbs on most tracks. I had a similar problem during the week around George V where I thought I had just clipped the bottom part of the curb. But as an experiment I drove into the wall to see what it looks like in photo mode and the car remained an inch or two away from the wall at all points during contact. The easiest way to tell if you've clipped a wall is to check the Data Logger, photomode just isn't conclusive.

.....as an experiment I drove into the wall to see what it looks like in photo mode and the car remained an inch or two away from the wall at all points during contact.

I did the same thing myself. I drove the car nose into the bit of armco/guard rail in question and held it there on the throttle. When you look back in photomode the car does appear to be a few inches away from the barrier, although I now know different. :(

I was not aware of this when submitting the replay, (I had another that was less than a tenth slower which would have made no difference to my position on the leader board. Last. :dopey: ).

I guess if I get a similar situation in future I'll have to get a second opinion before submitting?

Well it's about damn time. Good thing I rechecked my PMs just to make sure that I could still submit it today. Same time as my other one as well.

Green flag for cleanliness and matching actual time... 👍
