Psionic powers seems to be working again. No-one has mentioned the Caterham for months, and now that I'm about to post this race, everybody mentions it in the suggestions thread. I didn't want to change my plans and replace Midfield by Laguna Seca as suggested, because I don't think it'll bring much more to the combo. That car needs a flat track, flat rumble strips... Every bump is a chance to get airborne and lose control. Oh, a final tip : you need to use the semi-racing exhausts when the car is fitted with a turbo, or else you won't reach the maximum power.

First reply :).

Sorry that I haven't been around for awhile, I'll try to get some times in for this week.

You mean first reply ? Now you need to be first to post your replay too when the results are posted :P

[to myself]yeeesssss ! I'm not the only one who makes typos[/to myself]

Cool, looks good Cyril. I guess we are phsycic (sp?), would have been even crazier if we had chosen midfield...Ill get on this now as ive just submitted my 73 lap. Ill be back with decent times soon, only to realise my settings are rubbish and i need to rethink everything  👍

[off topic]
Also, id like to announce this as my last race for 5 weeks! Im going off to uni on sunday, and wont have my PS2 untill my brother (also going to the same uni :dunce:) gives it to me half way through the term, in 5 weeks time. Hopefully i wont be out of practice too much by then. I plan to go out with a bang, so ill be driving flatout(excuse pun) all week!! Just a warning dan, lmao
[/off topic]

YES midfield! I lo0ve this track! and this car is so great.

I cant wait, excellent pick!

yes midfield - one of my favvies. and gt mode too - funfunfun.
the caterham i've never understood properly, but now i'll dive into it.
i guess cyril's heard my prayer about early 74 publishing, or else we've been intergalactically connected again.

Yeah! Way to go Cyril.

That's on two fronts...
One, for saying you should be first to post a replay as well (cause I really hate this spammy crap about being the first to make a worthless post in the newest WRS thread).
And two, because I love to see that you are listening to the suggestions thread.
That is a great quality and anyone here who doesn't recognize it probably doesn't deserve it.

 to the mod man of the wrs

"You are number 6."

"I am not a number, I am a free man."

I can only get max of 239 hp out of the car.
Oh, a final tip : you need to use the semi-racing exhausts when the car is fitted with a turbo, or else you won't reach the maximum power.

<--- Hammy is out on the track already.... :dopey:

Oh, I tried that. He actualy means "Supercharger". I got the 290 hp now. thanks.

Who is number one? David Brent !!!!

But why do the Brits love this car so much?

Is it because of the horrible sound?
Or the shaking on the wheel?
The wheelspinnig perhaps?

And a nice off topic question.
Who can tell how many horses and cows you can find along the Midfield track?

Some early splits, ive not tried too much on the setup front yet. No aids though and gears auto 11 with a slight change to 6.

21.851
43.544 with a horrible left

This is a realy fun combo, lives up to expectations! 👍

Who is number one? David Brent !!!!
what is it with sjakie and the office? i hope he's not like any of those guys 'cos they're pathetic - albeit good actors.

about the setup front. just took a first few pathetic turns out on midfiel in 24.x and 48.x but found out racing susp and tranny might not be best for this combo.

so lots to get into for this strange spinner!

We love this car, because it's British!
It's usually hand-built (in RL), by Brit's
And it's like the ATOM! You can see the workings. The wheels hit the apexes cos you can see them, you can see the suspension doing it's job.

Basically, it's cool, it's basic, it does what it says on the tin!

just dont' let clarkson build yours. :sly:

Gt mode is so much better with all the tunning IMO. Can get the car just how I like it.👍 :)

Fun combo!

interesting combo, me try later, when arive home. me go now eat lunch, me gay also

I think I'm going to race this... Back shortly after I've run some laps (leaving PC and playing now).

Ok, about a half hour later now, more like 45 minutes but whatever. Point is...
I've just finished running a few laps.
Had a great time with the race and tuning the car.
Plus, I had a catty in my garage with everything I needed except for a brake balancer and racing tires. 👍

T2: 44.4??

I am satisfied for now. Maybe if I find the time for more laps I will run them but in the mean time I am happy with my final time as well as my T times. Started with times in the 47 T2 range. :indiff:
I'd like to say I am faster but in the WRS things change, fast "out there" isn't fast in here. Beyond that I'm not one for excuses, so... :ouch:

In any case, I took some photos and plan to post them soon.

Other than that, the race is a blast Cyril.
Likewise, the racers who suggested the combo. 👍

Till next time,

Edit:
Although my gaydar isn't going off, I will have to agree with hotboi that the caterham is wasted on this course (to some extent).
Maybe the Ring would have been better? ;)

This sound like fun, also I have found that more then just this car will have
more horsepower with semi-racing exhaust than racing exhaust when a
supercharger is put on the car. Like the Toyota Celica.

After a 20 lap session, using defualt settings (except gears and ASM/TCS)

T1 - 22.748 :nervous:
T2- 44.959 :nervous:

I've got alot of catching up to do

give this one a crack soon...

EDIT: had a crack, quite a difficult car this week, cries out for a very good setup, i am struggling at the moment, after 45 min i am at the following

22.6
42.8

am sure there is a fair bit of time left in it yet...

what is this thing? it's not a car, that's for sure. no wonder you're not allowed to enter it into gt4 races. 290hp in a 335k car? more like a superbike with some extra wheels.

have to fiddle a lot with the setup. for this one it might just be that racing suspension is not the best choice for this track. you just have to prepare it for hitting a curb or two even if you plan to avoid them like cyril said.

anyway, still way from optimizing but now at 23.545 and 46.773.

maybe the 42.x dude should check his choice of tyres. if they are r2's then i suggest he marries daniel.

Its good to post setups guys, hint hint. Heres mine so far.
susp.
stock springs
stock rideheight

gears auto 11, 6th gear shortened though. I tried tranny trick, didnt work well.
lsd original
brakes 2/3
aids 0/0/0 TSC is a definate no no this week. Knocked 4mph off before i reached the line, but that might of had something to do with no oil change..

22.036 (21.851)
43.270 (43.1xx)

Wheee-Ha! Caterham. Screw this, I'm racing the whole week. GT Mode, Caterham. Perfect. Now let's just get rid of Midfield. My 8-year old brother knows it better than I do (In fact, he's doing it right now in a Peugeot 106 v16).

I finished running the El Capitan 200 today, in a RUF 3400 (Yeah, I can't think for myself, I just had to take the car Duke took). Did it nicely for 194 A-spec'ers, 250,000Cr. and a brand-new Toyota monsterosity. Now that I've got money again (GT Credits, of course), I can get this Ham. Wait, I've already got one. Whee-ha!

Oh yeah: That El Cap with the RUF: Best. Fun. Ever.

EDIT: Came back, with a new Dark-blue Caterham. 290HP. Worst Splits.

I must be mad, or I suck. Racing Hard tyres, full mod, full weight-reduction? How the heck? I'm 5 seconds behind the next Div3 guy. Either I suck hard, or I can't control the car.
