GT4 WRS Week 92: "Gone, but not forgotten..."

Still cant put a whole lap together, but I have improved on my previous fastest lap.

T1 - 19.263
T2 - 36.847
T3 - 55.394

Still using default settings, except for the obvious changes. I can easily see myself breaking into the 54's next session, providing I have enough time. I might try out VTRacing's set-up too, and see if it works for me.

New splits:

T1 - 0:19.228
T2 - 0:36.889
T3 - 0:55.821

No silver this week :dunce:

Fastest run of the week for me was a 19.1 to a 36.8 to a 55.5, which i prompty threw at the next turn by diving off on the inside. :dunce: No luck duplicating that so i'll have to settle for my 55.8

Time Submitted.

I got a day off so it's time put down few laps.
2nd session resulted in

19.197
37.108
56.199

Got the first two sectors figured out, now just got to get the corkscrew right.

Not had as much PS2 time as I'd hoped this week, board time submitted.

I just hope I've done something amazing in the final sector, I doubt it though.

Darren.

Hi all, thank you Mike for the tip about not using the lsd at all. It really worked for me and i now have some splits that i like 👍

still have some time left in there but im done now and my fingers tingles again
Time submitted

a very last-minute update

T1: 0'19.380
T2: 0'37.915

I'm also DEFINITELY using the LSD, where as if you don't, you get some unpredictable wheelspin, including in the corkscrew. I'm using 0/15/15 for my LSD. The 15 on decel is to help reduce the lift throttle oversteer that this car has.

Gearing, I'm using 3rd through 6th.

EDIT: See my following posts for suspension settings.

Well this will be my last race for a little bit because my DFP has stoped working
right and I'm tring to get a new one. So if I don't get a premotion(which I don't
think will happen) div2 can rest a little bit untill I get a working DFP.

Eh, my setup posted above has too much oversteer, among other things. Try it at your own risk, lol. I've made these changes already, but I still don't like it, at all. Blah.

It's true though, the R5s make it almost pointless to tune. Braking zones? More like braking patches.

Kyle, it definitely helps in the less-bumpy stretches, though I lightened the springs some to suit me a bit more (down to 11.2/8.5). Still working on the perfect lap though.

Actually, the car does seem to like softer springs. More grip, and more control. My stiffer damper settings are doing enough to restrict the weight transfer.

I'm 5/7 for the dampers. And I using 3rd through 6th is faster than just 3rd through 5th. Try 4.100 for the final drive, and 10 for the auto setting, then shorten 6th as needed, and lengthen 4th and 5th as needed.

👍 Glad to hear it helps some. You can go even lower on the springs actually, I'm at 8/6 right now for the springs. And I'm not sure what I'm doing for camber just yet, but currently it's at 1.5/1.5. I'll probably try bumping up the front a little bit sometime, if I ever get that far. Also my toe's currently at 0/0, but some negative could be added in, either front or rear, or both, I don't know. R5s are too much grip!

Still not really working on a good lap yet... :indiff: Lol. Seen down to a 55.3 on one lap, current fastest is a 55.7 I think. 54 is in sight, I'm just not really chasing it just yet.

0/0 for the toe works the best. I'm pretty satisfied with my suspension right now. Considering I just did a 55.1 anyway and it felt pretty ok.

So, the full rundown on my suspension settings:
8/6
90/90
5/5
7/7
2/1.5
0/0
5/3

BB is 7/5

LSD is 0/15/15

Downforce is 30/30

Gearing is 4.100 final, auto 10, 4th and 5th lengthened slightly, 6th slightly shortened.

👍

EDIT: It does like more camber up front. Now running 2.0, could run more, but I'mma focus on going fast for a while first.

Results may be a little bit late today folks, we'll see, not sure what time I'll be back in 👍

No prob Colbs. Hopefully you had some time to put into the combo. I'm still struggling to get something submittable. Argh.

Oh, and James? If you're not promoted this week, I quit. :P Weren't you using the DS2 up until not toooo long ago? And ever since you've had it you've been kicking butt and taking names? Anyway, you're definitely up here. And don't think that because Mullen has beat you means you aren't D1 stuff, he's pretty much up here too when he can put the time in. I've seen him in action in the JGTC as well. Not to mention, he's using a DS2. This week is definitely a DFP week. 👍 you guys.

Went back to essentially my old suspension setup (extremely soft) with Kyle's transmission and LSD initial/acceleration settings, and eventually managed these splits:

T1 - 19.052
T2 - 36.674
T3 - 55.364

I'm beginning to make more stupid mistakes, so it's time to submit the time.

👍 Nicely done man. I'm still working at it... Argh.

I forgot to mention, it appears inferno and nightmarehunter also are ready for their promotions, IMO. :P

But where's all the rest of the D3 people? *sigh* :(

Soft is hardly adequate to describe my suspension (will snap loose on occasion, so I don't know how friendly it is for the DS2):

6.3/5.9
100/100 (too much bottoming out on the curbing with a lower setting)
3/3
4/4
2.5/1.4
0/0
3/3

Transmission - Final 4.100, 3rd 2.520, 4th 1.900, 5th 1.619 and 6th 1.429 (1st and 2nd don't matter)
Downforce - 30/30
LSD - 8/15/5
Forgot to tighten the brakes, so they were still at 3/3
No driving aids (they take all the fun out of it :))

Well that figures, now that I've submitted my time, everyone decides to post their setups! Oh well, I had been using Duck's for the whole thing, only messing with the LSD and gearing. I think the lap I submitted had a T3 of 55.749, respectable, but I know I could've gotten a 55.4xx based on previous T2s that I threw off track afterwards.

Well I was about to submit because I can't even get close to AngelCreators time, but I might have to run a few more laps to try and get in front of Eggstor (not sure if I can though :scared:).

First freaking submittable lap. That has any speed to it anyway. :grumpy:
18.841
36.400
55.176
Blah. This week isn't keeping me too happy. It's making me sort of depressed actually, I ate all the cashews and had too many cookies. Laguna Seca always seems to do that though when really pushing it. There's just soooo much time in there though that can't be tapped because I'm not smooth enough, especially with this gluey tires.

I'll do a few more laps, but I really don't want to go on too much further. :indiff:

F'n aye.
18.667 Then off, of course. I can't go fast through the whole track though, it's all luck without the smoothness and accuracy of the DFP. I'm tired of this. And tired in general. Argh.

Final settings are:

8/6
100/100
4/4
7/7
2/1
0/0
5/3

BB is 7/5

LSD is 0/15/15

Downforce is 30/30

Gearing is 4.100 final, auto 10, 4th and 5th lengthened(1.940 and 1.585 respectively), 6th slightly shortened(to 1.385).

Shifting either right at the redline or just before.

Tried to better my time but couldn't, saw a couple of 54.9's but stuffed up the remaining corners. Another hour or so and I could probably run a clean lap with a sub 55 T3, but I just get too frustrated trying to push this car to my limits on this unforgiving track. Now I have to rely on my last sector to grab second place, but I don't think it was that good so I hoping for third place in Div2.

Submitting time now.

Time submitted, previous splits.

I'm a little disappointed that setup details weren't forthcoming from racers a bit sooner. It was fairly easy to go down the wrong track with this car, so some helpful tips from experienced racers would always be appreciated. I think I was only the second person to post any real setup information, and that was only 48 hours before the deadline. I know there have been some setups posted subsequently but it's a bit late now.

I'm not having a go at anyone here, but it's a courtesy to post at least general setup info when posting your splits.

Anyway, great combo Colby. You've certainly picked a high note on which to leave. :)

I would have posted what my setup but im not doing anything that you guy's arn't doing already. Most of my time was found from getting use to the car and track with 30/30 downforce. Anyway i think i still have alot to learn about setting a car up on GT4 as its not very realistic at all.
Anyway if i find something that you guys may find useful i would be glad to post it for everyone :dopey: :dopey:

Finding a way to drive this car with a DS2 was kinda tricky at first, i started off with T3 of 57.7's at first. I got there in the end but my DS2 don't like me much now lol
