GT4P: Drift Video

Omnis
wow, you injured your hand?

how much resistance does the wheel actually give?

because all i could mount it to is this tablemate thing i have, i hope the resistance doesnt pick it up from the floor and start spinning it wildly in the air.

..that would suck.

cant wait for gt4, maybe ill make a wild and crazy tablemate psychotic spinning drift video.

x_X

My wrist was sore from not doing hand over hand steering, imagine drifting and steering with just your left hand, right hand shifting, and left hand having to counterteer the 900 degree wheel. Now I've gotten used to downshifting and getting back on the wheel with both hands for hand over hand into opposite lock.

it give quite a bit of resistence when you turn the Force feedback all the way to 100%, however you do have the option of turning it to only 60% (the way you get it out of the box), also you can turn the wheel to the regular mode and no 900 degree but that takes the fun out of trying to budge the wheel into a turn. It was way more realistic that i had expected, but that only adds to the suspence of whats gonna be in teh real game. There is a TCS control in the options menu, but otehr than that, the closest thing is the "driving assist" in the men before you start a race. Great powerslides there Breaker, its good to see these poping up more often, I'm still trying to get used to teh 900 degree part, only had the wheel for 3 days, but so far its damn fun.

question breaker, do you use the tires that are the 1st in the tire selection? Also, how far are you usually turning the wheel when you do the drifts? I can see the tires are turning quite a bit in the vids, but my timing is always WAY off whenever I try to drift. Any tips or suggestions to help me out, they're gladly appreciated.

GREAT vid. 👍 that's S14, right? it's more rounder on the rear. yay :dopey:

I select the first tire selection (this should be the street tires). But any of the tires will do too once you get the hang of the physics. Anyhow, to help answer your question, you need to turn the wheel with respect to the angle your car is drifting. When I did the drift at about 3mins that was a full locked countersteer, doesn't happen all the time, but when I can do, I prefer this since its the greatest angle I get. Most drifts will require you to turn the wheel where it is at or a little past upside down (180+ degrees) depending on your drift angle.

Another good vid nice to see cars drifting with such great graphics great vid BreakerOhio 👍

Hey that was awesome. What do you use to drift? 900 degree wheel, 180 degree wheel, or ps2 controller?

thanks BreakerOhio :)
when I made this video I had the 180 degree wheel, now I have a 900!
I had a few adaptation time but now I'm drift with it.
I have a video with a 900 degree in action.
I shall show them to you when I would have the place on my hoster

I like your style, I've seen your FBI videos, you really got some skill. Hows the 900 degree drift coming along?

thanks :)

I needed a little of time before being able to drift with the 900° but with the practice it is more than possible. 👍

Thats the good additude! I have confidence that you will be able to pick it up soon. From my observations of your drifts in GT3 using a wheel, I think we share the same style. You are pretty aggressive and in control of your drifts, my kind of style, keep it up man!

thanks man
I saw your video with the nissan sivia and the 900°!!

I do not know certainly if we share the same style but a thing is sure it is that you have talent because I know that it is very difficult to drift in gt4p especially with a 900°

I saw the fbi team video where I think its you, correct me if I'm wrong, but you're the one drifting around the AI cars in GT3. Thats one of my favorite things to do because in replays you can get nice camera shots from switching to the AI cars views and observing your drifts from the front or the back. Great stuff. I don't know if you've seen many of my older GT3 videos, but I think our style is similar, I can't do the same style in Prologue since the cars are all stock, but if I could I would be manjiing the straights, chokudori-ing and drifting around the AI cars or doing 180 reverse to forward moves like I saw with the IS300 in one of the FBI videos. The 900 degree drift physics is very rewarding, so much so that I just can't find myself returning to GT3 to drift in 180 anymore. So much to learn with the 900 degree wheel.

It took me around 3 weeks, playing on the weekends, to get a feel for the amount of countersteer and braking technique required to get oversteer, I practiced alot on the Grand Canyon, I'd recommend learning there first.

nice video breakerohio.
may i ask a couple of questions?

what was the song title?
Is gt4 prologue drifting easily executed similarly to gt3's? if it's not, did you have to use the e-brakes?
how does the skyline feel? Is e-brake a 'necessity' or can you executed 4wd drifts like gt3?

Drifting in GT4 Prologue isn't easy to do, I think you really have to own a wheel to do it, I can't do it without the wheel. Ebrakes aren't required, all the drifts in my BreakerOhio_GT4DriftShowoff were done without ebrake. The skyline is the easiest in my opinion to drift out of all the cars in GT4 Prologue....but this is a comparision, I still would categorize drifting in Prologue much more difficult than GT3.
