I think there is no way to unlock this cars....but I would realy like to drive Nissan R390 GT1.....!:(

I made another thread about this same topic, and Arwin said that it was possible to use these cars by hacking some files on the disc and reburning it. I offered $20 to anyone that could do that for me to make me a custom car list, and that offer still stands...

what about GameShark/X-Port system? I remember in GTC that you could switch one car out for another with it..

Not possible in GT4 Prologue because the garage isn't actually stored in the gamesave like it was in GT3 or GTC. Which is a d#$rn pity, isn't it?

So where does it save the garage? One would assume it's on the memory card somewhere, otherwise I imagine you would have to start over every time you turned on the game.

and so it begins... post #1 :)

Cars in the garage are not tunable, so they can be stored on the disc, leaving on the mem card only the info about which car you unlocked.
GT3 used a personal garage, which had then to be stored on the mem card, and since GTC was based on GT3 they probably didn't bother to change the way data was stored.

Yet, I find strange that a GT4:P save is about 150 kb big while a 200-car garage save for GT3 is 199 kb. Car data could be stored in the file as far as I know.
But I trust Arwin if he says it's not. He certainly explored the subject much more than I did.

Jesus. I had no idea there were that many cars in the game. I'd love to try out the MAZDA RX-8 LM `01. I never noticed that when racing in the lessons......I guess I just went flying past it too quick to notice it

Cheers

I seem to remember the number of cars in the game being closer to 200. I'll look into this more fully over the weekend. I'll also try to figure out the name of the guy who did it, although I'm sure he did it by just renaming some files in the iso and then burning it back on DVD. The effect was that you got a car with the wrong body, basically, so to do it properly you'd need to change the parts database also. You should be able to hybrid this way too, and change the cars settings, but it will cost you a disc each time ...

TBH Arwin, I'm just as happy to wait until GT4 is released. I'm a big Mazda/rotary fan and I'd love to see how much different that RX-8 is from the normal road going version.

There was mention on here the other day about "unlocking" some of these cars, but as with anything like this (like you said) some things may not look quite right.

Cheers

It's the first car you overtake in the Mclaren F1 test...

God damn that test annoyed me!!

If your PS2 can read JP-NTSC or PAL discs, try and get GT Concept. You'll have the Maxda RX-8 LM Race Car in the 787B orange/green paint. No need to wait until GT4 for that...
