I'd certainly agree on the Elan and the '53 'Vette; two great handling cars. Just as good, and not mentioned yet, is the Suzuki GSX-R/4.

I don't know about you guys, but I fully modded an older RX7 13B and it was pretty much the best handeling car I have.. Quick, swift, stable, sharp turn in, easy change of direction, etc.

First post since '07... it's the Mercedes CLK-LM (or GTR as they call it in 4). I used to eat Group C's for breakfast in that thing stock. It is also one of the best handling cars in GT5 and GT6.

^ Sweet.

I can't race in that view anymore, eversince I started racing with the hood view.

I find it hard to judge turns in ariel view.

Fully agree. I did only cockpit view in GT5, and really don't like any of the 3 views in GT4. The Chase/aerial view is like an old arcade game, the bumper is unrealistically low, so I use the roof view. Seems most sim-like. Think about it, you don't drive a real car glued to the front bumper, or while floating above and behind it, and you certainly don't control any car with a hand-held dual shock controller! Buy a wheel if resources allow.

That's my $0.02

Corvette GranSport model, the one that's only available in admiral blue,
front end grip is very good, with or without driving aids, the rear end can be unstuck when aids are off, but the front end means you can correct for it very easily, its great fun round Costi D'Amalfa and Cote D'azure

my only problem with it is that i only have one and i'd like another to tune!!!

It'll come around again. I'm sure you're famiarwith the NTSC/NA Used Car List; there's something similar for the PAL version kicking around here somewhere. You do know that the UCL repeats every 100 weeks, right?

Besides, you can always duplicate the one you have.

Yeah I just bought my second Griffith, the next week i got my Corvette, so should be pretty close to roll round. What scares me is the lack of progress over 100 days...

Talking of the second Griffith, I tuned it using all the top spec parts, wings, racing tyres, i also added some rims, it can understeer a little bit but its so fast, and when you get it going well its awesome, maybe even good enough to make it my new best handling car...

No surprise here, I think the Ford GT40, along with the '05 GT, are the centerpieces of the game, which divides up into cars that are faster, and cars that are slower. And it takes a pretty fearsome car to be faster.
Being heavy cars, they stick to the road better on the harder tread compounds. After I switched from controller to gtforce wheel and learned how to drive them, it was amazing how responsive they actually are.
I have concluded that the '05 is one of the cars that, as the game implies, is better 'stock' than loaded down with improvements.
The GT40 doesn't seem to have merited any concentrated discussion, perhaps because it's hard to find a good race to use it in. I suggest two-player mode with the Chaparral 2D at Sarthe II. Turn the volume up and let the glory of 1960s racing fill the room.

or if you have a home theater, that would attract all the ricers around your neighborhood
My opinions on the Best Handling: Mazda AZ-1. i have to agree with the OP it just feels perfect.
