Rain slicks were confirmed from a screen grab of a demo. This leads me to believe there are more options than what the pictures show, as the tire options didn't show any rain tire options. As far as stage 1,2,3, I'm guessing this may be an auto setup for people that don't know how to specifically tune their car themselves, or there could be other options in a sub menu. It looks as if they are making the menu's really clean and easy to navigate.

EDIT: Rain slicks: http://imgur.com/FEMEX.jpg

The chassis strengthening first option is a front and rear strut brace going off the photo. I'm on my PS3 at the moment so I can't post it.

Wet/Rain tyres are an option of the Gamescom demo, reported by Madmajor, Famine and myself.

Hmm... Not sure what that pic means. It has one 'normal' option? And what are the four s options? Is one of them rain? Grr why is it so different to the other screens :( Anyone know German?

But can you install them separately?

It's the setup screen before the race - after chosing your car with the usual options as driving aids, TCS, driving line, etc. You can choose "Regenreifen hart" = "wet tyres, hard".

They are in the demo 100%.

I've been to the Gamescom, and two other members including Famine, independently reported this choice of tyres.

Yeah I'm waiting for some translating in another thread too. People may be jumping the gun here.

EDIT: I suggest you find the relevant tuning screen pictures and put them in your OP, nasanu.

I know google translator isn't the best, but I took the last option of tires - "regenreifen hart" and it translated into "rain mature hard".

Yep I'll do that, good idea. Just got to step out for a bit first. Going to be a busy night for me collecting all these details and moving my websites to a new host.

Now it is good that i am from germany :D i can help guys

First of all Hart means Hard , Mittel means Medium ,Weich means Soft and Superweich means Supersoft ( you know this from F1 )

Normal = Normal Tyres
Sport Hart = Sport Tyres Hard
Sport Mittel = Sport Tyres Medium
Sport Weich = Sport Tyres Soft
Sport Superweich = Sport Tyres Supersoft

Renn Slicks Hart = Race Slicks Hard
Renn Slicks Weich = Race Slicks Soft
Renn Slicks Superweich = Race Slicks Supersoft

Regenreifen Hart = Rain Tyres Hard

This means that we will get a Rain feature ( i personally think the first rain feature will be not good because we don't saw rain in any videos but i think 3-4 weeks after the realase they would make a Rain Update but maybe i am wrong and the rain is awesome :D )

Thanks 👍 This is pretty cool, with dynamic weather, clouds could come in and start to rain forcing you to hit the pits and throw on some rain tires.

No problem ,right guy
GT 5 will be just awesome
I will open a 1 hour server with 250-300 ps cars on Nordschelife and with changing weather this will be just amazing , and we saw awesome Pits in the Nascar videos .... 👍

I think the fact that in the demo some tires appear but are not buyable on the latest tuning screens is proof enough to say that those screens don't show all the features of tuning of each part we've seen (tires, engine, body, suspension kits and exhaust system).

Thats what I was thinking, you never know maybe if you click on the pics you get a whole new menu with more options.

I am a bit disappointed! these "stages" tuning looks for me like default tuning! no free choice of the parts?!

I hope it is not the case!

in GT4 you have more options of tuning! didn´t you?!

Be patient, not everything has been revealed yet. I think they divided the tuning section more than just Engine, Suspension, Brakes, etc. into more categories.

As for the 'stages', there really isn't a different between it and the Sport, Semi-Racing and Racing in previous games except for the name - you will be able to change the advanced settings of them later on.

yeah i hope ur right pierce lead!

i can not imagine that they have cut the tuning options! that´s what gran turismo is about!

This still leaves me confused. What is 'normal'? And why the 4 types of sports tyre, but only three types of slicks and only hard rain tyres? More questions than answers here.

has anyone else noticed that the hood, mufflers, engine etc are not pictures of real life parts but actual in game models. specially the engine it looks like its made of all these different parts which can break and dismantle from one another. anyone else has the same vision?

I wish people would stop complaining about the tuning, especially about it being similar to GT4. It is already obvious it's slightly more advanced from the tiny portion of upgrade options we've seen (individual exhaust components purchaseable, carbon fibre hoods, weight reduction broken into more components), but even so GT4 had an adequate list of upgrades, the setup options could be added to however but I'm not overly worried, it will be awesome at any rate.
I see we're being ripped off, Comfort tyres always used to be free in previous GT games.;)

Its very unlikely for NoS to blow an engine, unless the engine is borderline at least, I hope we have more realistic applications for it eg. using it too balance the power curve of a high power turbo car rather then increase peak output.

This :D The few parts you can buy that you see in these screens surpasses GT4 by a lot. For the exhausts in particular, it's no longer 3 preset packages (Sports, Semi-Racing and Racing). Now it's you pick and choose which parts you want, which is quite a step up if it does the same for other areas.

...

And what does Increased Chassis Rigitidy have to do with suspension/tyre upgrades? ;) You need that in the same section as Weight Reduction, like in the actual screenshots.

engines are made of lots of different parts anyway.. what thatb screen shows to me is the old N/A tunning options

ENGINE options in GT4
NA Tuning S1,S2,S3
Port Polish
Engine Balancing
Displacement UP
Racing Chip
Nitrous

so there will be more options but what your looking at seems to be the old N/A engine tunning bit which was anoying not to have for turbo cars as you would still need to do all the internals on a turbo engine anyway..

as for ths main engine used in the picture any nissan head will tell you that that is a nigh on perfect copy of a VQ37HR engine as used in the 370z

370z_engine2.jpg

although they havent quite got the water outlet correct.. and in the real pictures its missing its cam chain covers.. PD does love nissan :D
