It shouldn't have to be a "must." It's rediculous that this problem is still here! I don't mean that they should fix it now in spite of recent events but this should have been caught before the game was released. They saw that there was a problem with their saved files so they "fixed" it with 1.07. That "fix" made it 17.5 times worse! Don't they test their software before releasing it?!
No, I think they don't, and they like games that have glitches.:dopey:

I'm level 40 A Spec and if this happens I will commit suicide.

I was at level 40 A-spec one week ago today(friday) and it crashed with all my credits as well ...I was left with the trophies and some videos of cars I didn't own anymore...
Started fresh with a new Suzuki cap car and went straight to the Eifel race in K-car seasonals and after 2 races there I was already at level 15 and bought the Ferrari 458 Italia and went straight to La Sarthe and financial freedom.
After 1 week I am now back up to level 36 A-spec with 261 cars and an overflowing bank account...I just bought out the OCD and bought all 17 Race Mod eligible cars to bling out!...
So I had some time on my hands. :)

Level 39 with less than a few races left to get to 40 in A-spec, level 40 B-spec.
9 X2010's with prototypes and 458 cars, mostly premium.

I pulled the plug on my unit without any backup, because the system locked up.

I am now back at level 0, start again. Spent the last hour trying to do DB recovery and system file recovery, no luck. The system shows an amount of memory which reflects my game progress, but is ****ed from being used.

I need help on how to recover my system. Otherwise I'm done with sony and their s*i* system.

The wonder of being ****ed in the ass by sony is an ongoing issue and not at all wonderful.
Fail=Sony.

No Quake could shake this s**ty programming.

:nervous:

That's not good , happened to me a couple of months ago and I had to re-gold half of my licence tests.
GT5 always needs to be backed up.... It's sad but true....

So you pulled the plug because you wrongly thought that it had locked up and you think that is Sony's fault. The game must have been saving when you pulled the plug which has corrupted your save file and there is no way to restore the file if you had no backup.

This has just happened to me after an online race, the ps3 crashed i restarted it and boom, back to beginning! what a ****ing joke! i was on level 16, i can't belive this..........

It doesn't make me feel better though I've been restarted to level 19.:dunce:

This happened to me today! I exited a race and the game froze, i quit and the whole PS3 restarted. when I started GT5 again everything was gone... all my cars and money! some things are still there though like my pictures and a track I created.

I can't believe people still get mad about this happening when it's so easy to do a back up save every time you exit the game. NO drive lasts forever and even newer ones aren't stable or reliable. It's just common sense to back up everything. My PS3 hard drive crashed after only 3 months and I hardly ever used it so it just shows you that you can't trust a hard drive. I didn't care because I back up everything constantly. It's quick and easy. Be thankful you aren't playing Forza where you can only have your save on the hard drive which is a real pain.

it did happen to me 5 day ago level 40 and more than a 1000 car. level 32 now and recovered the important car and tune.

It happens when you quit the game or turn off PS3 whilst it is still saving, for example when finishing a race and going back to home menu, ALWAYS wait till your on your home screen and you can move the cursor around.

Bingo! No more corrupt data.

Also you can't go wrong with a USB back up in case your PS3 turns off by accident.
