Okay, I really think this deserves its own thread, so here goes.

Gran Turismo 5 is playable on at least two demo pods at IFA 2010 (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin). A consumer electronics show in Berlin. The show is open from 3rd September to 8th September 10am to 6pm daily. It's open to everybody, so if anyone is in the Berlin area who can get to the show, or if there is anyone on gtplanet who is already going, you might find you can get an early play with GT5!

This thread is for any information regarding the demo, which could be a totally new build, or maybe something similar to the Best Buy demo we have seen in the past few days. We won't know for sure until someone with a camera gets there.

How do I know this is true? Well, Sony Europe posted this tweet a few hours ago:

Here is what it looks like:

cant they just give us all a DEMO on PSN!??? Wanna try it again D: Everything was worthless after i tried the Demo December/Januari last year! That was an amazing feeling in that game. loved it!

Seriously, some of you guys have no patience.Less than 2 months will go quick and then we all get the full roast dinner.

I would take the GT Academy Time Trial again.

Me too. I didn't feel I was done with it when it expired. I see no reason why they couldn't just have released it without the expiration date and let people enjoy it after the Academy competition had ended.

Australia? No it doesn't exist. It's a mythical continent.

Unfortunately we have too small a population to have any real impact and therefore importance in most matters. Europe`s population 1 billion?, USA 400 million. Aust 20 million. If you wanted to sell your product where would you concentrate? :dunce:

Aust has always and will always get things last and pay more for the privilege 👎

Not trying to get picky. (especially since your point still stands)

However, the U.S.'s population is around 300 million.

Europe is trickier since there is always a debate regarding which countries should be included. But I usually hear estimates that are made for economic purposes put Europe's population around 350 million.

Not a Billion. :dunce::)

I'm curious what these economic reasons are; the EU member states constitute 500 million at least.

Even so,

We were the last to have a release date .. uh .. released
Our actual release date makes us the last people on earth to get the game
Our SE costs $300 (work the conversion rates)
We get no demo setups despite us being closer to Japan and having demo worthy stores (Harvey Norman, JB Hi Fi etc)

Heck there's probably more but regardless, very poor treatment 👎

Don't feel too bad, the Sig edition is not available in the US, although at that price I doubt I would buy one anyway. The CE is high enough at $100.

Just curious, what is the release date for "down under", and does that include New Zealand too?

Our standard base model GT5 is $120

Aus release date is the 4th which is only one day behind but that's not the point, it's the principle.

That is pretty stout for the standard game, but the 4th isn't too bad.
On previous releases you had to wait a lot longer didn't you?

As far as the principle, I guess about the only thing you can do on that, is write the Aussie equivalent of your congressman.
Although I doubt that would be a top priority with him or her. ;)

Here is a good example. Which is very common.

Wasn't speaking of political boundaries. Which would probably put it around 500 million. But I guess in hindsight I shouldn't have replied to his post off the top of my head. :)

Well, the use of that currency is delimited by the political boundaries anyway, so you were, technically. :P

Also, by using that method, you're automatically excluding places such as the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Czech Republic etc - some of which are also excluded by the EU.

Euro: 22 countries
EU: 27 countries
Europe: 50 countries

Europe, as a "continent" supports around 700 million people. How many of these 50 countries will see GT5, I don't know. Sony Europe supports 45 - SCEE might not do the same, though.

On topic:
This was posted in the Latest News and General Discussion thread.
We await a non-cropped version :D

i think that some members think that sony make all the time a new demo for each "show" like gamescom ifa or what ever
lool that is the same demo like in gamescom or a older build

Just noticed this on the Latest News thread so I thought I had better post it up here too:

This is all we have so far from IFA 2010.

Looks pretty sweet though...

I've seen it for 75-85.... most stores are selling for around 100. The CE is 129 retail
