This is really retarded to say, but I am going to do it...

How can things ever look significantly better than this?

Obviously they will with the next gen, but Jesus do they look good now.

Frankly, I think we're about at a graphic plateau with GT5. What will improve with the next gen is more objects on screen and better effects, like below.

Would have thought by now PD would implement cars reflecting other cars.
This rarely happens in any game, even those for high end PCs. The framerate hit is even worse than from smoke effects. Eventually, this will come, but for a while yet, all we're going to see are environment reflections.

Yes I think the cars are about as good as it gets. Yes things can be touched up or sharpened here and there but overall there won't be "vast" improvements IMO. IMO for PS4 and GT6 the cars will look identical to what we saw in the Ferrari F458 video, which I beleive is GT5 realtime but turned up to max settings that are only stable with 1 car. Hopefully GT5 car assets can be used for the next generation GT which should shorten development time.

I think with GT6 for PS4 we'll get true 1080P @ an imoveable 60fps, Max AA, 30+ cars on track, lots of extra things like marbles around the racing line, exhaust smoke out of mufflers, large dust and smoke clouds, etc etc and the one thing that tops everyone's wishlist, 3-D trees.

According to Moore's law technology doubles every 18 months. Playstation 3 uses 2005 technology. By the time we get Playstation 4 in 2012-13 technology will be 10x better meaning PS4 graphics should be 10x better then PS3 graphics.

in the pitstop part there is just one minor detail that i thik should be corrected: there are just three guys changing wheels......the other one does not seem to fit for there is someone filling the tank. i hope im wrong about it.........what do you think guys?

gt5 graphics are just ......real!!

The graphics are realistic and beautiful, but they do not look totally real to me. I think there is no need for the cars to improve polygon-count-wise... just the rendering, lighting, resolution, AA and environment details.

The good news is that the PS4 is highly likely to be a beefed up PS3 (architecture-wise) so the time programmers spent sweating with the PS3 will be an investment come the PS4. I can't see why PD would want or need to spend (much) time re-doing car models. Now they have them, it should hopefully be like a library they can pull from and time can be spent building that library and adding to game features :)

^^

Agreed, with such high quality models there's really no need to add more polys. In terms modeling I really can't see how much better they could make them.

That Mercedes is the new sexiest car , as well the most muscle looking car in the world!!!
Ferrari have the sexi behind it but no muscle look
Lambo have the ruler look but not sexi
Porsche... looks like Sushi dish
Evertying else is just a car.

I think the new SLS is trully a sports car look.

The pic of the GT-R looks kinda like the Star Trek Enterprise going into warp speed (the trees, signs, and guardrails)

I mean that in a good way, great sense of speed from a still picture:tup:

WOW, the graphics are simply stunning 👍
I dont care who's gonna come up now and starts talking about AA and graphical things like that...

Just look at the seatbelts and the radio cable from the Co - Driver - WOW

Once a week for the next 3 weeks, we will be bringing you new screen shots from the version of Gran Turismo 5 shown at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show.

Part 1 includes the "Ferrari 458 Italia" that debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the "Lamborghini Gallardo", staged on the "Tokyo Route 246". In addition to the detailed, alluring cars, check out the beautifully reproduced urban course, in which you can almost feel the air around you.

kudos to ssx of GAF.

Has anyone noticed how all the screenshots with ferrari's in them have little disclaimers about ferrari while all other car manafacturers don't get that individual disclaimer? Whats up with that? I guess it must be a contractual agreement between PD and Ferrari but still...

+1 👍

I dindt notice it, but you are definately right. Most screenshots from other games dont even have a disclaimer.
Maybe Ferrari and PD are working on some kind of promotion or partnership program or something. I hope we will see more Ferrari cars in GT5 and maybe some sort partnership for future cars and concepts.

If the server would be faster i could provide you 1920x1080 pics. 8(
