To be honest, with the ease at which you can just download a game save, unless they check it wasn't created with your ID originally, I'd rather just have nothing transferred to make it level pegging for everybody. If somebody goes online with an uber fast car, then they clearly earned it.

I can't believe no one caught this until the second page. :dunce:

With the ease of downloading a gamesave to your PS3, there really isn't much reason to start off with more than the bare bones. If you want more, download a gamesave. There is sure to be hundreds of gamesaves weeks after release with varying degrees of completeness.

I'm all for starting from scratch, as I have for all the previous games in the series. It's the progression that gets me going. With the addition of more cars and tracks, possibly a Livery Editor (I can dream), and a much larger fleshed out career mode, I couldn't fathom doing anything but starting from scratch.

I don’t think you’ll be to get some one else saved data any more. In KY interview he states that in the future you’ll be able to keep you cars (garage/ money and licenses) and transfer them to the next GT5 or 6. Now I’m thinking we’ll have it in GT5 and if that’s so everything will be saved with your PSN name and system profile in bedded in the data. He hasn’t confirmed it but I think we’ll get it. In GT3 and 4 everything we earned was saved in our garage. Here is the paragraph...

As for the future of Gran Turismo for PSP and its interface with Gran Turismo 5, Yamauchi remains vague about details. He did confirm that Polyphony Digital isn't planning DLC for the PSP game, but the idea of car ownership across the series continues to intrigue him. "These are just preliminary thoughts but [regarding] the cars in a user's garage: It's their cars. We're thinking about maybe being able to transfer your cars from your PSP garage straight into your Gran Turismo 5 garage. But that's just something we're considering. I'm hoping to make it so that the cars you get in the game are your cars. So that even when the system changes, whether it be from PSP to GT5 to even future renditions of GT6 and on, [you can keep the cars you've collected]."

To be honest, nothing in that interview says anything about "game saves" being transferred between PS3's. It's really more of a PS3 issue than a game issue. If your PS3 supports trading game saves, there shouldn't be any reason you cannot download a game save from the net and utilize it. Your PS3 really shouldn't know the difference. Unless, PD put some weird kind of lock on this feature (which no other PS3 game has done to my knowledge), there's no reason to suspect it won't be possible.

;)

To be honest, I'll probably transfer my cars, but I'll probably keep the default money amount and I'm definitely gonna play through the "sim" mode as if I had a clean start. THe only thing I'll do with the cars I transfer will be racing in the arcade mode.

Yes it doesn’t say anything about game saves. I was pointing out you’ll be able to transfer your garage between the PSP and the PS3. My thoughts on that are KY may require your PSN name and system profile to be in bedded in the data so you wont be able to gain key items. Not saying cars but licenses and money. He also clearly states that it will take the help of the PSP and GT5 to gain all the cars between the two. So which in turn may state that GT5 Mobil and GT5 may be tied together? Maybe not we’ll just have to wait and see.

Killzone 2 has a savegame lock that prevents you from copying it. :scared: The PS3 definitely supports copy-prevention.

That said, I couldn't care less about cars/money being transferred from GT5P to the full version. I have seen at what rate one can earn money by driving GT5P online; you can earn the F1 in a single night if you want.

So if I want the cash, I'll just drive my 65HP Fiat against other 65HP Fiats and buy myself a nice, funky ride at the end of the evening. :) (Unless the game makes you progress through the different cars by unlocking them or something like that)

Also, I would rather have an online profile, makes it easier to restore if you switch PS3 or reformat the HD or need to reinstall.

Yes true but that may change.

That is scary. I was not aware of this, as I don't play FPS games, really. However, you can utilize any save that you can get onto your PS3, with GT5:P, so I'm still hesitant to believe they will all of a sudden decide to lock the feature for the full game.

Why did you quote my post then, if it wasn't actually relevant to my point?

I'm there with you on that.............start from scratch. 👍

Buying your first car and working your way up the ladder to the top,it's a great feeling knowing that you did this by yourself without the aid of car, credit transfers. It also makes you a little more wise in your car buying selection as you progress through the game.

Having a million credits or whatever and xxxxx amount of cars to start the game off is too easy. Go work for it,you will progress just fine without it. :)
