Well, I'm not T-12, but for me it looks just a little better through the lab method.Edit: ok I tried everything out and it works as intended, but I have a few question for you. For the lab method couldn't you just hit hue and saturation in RGB and boost the saturation up more. I tried this and got identical results. Also I am guessing it's just your preference, but why don't you use the adjustment layers? You could easily go back and edit something if you feel it was too much.
