I truly believe that GT5 will have everything that forza does, other wise it would be stupid not to.
That is going in my sig and I hope to hell that you are right but knowing PD's track record I am just a little bit apprehensive that; will they actually go all out with GT5?

Sorry guys but I have to agree with Dave A,

oh and in my view all forza has on GT5 is that there seems to be a more advanced physics engine (e.g. skid marks and tuning engine and body work) and the fact that it is out. But in my view I think that PD has delayed the release date to see what Forza 2 is like and then so they can blow it out of the water. I truly believe that GT5 will have everything that forza does, other wise it would be stupid not to.

I am with Diab on this one. If GT5 truly comes out with everything that Forza 2 has (which will never happen) then I will buy a PS3 and GT5 the same day. :sly: You can even save my quote because I stick to my word. Also GT5 will not be out this year. No way.

To start with, GT5 would have to allow 4,100 vinyls per car and each one of those vinyls has to be completely customizable. This means they can be rotated, stretched out, any color and can be saved to be applied later onto any car. Thats just the start of everything they would have to have. This is the main feature that got me hooked on Forza even though Forza only allowed 600 vinyls per car. Now imagine 4,100 per car!!!

There is the ability to completely customize cars with body kits, many real life parts, swap engines, swap drive trains making FWD cars become RWD, change wheel/tire width, wheel/tire diameter, incredible physics, intelligent AI, pick any color I want for my car, window tint color, paint my wheels any color I want, paint my calipers, 47 tracks, 12 different environments, leaderboards that automatically update after each race, sell cars online with other players, buy cars online with other players, and...... wait for it.......wait for it......and GET PAID IN THE CAREER MODE TO PLAY WITH 7 FRIENDS ONLINE AT 60FPS IN THE ONLINE CAREER MODE.

When GT5 gets all of this is when I will buy a PS3 and GT5. (Well I might buy a PS3 some day if other fun games come out but you get my point) :sly:

You got it right this time :sly:;).

I'm very hopeful that GT5 will take the series further than it's gone before, the series needs it. Body mods seem likely, engine swaps are as far as Kaz has said, in. We did see a screen that mentioned a livery editor, so heres hoping, but that was a targets screen of what they'd like to include and nothing else. I'm remaining hopeful but I'm also remembering that according to Kaz, GT4 was going to feature almost twice as many parst to tune your car with as GT3.

oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has no one here got a PS3 then, does that mean none of you has played GT HD. If not u really should find some way of getting your hands on a controller and having a go, it looks really good.the only dissapointment is just the sounds are a bit ,BLUH!!!!

So would you say i am being a bit optimistic., is it just likly to be a let down like GT3!

I would say just look at those who preach Gran Turismo even when it's the same every iteration, unfortunately when you have people like this why does PD even have to bother whereas if they actually looked at how poor GT is compared to Forza in features and longevity they might actually make PD take note and say look we have to have this, this, this and that, the people want it otherwise we'll lose them.

I love GT, I would defend it also but Forza has changed that, GT is falling down the grid fast and the new contender Forza is sharply gaining for the top spot, it's like current F1 with Alonso and Hamilton, I could of course eat these words if Alonso becomes World Champion again. lol

There was nothing wrong with GT3 imo, it was GT4 that was the let down, over a year of delays and we got a game that I didn't find enjoyable. GT3 was enjoyable, had a better structure to the game and I spent far more time playing GT3 even though it had less cars than I spent playing GT4. I would expect less content than GT4, probably more than GT3, but certainly less than GT4, I just hope they make the game fun again as well as increasing the realism. Give the game some structure back and make every car in stock trim able to compete in at least one race series on a level field.

I googled GT5 prologue and found a site http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/825html that states that they have interviewed Sony/PD and they stated that GT5 will be out in Japan in late 2007/Europe early 2008 and GT5 prologue will be released for download this fall from the playstation network. In my opinion if its released in Japan late 2007 than more than likely they will release it here around the holiday season to suck up all those holiday dollars!! I think PD understands that they can't afford another 2 1/2-3 yr production period with Forza2 out now and other racing games on the way! Also has anyone seen the video for NFS 2008 on youtube, if that's what the graphics are going to be like, than GT has another direct competitor, heck if that's what the graphics are like I might say the hell with GT5.........or maybe I'll just rent it first to see if PD has stepped their game up!!!

That link takes me to a "page no found" page. Old comments may suggest a late 2007 release, but the current info from PD is that GT5: Prologue will be realased later this year with GT5 expected sometime in 2008. As for Forza 2 determining what PD can and can't get away with release date wise, I think you need to look at the fact that Forza 2 is out now in some places, so even IF GT5 was released in Japan this winter it's still 6 months later than Forza 2. But GT5 will not be released this year,

Finally, whether I get the next NFS game or not, it will have no bearing on if I get GT5 or not. That's like saying I've got Burnout Dominator so I don't need Forza 2.

As I said in previous threads, with the PS3s graphic capabilties there are going to be a lot of racing games coming out over the years to rival GT in graphics and NFS 2008 will more than likely be out by November. So PD needs to get on the ball and let people know that their company is still alive and well:)

But that doesn't change the fact the Need For Speed and Gran Turismo are almost polar opposites when it comes to racing games. I agree that PD really ought to be releasing some info, new screens, perhaps details of a new track ect at this point in time but that's not changing where Gran Turismo stands in relation to Forza and NFS.

I'd say that is correct Dave. 👍
Also, I believe PD may not be releasing more info simply because there is no more info to release at the moment (except for media such as screens). However, even then PD may be conserving efforts to ensure the game is good rather than the media coverage being good.

Forza2 is finally out and I plan on stopping in at the game store today to find out if the FM2 stuff has been hype or what... I know a few things for sure but the most important issues are still mysteries to me (physics and the Ring).

That said and getting back to the subject of this thread...

I doubt PD will release GT5 any time sooner than fall '08 (at best).
I have absolutely no faith in PD's ability to release a game on schedule (or even remotely close to schedule).

I reserved a copy of GT4 pretty much the day it was allowed... I waited for a very, very long time (I want to say over a year but it's been a long time and my memory isn't perfect). 👎

I'd rather have PD delay the release of GT5 and not make a half assed game. I don't mind waiting if I can get it whole assed.

In that latest little bit of info that was released on GT5 last week or so(where they showed PD modeling the cockpit guages of that 300 SL Merc) Kaz said the game would be ready in a year or so.

Now if Kaz said he dosen't expect the game to be finished for a year or two then I seriously don't expect to see it before mid-late '09.
