That's all fine well and good. But what would stop someone from just using a car they purchased anyhow?

How would you verify that the car used was actually the shared car?

And what mode would the hotlap events be run in?

Not to mention the logistics of trying to organize 175 participants sharing of cars among themselves.

Yes, thats true I had not thought of using a second car. I don't know if there is anything to identify the shared car. There probably is'nt, and I doubt there is any means of tagging them either.

You did ask for ideas?

I believe the car can be used in any event, so not sure what your point is there.

Regardless of the logistics of organising the participants, without the control over the car the whole idea is pointless.

Let's just class the idea as a FAIL.

No ready to class it a fail yet, I was just challenging some areas that might be loopholes.

We'll definitely look into the shared car idea.

I think this idea is a very plausible one if PD can add info on the car being shared and who from in the replay, but wouldn't it be much easier to have everyone sharing a car from a WRS admin PSN account, rather than between ourselves? This would mean that every competitor was running genuinely identical machinery and would also allow much wider variety in car choice as any weird/rare car on the admin account could be used by any competitor.

I did a little more digging around and found that you can see through the "Log" what car you are in and and what time you got in that car. It also states if it is a borrowed car.

Just checked on "GT5 My Home" online, and you can see friends "Logs" :embarrassed: through the website!

So I guess my theory here is you could reference the replay time and date against the time and date the car was used, or between when the next car was changed into.

Problems with this:

time is not accuratley shown until a certain time has elasped, not sure what this is but as example it might state "5 hours ago" but it will eventually say "20th Feb 22:21" for instance.

Not yet sure how many records the log keeps?

Any thoughts?

I not opend a new thread for it at GTRP, but i posted a link to GTP already. 👍

Thank you Sascha, is there any hope at all of convincing those in command at GTRP that this is a worthy cause, with benefits for all OLR enthusiasts, and asking them to front-page it?

Thank you in advance on behalf of all of us for any assistance in this matter 👍

All the best

Great writeup Maz

I increased my votes to 3, nothing more to do there I'm afraid.
(though I now have an idea about which I'll pm you later on).

Huge thanks for the support and exposure to the good folks of GTHQ for frontpaging this too:

Thank you all, your support for this has been humbling and breathtaking in its swiftness and strength

All the best

Thanks to Ramon I just found this thread. Sorry for such a simple idea but is it possible to just perhaps compose a letter/email to PD, signed by some different forums or something like that and attach the poll results? Maybe point out to them that the online PSN already has some of these data on the replay already. Being a developer I see no reason why this should be any different to the offline replays. You can even see the space is there but just not displayed, they probably just need to invoke the DisplayReplayData() function call

You mean something asking for an update to include all settings? (at least tcs, asm, srf, as, abs, grip reduction) I love the idea, I can't do a whole lot besides back you up, but I believe a multi-forum message to Sony with hundreds of dedicated racers might work. I know the name is Jordan, running this site, how to see if he is interested, I do not know.

If PSN is ever back up this is exactly what I mean, just include it in the next patch. I understand there may be some kind of incompatabilites with viewing old replays, but they could get around that by adding to the import option to "import legacy replay" or something to that effect. The functionality seems to already be there in some from in the PSN replays. How to go about asking for it is where I am unsure.

Edit:
I've made my replay complaints here

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5679000#post5679000

Please have a look and let me know if I've left anything out so I can edit the post. Hopefully PD will notice it
