Just updated to spec III yesterday, but have noticed that the frame rate has reduced drastically during gameplay, the video is not smooth like it used to be.

What can i do to rectify this?

Are the display settings still correct for your TV?

I didn't have this issue.

Yeah, the framerate did that for mine aswell, but only on TTs and drifts. Theres nothing you can do about it - and I felt annoyed like you, but over time you get used to it 👍

Well, the TV settings are ok.

I dont find this prob when i do the single race thing (with many other cars in the frame) but when i play time trial, something goes wrong.

I hope Polyphony Digital comes up with a sollution quick.

This seems an odd problem, maybe the update got corrupted during download somehow. Maybe you could delete the game data and download the update again, to see if that fixes it. My game updated perfectly fine, as I am sure it has for millions of other people. I am not sure what's gone wrong with yours.

I didn't do much with spec II other than beat the offline. Since then, I have noticed slow frame rate in some TTs. That might be a car-specific issue (bug). The one TT I can think of is the 599 at Fuji F, slooooooow frame rate.

But if i delete the game data, wont i lose everything that i've got till date?

I wanna re-download spec III without losing anything from spec II. Can that be done?

Not just event data, but also the cars that i have in my garage.

Piling up 2,000,000 cr for the F1 wasn't fun (dont wanna do it all over again).

That thread finally forced me to register after a long time of reading only :).

The problem was introduced with SPEC III and exists only in 50Hz Modes. Sony has not implemented a user accessible 50/60Hz switch on PAL Consoles. All games on a PAL PS3 run in 50Hz, if the PS3 is set to a SD resolution and the game supports a 576 line mode. The only exception are some imports that only run in 480i/p with 60Hz.

Sadly, some games stutter in 50Hz, e.g. GT5P since Spec III in TT modes, GTI Club, Soul Calibur, maybe Virtua Fighter 5.

It's a shame Sony's tests allow such behaviar. At least they should allow a 60Hz Option for SD users like it is possible on Xbox,Xbox360,PS2.

Your only way out is using 720p or above which are always output at 60Hz. Or maybe running the game in SD on a NTSC PS3.

Hmm, so this means that if i play gt5 on my Full HD LCD using the HDMI cable, this prob wont occur? Coz at the moment, im playing it on a CRT set using composite cables (480i i guess).

Will give this a shot today and let yo'l know.

But i really hope Sony does something about this in Spec IV, since Spec II used to work perfectly with this setup.

you say spec IV, as if its coming :P

They better be coming out with something to set this right..... coz its of no use having such realistic graphics n all, when the gameplay itself isn't smooth.

Yes, the problem should only occur if using a PAL game on PAL PS3 set to SD resolution (576i/p).

No problems with me, whats this talk about spec IV coming out?

He was just referring to a fix. There is no such thing as spec IV! Although the spanish site Console Tribe says there will be damage in Prologue, but only in offline mode. Read more here!

I don't know if I believe that though.

Ok guys, i tried it out on my LCD with HDMI and it works fine!!!

So this prob is only limited to Pal PS3s running in non HD mode.

Never had that problem, but the problem I do have (and have had since before i upgraded to spec III) is the frame rate slows down when theres alot of traffic on the track. But that clears up after the cars spread out. i mean its not dramatic style but yeah.

I'm no expert but I imagine Polyphony know about this and will most likely fix these issues for the full version.
