(not so) famous last words...

I think I'm nearing completion now but,...I think it is fair to assume that the used car cycle is on a two year rotation based upon how far in I have progressed and how many cars haven't shown up yet.

Eating them as I type. :ouch:

Okay, for anyone interested or following this, the 'cycle' isn't based upon a two year calendar. I have progressed some way beyond and as yet there is still no repetition. More importantly, I still haven't obtained the data for every car available in the standard format.

I am still awaiting the appearance of about 17 cars (yes, I really have seen over 1,000 different cars  ) and I'm becoming more convinced that every standard car will appear at some point in the used car lot.

I can go game-weeks without seeing a new model to add to my list and that suggests three or even four years might not be out of the question.

I'm well behind Fastas at 60 days completed and I don't have any matches yet with your list. I'm not sure if the region of the disk will matter with the cycle or if I'm just no where near far enough in to catch part of your list.

I just took a look at your list and I can't see any links either. It may be due to the regions or, it may be a different part of the cycle.

You do appear to have at least one car that I haven't come across yet so, either way, it is a valuable exercise. 👍

Famine - The cars I'm getting are inconsistent with your list. The first six cars in my used dealer are; Lupo1.4 '02, Accord Coupe EX '03, Spirra 4.6 V8 '04, 110S (L10A) '67, Skyline GT-R (R33) '97 & Minica Dangan ZZ '89. (left to right, top to bottom)

So theoretically, when I find Lupo1.4 '02 (day 31) on your list, there should be the same cars in order, but could be offset by a few cars. But when I found the lupo1.4 '02 on your list, there are no similarities what so ever. The cars I have ordered after the Lupo aren't even within the next or previous 5 days.

So I think its more random. Maybe the version of the disc release has something to do with it. I'm US region, but just bought the game a couple days ago. I'll check the version later.

Or it could be that the Lupo appears more than once - which it does.

Trust me - it's not random.

Ek im on day 541 Lol. Still haven't seen the FGT, Although i check every 4 races. :(

Are you just cycling through or are you recording data as well? and,...what are you referring to as a 'FGT'?

cannot open file, it says corrupted, I am using open office

can you tell me when the formula GT will show up in my lot? I've been checking every races for 3 days with no luck. Also did a lot of cycling through lisence test thing, still no show.

okay, put it simple, if it's a like a cycle, what are the days between formula GT would show up again? I saw it once when I was level 20 or something, that was last week. I can guess how long it takes for it to show up again. Because at the moment, it seems pretty desperate for me, as I've seen other lvl 23 cars repeating, just not the damn formula GT!

I'm going to start tracking this and see if I can help. I'm already over 400 days I think, but it might give us some clues at least.

I bet Kaz is reading this (with help from Translator San) and laughing at us trying to reverse engineer his code.

edit: Anyone know of the quickest way to compare my file to everyone elses? Is there a formula I can use in Excel to look for a pattern?

How is everyone else doing it? I've got 3 cycles so far, and I don't see it in Famine's, but it's gonna be a pain looking for my set in everyone elses as well.

I don't personally have any clever formulas (yet) to compare lists but I have just been picking a car (usually one that appears less often) near the end (or beginning) of my list and searching everyone else's lists for that car and comparing the cars that appear around it.

One issue is I'm not sure we are all using the same ordering for the cars from the lot. Some are starting at the top of the list and going left to right down three rows for the order of cars each day. Others aren't keeping track of the order that the cars appear in the lot just what days they show up.

I've thought about methods of doing a string search in a VBA macro for a certain number of cars to appear in a row but that would have to assume everyone using the same ordering system.

I'm going left to right and then down a row and left to right again.

I just copied Famine's method but then removed all the stuff I didn't feel like writing down. I'm just doing make, model and year to make it faster for me.

I just saw a Panoz, which I assume is pretty rare, so I'll search the other lists for that and use it to compare.

edit: I found my Panzo in Fasta's Database. My day 370 is his day 379 shifted by one car. So the cars I have for day 370 show up in his day 379 plus one car shows up in his day 378. The car that he has for his 379 that I don't have for 370 shows up in my 371.

I think I got that all written correctly. So this basically shows that my list is 9 days and a car off from his. This shows that the region isn't important apparently, since we're in different regions but have similar (albeit shifted) lists.

Since mine and Fasta's are just shifted there's no reason for me to continue, since he has data well behind and well in front of me. Unless someone can think of a reason.

That's the first solid confirmation that the regions appear to have the same cycles. The one thing that I can't get from Fasta's database is the exact order that the cars are appearing in so that I could write a macro that if someone inputs the first four cars in their used car lot and their current day then a custom list would be generated for them to match exactly their game.

It would me much easier if all of the hextet's among all games were the same but that is clearly not the case.

What I'm toying with right now is what would be the most logical numbering system to use for the overall car listings (as demonstrated in the attachment).

Opinions? Or possibly a completely different system?

Or it could be that the Lupo appears more than once - which it does.

Trust me - it's not random.

So the exact car can appear multiple times, possibly just a different color. I guess we'll just have to wait for a complete list to know for sure.

Well, I'm screwed. I just found the Formula GT in Fasta's Database. It will appear for me in about 8 game days. I only have 2.5 million credits right now.

As for your choices, I don't like either one, really. The 2nd one just isn't logical, and the 1st one every hextet appears "upside down", which isn't really ideal either.

The fact that they used a stack where new is added to the top and old drops off the bottom, and then added to the confusion with two columns, makes it rather difficult to count in a way that makes sense.

I think I have a better way though. I've attached a PDF with it. The first number is the day, second number is the # within that day.

It's more intuitive for writing, but less intuitive for a computer to shift and run formulas on. Not sure if we could get around that somehow.

Game is broken, its random. I have seen the same cars like 3 times. I've seen the Subaru 360 58' at least 4 times, And I check the used dealership after every race. So don't try and tell me its a pattern. It's all random.

While I'm no statistician the odds are against your claim. There are at least 3 (and that number is growing) people who have found parts of their lists that when aligned generate the same lists as another user.

Edit...Pedal I should have been clearer in my pdf. My spreadsheet has a column with each day and each hextet has that same day listed. What I'm looking for is a master list that is more for coding purposes that could be used to generate an appropriate list for a user. While I don't think it is feasible at this point to try and generate the two column mess that PD has given us I hope to at least make a spreadsheet that can be used to predict the future cars in the lot.

As I got to thinking about it to be honest in the end it won't matter what order I have them in the spreadsheet as the main concern will be when each hextet is going to appear and not necessarily that we all use the same numbering scheme for each hextet.

Whew that was longer winded than I intended :guilty:

Have we confirmed that each game has the same update system all the way through, my friends tell me we are seeing different cars at different days, but I am just starting to make my own tracking system as well to confirm with yours. Good luck, I will focus on this more once I finally level up to 40, at least in A-spec.... I am at level 27 now..

Hanako: As below, though be aware that no-one has yet confirmed the same day 1 as anyone else (one person was very close to mine, but with a two-car translocation - every subsequent day was identical with a two-car translocation).

Game is broken, its random. I have seen the same cars like 3 times. I've seen the Subaru 360 58' at least 4 times, And I check the used dealership after every race. So don't try and tell me its a pattern. It's all random.

It is a pattern - a preset pattern.

If I restart a gamesave, my day 1 list is identical. If I skip any number of days I will see the same list on that gamesave on that day as any other gamesave on that day on my machine - and any other machine with the same day 1 list.

I've seen more Hyundai Tiburons than I care to remember (and Tuscanis and Coupes too - same car, different names). They always appear in the same slot on the same day with the same mileage in the same colour at the same price.

It's not random. We have enough data between us now that you can give us any six consecutive cars (three rows x two columns) and we can tell you the next day's six cars. If it's sufficiently early in our cycles, we can probably give you the next hundred days' six cars too.

So, has anyone CONFIRMED seeing a "used" car in more than one color in their UCL?

Here's a thought... Maybe the colors you see are locked to each "rotation" and once you complete a rotation and begin a second, the colors will be different.

Obviously, I have no basis for that, but it would be interesting. :dopey:

That'd be nice, but everyone's seeing the same colours so far. One or two cars seem to be exceptions to the rule though - not that I've encountered one yet.

Using WinZIP I can't open the file attached to Famine's first post, I get a windows message saying:

Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive. If you downloaded this file, try downloading the file again.

I've never had a single problem downloading one of Famine's zips.

Try downloading it with a different browser. I use Safari.

Does anyone know how many days there are? Like I'm on 640, does it go up to only 365 like in real days? That means I should subtract 640 and 365 to get the game day right?

Thanks.
