That's pretty cool. It's weird you posted this because just today I was thinking how long it would be until someone posted a comparison video of GT5 VS Real life on the Ring. That photomode pic is wow.
 
Why does it cut off right before the straight?

For the fist half the cars were about even but the second half the GT5 car gained speed. I would expect that for a video game, but considering it only looked like a few seconds, I would say GT5 is pretty damn realistic. Im impressed.
 
Yeah I think it's due to traffic. Actually, the real life car seemed to be in the lead for awhile until he had to dodge some cars. Then the GT5 one took the lead. I'd say all in all, very impressive and true to real life!
 
Thanks for the find! I was comparing the game to the ring earlier, I was there last year and made a video. GT5 does a great job of replicating the Nordschleife, however, I couldn't help but wonder; where the hell did all the graffiti go?! :odd:

In an effort to give you the most utopian GT-Life possible, all graffiti which may be deemed offensive has been removed. :)
 
I was impressed by the accuracy of the track this time. It was pretty damned good in GT4 to begin with, but driving it in GT5 gave me goose bumps!

It's time to start saving for another trip to the 'ring, did it 8 years ago in a rental Audi TT. No games had the track back then so it was a bit scary not really knowing the track. Looks like the video poster rents M3's, that would be the way to go!

Since you're not only Canadian, but from here, how much did it run you, and how long did you stay?

To me, one of the defining characteristics of the Nordschleife as I raced around it was the graffiti. In my opinion it just looks too clinical without the graffiti.

It's a shame that they went to such lengths to model everything so beautifully but kept the graffiti out because they were concerned some people may get offended.
 
Earlier builds of the Ring showed a lot more graffiti, so it was programmed in, they just took it out for the final game. :/
 
Bloody hell the colour in GT games is saturated to the extreme.

Been meaning to turn the colour on my monitor right down for GT. Going to do it right now after watching that. Yiiish.
 
To bad that the M3 (my favourite car) in GT5 sounds nothing like the real M3.
In GT5 the car sounds like it is on steroids. Way to high-pitched.

It is a shame that they had to do it but the games age rating probably would be different if they left it in. That would limit Sony's target audience.

In my opinion they should have replaced it with some PD humor and racing facts and make their own graffiti. They had 5 years to think of great things to write lol.

If you watch the real video he gets held up 2x by traffic, one the guy moves over pretty quick, but the 2nd guy lingers on the passing side of the road. That was enough to throw off his pace with the gt5 video quite a bit.

And it cut off because GT sports the old start stop exit, but now days the new exit is down on the main straight, so he was probably pull in on the straight after his assigned taxi lap, rather than have to go all the way around the track again.

PS: did he say anything how the real M3 handles vs GT5?

Well check out the official utube video page people have asked him how the car feels and he said GT5 is very close but of course your lacking the all the input you get in a real car. Coming from a guy that drives BMWs on the ring for a living and has no horse in the race so to speak that is a pretty high endorsement if you ask me.

From the driver, it would be interesting to know:
• Tyres - comparable set?
• Transmission - Auto on both?
• TC - on or off & same in both?

To be pushing the actual car at some points faster than GT5 is credit to the driver. There is no "re-start" in real life. Great drive, sir!

• Tyres are standard in the real M3. In GT5 they were standard too. Dunno if GT5's standard tyres are the same for the real life's M3.
• The real M3 had a DCT. In GT5 the M3 has Manual.
• TC and DSC are off on the both.
