McLaren MP4-23 '08

2007 saw some intresting rule changes that made the seemingly much closer than they seemed to be during the past seasons. Despite that though, McLaren almost became a past name. Following the infamous 2007 Formula One espionage controversy, McLaren were fined 100 million US dollars, and docked all of their championship points.
Despite the black cloud that reigned over them, they coped with the situation relatively calmly, and made even more improvements to the already awe-inspiring MP4-22, which nearly made Lewis Hamilton a champion on his very first season/Fernando Alonso complete the 3 in a row achievement in F1 long before Sebastian Vettel did so. Revisions from the MP4-22 include a longer wheel-base, the removal of the "bullhorns" from the airbox and a new rear wing which differs both in main profile and its endplates.
Following Fernando's frankly furious fallout with McLaren, Lewis Hamilton was joined by ex-GP2 driver Heikki Kovalinen for the 2008 season, in cars 22 and 23. In an earth-shatteringly close season, where Lewis won 2 of the races EVERYONE wants to win (Monaco and the home turf, which would be Silverstone for the Brits), Lewis passed Timo Glock on the last corner of the last lap at Interlagos to steal Felipe Massa's title hopes by just one point.
