GT6 copies will leave Japan on December 2nd!

Like a lot of others, I have a terrible time believing this...

Usually copies of the game aren't produced that far from the market they are to be sold, and also usually each market uses different cover info (ratings and other small text symbols), so it's also more practical to do them in different places (in the same place they would need to do several batches, what takes a lot more time then a continued printing line), same goes for the Blue-ray, since I'm unsure if there's a universal copy of the game for all the world (mainly because of the multiple language support, not sure if the US version gets all the languages supported by the EU version, nor if both get Japanese language support).

Look I wrote what I saw on the paper today. It was some sort of calendar to be precise. It said "export GT6, Tokyo" on December 2nd and "import GT6, Bratislava" on December 4th.

I know games for Europe are usually printed in Austria but this is what I saw and I just wanted to share this with you guys as Ive never lied about anything I believe.

Could it simply be that some countries are getting it later than others? I'm not sure if GT6 was supposed to have a worldwide release date. Worldwide release date... is that what it's called? Damn it, I'm sleep deprived.

In Japan it is 5th December and WW (others) 6th December. So, it is really weird and I'm "little" worried that reviews for this will be about a week AFTER launch, what is pretty bad - and the same like it was in GT5 case.

And even if they would do that, bringing the copies for everywhere in the world probably would be more expensive then the making of the game itself... since it would require a few dozens if not 100+ airplanes to do the deliveries... really unlikely..

From what I know, PS3 Blu-rays aren't region locked. Certain downloaded content will be, but not the game itself.

Really odd, but by the sound of it, it seams like there may have been some problem on the Austrian factories (overload with to many games to print and/or not enough time to print enough copies for Europe), and they decided to backup the European copies stock with a smaller batch printed in Japan (that possibly doesn't have a load as heavy as other printing factories).

This would explain why this kind of action so close to the release date, since shipping all copies of the game by air would be crazy expensive, and by the destination, I believe that's somewhere close to the main distribution center, because sending the games from there to all Europe would be impossible in just 2 days (by truck or plane), so those copies would be mainly for the countries around.

I talked to Tomas Svec from www.estelacnejsie.sk and he said they are getting GT6 promo version for a review, a week before release so lets see about that...

Anyway where is amar212 when we need him? :P Maybe he knows something more then I do :D

Region lock =/= universal, region lock means any PS3 can read it, universal means that all the content is the same.

Take Final Fantasy XIII (or any other Japanese game), all PS3 can read the game, but the game sold in Europe doesn't have Japanese language option (text or voice), but the Japanese version have those, but not English voice (not sure about the text, but probably it also doesn't have English text).

This makes printing those Blu-ray 2 complete differed batches and printing lines.

I'm a turn up at my local with my docket that's pre paid on Dec 6 opening time and all I gotta say is it better F*&*in be there or I'm a have to get out my wall that says "bad motherf&^%er"........:P

if i remember, the screenshot from jordan at willows spring preview showed that the version he tried was v1.0... so the v1.0 isn't supposed to be the release version ? if it is, they already can start the production...

Pretty sure all the content is essentially the same. What reason would there have to be to change anything for a specific region (sans Language)?

It isnt. Many games are not v 1.00 by the time of release, for example GTAV was 1.03 when was finally released, according to the file param.sfo in GTAV root directory on BD.

v1.00 basically means the first playable version with all content available (final version)

True, but even by just changing the language, the info in the disc will be different, so it would require 2 printing lines.

It's not like printing the same content (even language) in all discs and them getting a way for the game to detect the language it should be and display that one.

Note: GT5P and GT5, as well as some other games from Sony in house studios change the language to the PS3 language, so it may be that all the languages are in the disc, but I'm unsure for Japanese in the discs sold in Europe.

That's the main reason why I keep my systems in English rather then Portuguese, because I grew up playing games in English and now I just find it odd to play games on other languages (be it text or voice), and in the case of GT, I feel like some stuff doesn't translate well, specially the abbreviation that also get translated, making a headache when replication setups I read here, or posting setups and the like..

OK! Today, we had a visit from SONY in my store and the guy from SONY showed me this schedule where was stated that GT6 copies will leave Japan on December 2nd, which is really really late and tight. He also said that this is gonna happen for the first time in his career and GT6 will almost certainly not make it in time to everyone which is incredibly sad. Again. Just like GT5.

He also said (believe it or not) that GT6 is still in development and will leave PD studios just on November 20th.

This means we are about to be either victims of the fastest shipped game in the gaming industry or disappointed with a slight delay.
Here is how this works (if not mentioned earlier)

The gold master(s) will leave around that time, that's the from japan part. Someone will drive the disk to the airport shipping facility, a warehouse right on the runway... Where it will be sent to all the shipping warehouses.

Waiting for the disk is all the preprinted "box and docks" waiting for freshly printed disks (still warm)... If we knew where the disks were being printed I could be more accurate.

Before the end of the following day, all stores on the east coast will get the game in their afternoon shipments, west coast the very next morning. All main warehousing is in the easy and the trucks will be waiting with the engines running...

It's very fast if Sony is paying for that kind of expedite and demand is high enough. If demand is lower its only an additional 24 hours... But it's ridiculously expensive, but breaking street dates so soon lead to penalties by retail so sometimes it's the lessor of 2 evils.

I've done this a few times with my game launches but it was over ten years ago... So it could be even faster now....

Those of you that order next day shipping with actually get it ahead of time as it ships straight from the distributer and isn't being hauled in bulk...

It will be out on the 6th. It is too close to the deadline now for it to be any different. There would have to be a complete disaster for it to be delayed now. The fact that these things can be patched these days makes it even more likely.

thanks for the clarification

I double checked the time frames for the last GT5 delay. It was officially delayed by Kaz on October 16th, pushing from the 5th of Nov to the 25th. If we were to see a repeat of this for GT6 the delay would come this week. I think once we are sitting inside 2 weeks from release we are safe...

I would imagine that If it's "leaving Japan" on the 2nd of December. That just means the final disc image is released from the studio. It then gets sent digitally to all the factories over the world who encode the discs and put them into the already prepared boxes.

It's probably only the Master they are talking about.

I used to work for Cinram as a print operator - we manufactured game and movie discs by the millions sometimes way before the movie came to cinemas or the song went public - there was high security, but we got to watch the movies and listen to the sound tracks while we worked - someone would throw something up on the giant screen on the factory floor.

Point being that there is no need to ship discs - they only send out the 'final' and the hardware that holds the software is made sometimes a block away from where one buys it. If there is a delay it may not be manufacture or delivery constraints, but the vetting of the final product itself before it is fed into the machines that churn out the polycarbonate that we want to lay our grubby paws on.

There's a sony blue ray printing plant down in mexico, my uncle works for one. They print PS3 games and movies for most of north america.
