Hi there,
My 4 months old PS3 super slim stopped reading dual layer Blu Rays !!! including GT6 and am at 98% game progress, my question is if it possible to use the same game save if i purchase a digital GT6 download ? ..
Am not planning to pay for a new laser that will not last for weeks! (thanks SONY), btw am not a bad user at all and theres no dust in here, and bad for me the warranty will not cover laser replacement.

Thanks all.

Yes it think it will work, but it must be signed with your account.
So you will keep your progress if you buy the game from ps store...
So you will continue where you left

^ Yep, just did this recently and it works fine as long as you're logged into the same PSN account.

Thanks, ill try it... looks u had the same problem

Not quite, I have triple monitors so I downloaded two copies of the digital game to my other pS3's. And when the glitch was in play I had one machine I kept at v1.00 and if just move my thumb drive over to it if I wanted to go shopping. :sly:

It should work as long as from same region. If not, you would need software (like bruteforce save data) to rehash/resign the save files.

FYI, a new lens will last months -the previous one did after all lol- and cost $15-20, more than a digital GT6 download. Plus you'll still have a bluray player... be advised you'll have to open up your ps3, and this would void any remaining warranty.
Speaking of which, it should definitely cover lens replacement, unless you told them you're a smoker?

Yes, this will work with no problems. I did this soon after I bought the disc version on release day. My 4 month old Super Slim was having trouble reading dual layer Blu-rays, which GT6 is, so I just went and bought the digital version to quickly solve the problem. I haven't had any problems since and my save works perfectly with the digital version. There is no reason that this should not work, its just like buying a replacement disc.

But isn't it so fragile (PS3) ?!. Am still having a working PS1 that reads disks like it should be!.. sry for complaining but its a SONY product after all. i hope PS4 is better durability wise.
Thanks.

It still reads regular Blu-rays just fine, its the Dual Layer Blu-rays that it has problems with. I know about 10 other people that have the same exact problem with their PS3's......not reading Dual Layer but otherwise working just fine.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but I am now in this same scenario where I can not play GT6. Every time I finish a race it will not finish and the only way to stop it is to reset ps3. Run the to boot restore/rebuild db, deleted and reinstalled game several times and tried several updating methods with same issue every time. When races start the gauges will be black and then load fully in a few minutes, after that when you hit pause it freezes and no options shown. If you boot up the game and let it starting showing the demos the only other thing you can do I reset the ps3 or eject the cd. Every time this happens you can clearly here the dvd trying to access something. Like other user above stated I have cleaned everything out as it really a lot cleaner than I expected. The reader works fine for dvd's and blue ray movies but don't think any are DL. GT6 will not work correctly but my GT5 disc works without any issues at all and I thinks its a DL BR also.

My question is since I bought the GT6 15th Anniv CD can I still use the DLC after I buy and install the digital version of the game with my current saves?

I think yes, you can find and re-install any DLC from PSN account management - Transaction management - Download list.

I have the exact same problem. New ss ps3,and gt6 freezes even when i go to change car in online mode. The track also dissapears on Nurb nordscleife, driving in the landscape without road and trees, just hills, and cars driving i mid air..
Seems like the disc stops spinning. Also got the message that system memory is destoyed try to repair.
Addict to gt series, is download the game to disc the only solution?

Please help, and you will get a god hug :)

Ok here is an update on my issues with GT-6 in my original post and I can now say that they have all been resolved now. What I did was purchase the game from psn and then install it and all the updates which took about 5-6hrs to completed. This was done WITHOUT deleting any of the already installed data and updates and just as soon as all of the updates were finished I had all of the 15th Anniversary stuff showing up and working. Now if I had just done this first before going thru 3 rounds of deleting everything and then re-installing it and all the updates I would not have lost all my replays and pictures. I did back all of them up and transferred the replays from the game to XMB and backed up all of my game saves and logins. It cost me another $40 for a game I already paid for once but I think it was worth it again to be able to play again. I hope this helps out others as I know I was frustrated after not being able to play much since the 1.13 update was released.
