No commentary.

A spotter would be nice, however.

I don't think so, unless you could toggle it on/off during the race. I just can't imagine going in the the first turn of Deep Forest with a field of 15 others.

"Inside!"
"Outside!"
"Inside!"
"Outside!"
"Inside!"
"Outside!"
"Inside!"
"Outside!"

Oh, wait - I hope I don't get reported too.

"Spotters" are am American thing mostly limited to ovals anyway AFAIK, it wouldn't make any sense in races in the rest of the world. A race engineer that gives you general info sure but they don't give out the info spotters do.

Maybe something less specific or even grounded in real racing series (which one do you choose?) and instead something simply useful for the gameplay? Maybe in place of potentially distracting on-screen info e.g. pop-ups?

I'd say no.

Reason - NASCAR school on GT5.

"Remember, the car is heavy" & "Don't hit the cones" to name a couple of quotes.

I still have nightmares:ill:

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the title of this thread.

When I started those Nascar events I was indifferent to Jeff Gordon, by the halfway point I was having serious anger management issues.

So no I don't ever want to have any kind of comentary EVER again.

If it were well made with little repetition, and was only an option in replay mode would be cool, and wouldn't be a problem for those who don't want/like it.

With Large Theatre mode you initially (it's now patched) couldn't hear Jeff over the sound of the car, so I never had the joy of his direction. :P
Trouble is, you couldn't hear the co-driver in the rally mode, either...

While Racing is not a good Idea, but maybe some pre-race commentaries about weather conditions and during post-race replay would be fine, but generate this kind of comments in real time during a race is very complex, would be annoying and distracting and completely Useless

A co-driver giving instructions for rally racing would be nice.

well in that way, I think aso some radio messages ala F1 would work very well, something like "Box box box" to notice to pit in the next lap. specially while playing with the HUD turned off and you don't have any way to see if you can keep in the track with the fuel :D

Commentary during a race is a definite do not want and how do you turn it off. That was one of the alarming things in the Forza trailer. Please no in race commentary. Pro Street drove me up the wall before the second race was over.

This is not something that the game needs nor should it have it and the resources to add it could be much better used in many other areas of the game.

So in short NO

I would rather have Jeremy Clarkson yelling speeeed from beginning to the end of the race, or richard hammond screaming.. or james describing the car in great detail. It would be neat for replays though.

There's nothing that a race engineer's voice would add to the game that a good HUD wouldn't fix.

As far as trackside commentary goes, it is just useless, and the novelty would wear off very quickly. I would rather them getting crowd noise right.

A co-driver giving instructions for rally racing would be nice.

You mean a better co-driver?

There was no point in the GT5 co-driver telling me what corner was next when I was already in the corner.

The use of gibberish (not recognisably; simply incomprehensible commentate-y voice sounds), and a sort of excitement scale according to what's going on on-track (that the spectators also respond to) would be easy to get non repetitive with syllable-scale "phrase" synthesis. Not sure how interesting or convincing that would be, though.

This would be great

I don't think it's the type of thing that can easily be programmed without being intensely repetitive. I'd rather they focus on other parts of the game than spending resources on something as minor as this.

From what I remember of iRacing they had a fairly useful spotter on the road course racing side, though "spotter" might not be the correct term as I think you're right in it being mostly an oval thing. Basically it would say things like:

"Slow car up ahead", when someone spun out a certain distance up the road.
"Car on your left / right", when you were passing someone or they you.

and such, I didn't do much oval racing but on the road courses I did find it quite useful. Race 07 (and pCars I think) has something similar too that tells you when there are yellow flags in the section you're going through so you know to slow down, what kind of damage you've just received (usually it's suspension damage, but also tire, splitter and stuff too). I guess it would count as Team communications or something similar?

Could you show me a pic of that co-driver? I've never seen one.

I must've badly missed this.

Oh great!

BUT LOOK AT 4:00!!! WHAT IS THAT? IT'S NEARLY FASTER THAN LIGHT! IT MUST BE AN UFO!

Anyhow, I did that special event stuff 2.5 years ago. No wonder I can't remember. It simply wasn't remarkable enough.

I completely messed this up, my bad.

Here is a pic too:

I would love to be able to livestream b spec races and commentate over it. It would make b spec a little more fun. I mean as part of the actual in game function like CoD Black Ops 2 does

Hi, I dont know exactly where to post this, so... If I'm wrong, please tell me. I just wanna know if someone knows something about whether will be in GT6 flags penalizations, or for example we will be able to know the distance between us and the behind driver.. things like that..

Or.. Will it be exactly the same as GT5? Its going to be improved? Cheers, and sorry if I have spelled something wrong, Im spanish and I don't have this languaje under full control, :)

Cheers, and thanks!

Half the races in GT (and by half I mean 85%) aren't real series.

A spotter makes perfect sense. We don't have to race in a series modeled 100% after real life. It would be nice if GT allowed you to consider things such as this when creating events, like size of a team (driver only, driver + pit crew, etc), how championship points are calculated, etc.
