No news in weeks! No updates! And no more Vision Gran Turismo cars!!!
What do you think? Is This game completely abandoned? What a shame! There´re a lot of incomplete stuff...

What do you think? Is This game completely abandoned?

Not completely, no. Seasonals still exist.

And if one were to ask the question - is it completely abandoned by players, too - no. From the activity around the forums I would think the game is still alive for many.

Otherwise, I have to agree with Ameer . . . PD has gone silent . . . running deep.
Which makes us feel kind of locked out, eh?

Welcome back.

What @photonrider said, basically. Seasonals are still updated on a fortnightly basis (so I hear – I don't do them). And like just about any game that still has active online servers, you will find people playing in that arena.

Other than that though, there hasn't been an update to the game in half a year. If it helps any, it's still been less time between GT6 and GT Sport than we had to endure waiting between GT4 and GT5P.

Oh yeah, and strictly speaking, the Hyundai VGT is complete. It's just not in GT6.

It's not dead, it's just that GT Sport is around the corner. They stopped adding content to GT5 about 14 months before GT6 was released, presumably to get a longer list of new cars and tracks to present for the new game. It's probably the same deal this time around.

As @photonrider already said:no longer being updated is not the same as dead. As long as it has a community behind it that keeps playing it, it's not dead. Once people stop playing it, then it's dead. Many people still play games online that were developed more than a decade ago, where in some cases the studios that developed it even no longer exist. Those haven't received updates in several years, but they are very much alive.

Because there is a difference between 'dying' and 'dead' - especially when asked shortly after the GT6 Forums was bumped down.
I trust the admins know a lot more than we do - as well as the staffer who was in here to comment, too, and neither merged nor closed the thread.

In terms of updates yes with regard to added VGT cars or lack of.
However GT6 is not dead yet with the continuation of regular Seasonals which in itself keeps the game alive and interesting. Lots of racers are actively involved as evidenced on the forum. Most of us are waiting for the next release of GT though. Then we'll make the switch as a natural progression.

Depends how you define "dead"...

Online or Offline?

Offline play has been the same for a while now with no updates, as you know.

Online is still alive but not quite as before, but the community is all that matters to some people.

If you want more of those VGT car things... don't hold your breath too long.

Once it goes offline its dead.

Perhaps when it's no longer being updated, but this is modern era dead. Games produced before online connections would have been dead right out of the box. Just a thought.

I like this thinking:

In my opinion, games never truly die. You can go back and play them at any time you want. If the community dies down, then that's just the social aspect. But you never have to stop playing the game just because everyone else did.

Once it goes offline its dead.
I agree with you.
Once they kill the servers to GT6 I might have to go back to GT5 for my offline fix, 16 cars on track, proper endurance races, fuel & tyre wear.
Or I might just fire up Grid Autosport again, The AI was pretty good fun on that, so was online for that matter.
They're my only 2 options as I was going to buy a PS4 for GTS but seeing as the PS4 is going to be replaced already by the 4k/Neo then I might aswell wait for that instead.

QMs is still pretty popular. Always get a pretty fun race which is a good 30-45 mins to hr diversion.

Too much makes you go blind and punch the disabled.

Just before they can "kill off" GT6 before GT Sport is around they should finally bring the Hyundai and Bugatti Vision cars into the game and make one more major improvement (probably Arcade/Free Play and the closing of servers) so that we can comfortably wait for future GT games, considering that the game is almost useless when online capabilities are gone, considering that the Arcade/Free Play mode has been dumbed down to a stupid level where you can't drive all 1200+ cars (actual number: 1009 cars with the Hyundai and Bugatti Vision cars) and you can't use B-spec there.

I think you should keep your stints in QM very, very short, because some of us disabled people don't take to kindly to be punched. Just a thought.

Another thought:

GT6 died when the GTPlanet hype train finally stopped, and the chronic bashing/critiquing/analyzing every PD move arrived into the GTS forums. The CM release seemed to be the turning point.

I'm also pretty sure that the remainder of Vision GT participants just left their projects unfinished. Like, Lamborghini (one of the participants) isn't even trying anymore. Bugatti and Hyundai introduced their Vision GT prototypes over 6 months ago yet they still haven't been added to the game.

There's also a glitch that's been around since November that makes your car completely frictionless and can be used for cheating online, and it still hasn't been patched.

Yeah, in terms of updates, patches, and all, Gran Turismo 6 is dying.

True, but those old online games that still have people playing them didn't have the servers turned off--or at least have some way to connect to each other--as they were with GT5 and, I'm sure, will happen with GT6. Because of that, if I wanted to play an old GT game, I'd break out the PS2 and play GT3 or 4 as they had an impressive number of single player races available. With GT5 there wasn't all that much to do offline; well, I never did the very long single sitting no saving endurance races, because that was just silly.

So, is GT6 dead if the servers are still going but PD has apparently moved on?

New seasonal have just came out and will continue to come out so GT6 is far from dead. I could care less about Vision cars no longer being added and I'm sure many others feel the same way. I just don't think that should be used as a measuring stick for continued support. Also there are regular updated online races as well. Between the seasonals and regularly updated online raced they provide at least 1/2 the content of other racing games. And we not going to even talk about the online community. GT Sport comes out November 16th, but you best believe GT6 will still get seasonal and online updates until the next mainline entry GT7 is released a few years from now.

Will the single player portion of GT6 die when they turn the multiplayer servers off?

Watching the GT Sport trailer and videos has rekindled my lust for setting up a triple screen GT6 setup and finally buying a proper three pedal wheel with gear shifter (the G29 is super cheap in Currys/PC World right now)

They can't reach into your game and steal the singleplayer, Methinks you'll be fine.;)

The G29 is a great wheel. Buy it.

Thanks, I just have to,persuade my better half to allow the spend. Not easy when she's just announced we have another addition arriving in just under nine months!

The game will be dead if you don't have the urge to play it anymore. In this case, it will be dead for you.

GT1, 2, 3, 4 didn't had updates, and yet, there is still people playing it.

I play GT6 daily, and i can still see a lot of lobbys to race, cruise, drift. And i can still find combos that i never used and give me a lot of joy. Last week i did a yellow bird to race on the snow:

And yes, it was was very enjoyable. :)
