Guess that's what I get for spending 2 minutes a week in this section.

Edit: Your post below that is confusing though, we're talking about the Z here not the G37/Skyline which is a different car. :)

That was my best guess when the covered car image first appeared. I went for the 86 pretty quickly too, but some of the shapes the cover drapes seem more in keeping with Infiniti's swoopier current design language. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if it's something on the FM platform, at any rate :P

The sheet cover may not be exact. The Ferrari F12 is a close fit as well, plus that front bumper jutting out looks a lot like it. Could be anything.

The back has a very BMW Z4-esque shape to it to that was my first thought. Could be anything, but I do hope it is a new Z concept.

There was a video posted several pages back Wotan Jay Leno visiting NISSAN, they were working on design concepts for the next Z. A retro 270 if I'm not mistaken?

A modern version of the fairlady in a new interpretation of the style of the old 1st gen 240Z. Where did you read that it will be a 270? Or did you accidentaly write 270 instead of 240?

Or are you possibly talking about the 270X? Guess not.

I thought Nissan said that the new Z will debut in 2014 Detroit Motor Show, that doesnt make sense if suddenly they just reveal the car today. I think i'll stick with the Supra guess, since it looks like an 86 but a little bigger but hey who knows lol

That's the "if I'm not mistaken?" part. Indicating, I'm not exactly sure of the fine details, but I know a little bit about it. Know what I mean?

So you think it's going to be a 270Z based on the design of the old 240Z.

Just wanted to be sure, because a Datsun 270Z or Nissan Fairlady 270Z doesn't exist yet. Only the 270X, but that's a FWD concept car.

The three American Pony Cars have gone retro, so why not make a new version of the 270Z. I'm not guessing that's what's under the cover. But we will find out for sure tomorrow. Does the 270X look like an econo-box, like most front wheel drive cars? I'm surprised they are going FWD as a concept car. They obviously aren't going to compete with the Toyota GT-86 platform with it.

Theres yet to be a concept shown for a new Z car or sub Z car from Nissan. The Jay Leno images were just drawings. It would have to be a brand new Nissan Concept car if its by them.

He didn't say anything about the next Z being front-wheel drive. The 270X was a 1970 concept car.

I forgot that the 15th Anniversary Silverstone event was being held today! Can't wait.

My predictions? If anything of GT6 is revealed, it will be on PS3, more open wheel racers will be included along with Silverstone as a circuit. 2013 release as well if we're lucky?

Check this out an interesting read, from one if the GTP admins.
Many of you know by now that I share this view on the Standards, both cars and tracks. I would be quite unhappy with GT5 if all it had was Premium content, and stuff like the M3 GTR, Lamborghini Countach and the Trial Mountain track weren't there. For months, I've been racing Standard cars almost exclusively and saving replays for when I have time to burn for Photo Mode shoots. Telling us we shouldn't have these cars or tracks in GT5 is just picking a huge needless fight.

Having said that, I do think PD need to stick with Premium content in GT6, and add as much detail to the tracks as possible like they do the cars. Too many fans and journalists would have a hissy over Standards again, and we don't need a round two of that dumb fight. And GT5 is really good enough in the physics and graphics department that if we want to race our Standard cars, just fire it up.

So, about that E3 post...

E3 and GT6

The GT6 Engine will have been heavily reworked to allow for more features. Resolution will be reduced to 720p but will have a much more refined image, and run at a steady 60fps under most conditions. There will be a separate 3D version as an optional install, and will run at 30fps. Shaders will be improved, as will night lighting. Paint will have more realistic effects, such as metallic and pearl finishes. The Garage and Dealerships will have replay-like post processing to make them look very realistic.

License Tests will return as the sole gateway to the various race levels.

There will be a number of options for determining the difficulty of racing:

[*]Bot skill
[*]Various assists, and level of assists
[*]Damage level
[*]Weather effects
[*]Controller response, from easy to simulation
[*]Car handling, from arcade to simulation
[*]Road feel, from smooth to simulation
[*]Rewards will be greater with increased difficulty
Physics, graphics, sound, bot A.I. will all be improved.

Weather and time of day will be available for all tracks, with more refined effects. Some races will take place in weather, at night, and both.

Tons of tracks will be included:

[*]Legacy tracks from past games brought to Premium level
[*]New locations, both real world and fantasy
Tracks will be suitable for league-themed race events and series. Many racing leagues will be licensed, along with generic GT Leagues. Rally will feature both time attack and rallycross racing against opponents. Numerous Manufacturer Cup races for most cars will return, as well as challenges offering a number of rewards. Some races will offer qualifying, and there will be some races with enforced league rules.

The same with cars, as hundreds of legacy cars are included in Premium quality, as well as new vehicles.

There will be a Paint Shop:

[*]Normal colors
[*]Metalflake and pearl finishes with improved reflective qualities
[*]Exotic colors
There will be a few exotic easter egg colors once again as paint chips. A color creator tool will let you make any color imaginable other than certain exotic finishes. There will be a fee, and exotic paints will cost more.

The Livery Editor will be about as powerful as the one in Forza:

[*]Pattern shapes
[*]Text and number fonts
[*]Decals
[*]League based and generic number plaques
[*]Window shade banners, and racer names and car numbers can be placed on windows
[*]Layers, blending, fading and other effects
Rims and mirror housings can be painted separately. A decal maker and number plaque maker tool will be included. Templates will allow anyone to make a good looking livery. It will work hand in hand with the Paint Shop.

Car modification will be in-depth:

[*]Performance parts
[*]Engine modification and tuning
[*]Aero kits
There will be a series of preset Modifications you can do to your cars. The first is Tuner Mod and will convert your car into a modified vehicle like the Nissan 270R. Second will be a series of Race Mods which will create historic, fantasy and current liveried racers from various racing leagues, and tuned to meet the specifications of those leagues. Cars will have to match the admission rules of specific leagues or will be rejected. A generic GT League mod will be available for all cars. Cars will be homologated, or performance matched to race events for more competitive racing.

Photo Mode will be vastly improved, and there will be a wealth of unique locations available, as well as use in replays.

An Event Maker will be useful for creating events and series for single player as well as online racing. Online tools will include club and league creation, and will offer a full range of rules and limit options. Both single player and online events will include rewards for place finish.

The Course Maker will return, and offer a number of new locations and track types, such as drag strips and point to point races. A number of city locations will be available, and courses will be made by connecting routes, including highways. Rural locations will offer tarmac as well as cross country racing over varying surfaces, as well as snowy locations.

An online User Shop and Auction House will be available to sell cars, decals, liveries and other items.

There won't be enough ram in PS3 to support the wealth of online features PS4 offeres, but some of that will be there. You can go directly to either the PSN Store or @Home from GT6, and will take you to your dorm where your GT6 goodies will be on display. You will still have to quit the game to do so.

The PSN Store will have a number of goodies for GT6, including affordable music packs both of original artists and playlists from past GT games from all regions. If you want the menu music from GT3 to replace or be included in the music of GT6, you'll be able to. Likewise, you can have all the intros and ending credits of all the games from all regions.

There will be a network page linking not just race servers, but news, videos again, and lists of updates and DLC. PSN Plus members will be able to host races, clubs and leagues on SONY servers.

Sim fans will appreciate the physics which are very close to what can be found on their PC racers. The tires and suspension will be well modeled, and that familiar bodyroll will return. Damage will finally make its appearance, and resemble that of a good PC sim. Sounds will be much improved, and bot A.I. will have been worked on as well, making for some more satisfying single player gaming.

Driver views will be adjustable, and edits saved. If you make an adjustment for a car, that edit will be saved to that car.

The will be four modes of play:

[*]Arcade Mode
[*]Gran Turismo Mode
[*]Season Mode
[*]Career Mode
Arcade and GT Mode are familiar already, though I can see that they might merge.

Season Mode will allow you to take a car from a league of your choice and try to win the championship against competing named bots. Races will follow a calendar and you will accrue points based on your finish placement.

Career Mode will give you the chance to live out your dream of starting from scratch in a structure like GT Academy, and try to win a job in a pro racing league. You will face a series of racing seasons, each one with more powerful cars, longer, and more challenging, until finally you are given the coice of a racing league to join, and then race a season for the championship. Seasons can be rerun as many times as you like, and leagues can be changed with a license test.

My Out On A Limb predictions
1100 cars, as legacy cars are brought to near Premium level
110 tracks, again with legacy locations brought to near Premium level
New car makes will include Porsche
GT7 Prologue for PS4 and Vita in December, with many features from the full game

^ So much wish list that it hurts to read it. Anyone hoping for all that is heading for disappointment.

Expect little be pleasantly surprised. Expect a lot, prepare for disappointment.

Thanks for quoting that prediction Dave, interesting reading.

I'm guessing that if Polyphony reveal anything of GT6 today, it will be a very short trailer revealing Silverstone along with a brief glimpse of circuits and cars.

Happy to be wrong if we get a blow out of information, trailers and journalists playing on demo pods though!

Sorry, but there is no 270Z. You can't make a new car based on a car which doesn't exist.

The 270X Concept car (x and not z, 270z doesn't exist):

270Z doesn't exist and never existed, not as Datsun nor as Nissan.

Actually, most of that is anticipated, and a bunch of that is already in GT5, after a fashion.

Wools

The site founder here, Jordan, is going to the announcement and said he for sure was gonna get some game time on something. But what console it would be on is the big question.

That post from Tenacious D made me want to cry lol, but what does that have to do with E3, i don't understand, is that a wish list or a prediciton ?

Lucky to be at Silverstone today doing a few laps. I can say that there was GT pods with GT6 and Silverstone circuit playing.

It seems that the African site about games http://www.el33tonline.com prematurely posted a press release on the announcement of Gran Turismo 6. Later, under the news came a postscript that the editor notified embargo until some time after publication. After a few more minutes on the spot news came the announcement that the information was published ahead of time, and the details of the game will only be available at 21:00 Moscow time.

However, we are talking about the internet, and load "Barbara Streisand effect." Immediately topic was created on NeoGAF, where you copied all the published items, and then received confirmation of the veracity of release from a reliable source - gaming site CVG. However, representatives of the publishing reservation that all the details of the game will be known until the official announcement. It seems that Sony office in South Africa today, someone will fly large:
*

A few minutes ago, at the time of the event dedicated to the 15th anniversary since the release of the original Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi announced the continuation of the racing series developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony. The new part of a realistic driving simulator will be available later this year, exclusively for PS3.
*
GT6 will bring realistic driving simulation to a new level, surprising players incredible new tracks and cars, as well as a redesigned interface. The new engine will speed up the game, and it will provide the flexibility to easily integrate additional content. Shortly after the release will be a special application for smartphones and tablets designed for social functions and working with in-game communities.
*
For almost every car will be available parts, affecting the aerodynamics, as well as several types of tires. Of course, as before, the players will be able to flexibly customize and personalize the car.
*
British Silverstone circuit will be one of the seven new locations, and their total number will reach 33. Total, subject to various conditions, the number of runs will be 71, 19 of which will be the first time in the series. As is the case with cars, new tracks will appear and after the game, and the fans will be able to design a dream trails in revised level editor.

Continue GT Academy, a partnership project by Sony and Nissan, in which the best virtual racers compete in skill in these races. Among other important transactions - the emergence of a GT6 tire manufacturer Yokohama Rubber and suspension from KW Automotive.
*
Announcing the game, Kazunori Yamauchi said: "I can not believe that the first part of the last 15 years. Since then much has changed, and Gran Turismo 6 - the further evolution of my dream of the perfect racing game. We're going to release the game for the PS3, since it is on this platform has a huge community of our fans.
*
However, during development, we have tried to make the game as flexible as possible to be able to expand and complement a long time. I am delighted with the final result, but the launch will be only the beginning of the road for GT6. The project will continue to evolve over the coming years. I already have a lot of ideas that I would like to bring to the next 15 years of the series Gran Turismo! "
