In my defense my back still hurts so I was amazed I was able to do as well as I could yesterday.

I know I won’t be competitive for a long time so it’s daily A only for now where it doesn’t matter so much on your performance. All that matters is how much fun and in VR the W 196 R is lovely.
Hope to see you in a few, man!

Hi guys, I went down to 1:59.8, trying to confirm my ideal of '59.2 at Suzuka. It's my first time there in a daily event. I kinda regrett to not have tried it before, really. I'm loving the 911 around T1 and T2. Still very conservative in 1st, Spoon and last corners entries (not always btw), so those 6 tenths are there to be chipped away by tomorrow evening, hopefully.
Which car are you using?…

Urrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is the worst. Makes me glad I went with new and not used.

And NAXEHT, you're banned for doing a 2.02, come on!
How about a...

Tentatively joined Race A as I am learning to use a wheel for the first time and I am both slow and inconsistent. I am also learning to drive without chase-cam which is VERY tricky in traffic as I cannot see my opponents, very disconcerting.

The Mercedes is not bad to drive with TC2 TBH, but Trial mountain is poor for racing as the first few turns are always a mess and cause chaos. It sounds great though and I quite like the powerslide you can get in this thing. Hoping to dip into the 5's tonight if possible.
Just take your time learning the wheel. I was hopeless on mine for close to 5 months. Was around then that I started testing some dailies. I focused on retrying a lot of thr license and missions on wheel. And did all the weekly challenge races until I was in a spot where I wasn't going to be a huge menace to other drivers. But it's come along well since then.

Been rocking daily A and it's a shame so few people try it. That car is a blast to sling around. Had 1 or 2 races with wide gaps everywhere but a lot of ones where it's nice and close. Normally like Brands so wanting to check that out next.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's a slow process eh, that's why Race A only so I don't ruin anyone's DR.

I find I miss a lot of apexes, I am turning in too late and I think because on dpad one had to really square up the corner and I am looking forbthat line rather than carrying speed mid corner with an earlier turn in.

I am also struggling with awareness, I am using bonnet view so no rwarview mirror, on pad I was using chase cam but that feels wrong on a wheel. I've no real sense where people are, hoping it comes with time.

It's a fun race with the merc, I am very competitive with B drivers until the last corner where I get eaten alive, I am so, so slow through that chicane.

I'm back at it after taking the holiday weeks off. Race B is my pick for this week and I hope I can get my DR up to Rank A by the end of the year. I tried the one of the BMW cars, Sprint/Endurance I don't know, and set a time of 2:01.9XX. I entered a race but the car was sliding around to much for my liking and I did spin in the esses and finished P12.

So, I switched to the GT-R and saw an improvement in both handling and quick time. I'm down to a 2:01.6XX with lots of room for improvement. I should be a good week for me as Suzuka is one of my favorite tracks to race at.

Unrelated to Gran Turismo, but I also got into Balatro recently and I'm having fun with it.

OMG I am crapping my pants!! The mystery problem just gave itself away very aggressively! It's the wheel - the friggin DD Pro wheel seems to have suddenly died!?!

  1. Glitch happened a few more times
  2. Next lap the wheel went limp and it was like it is no longer connected (no buttons work, etc) but the power button was still glowing blue to show connection to PS5
  3. Turned wheel off, removed it from hub and connected again and turn it on. Power button again is blue, wheel does its rotation as normal but pressing the PSN button does nothing and cannot connect.
  4. Turned the wheel completely off again (including power outlet) and waited for the power unit thing to also turn off.
  5. Switched on again and this time, not even the wheel screen turned on!?! The wheel still did the rotation and button still lights blue but nothing on the wheel screen and PSN button also does nothing...
Am I screwed?! Anyone knows what this is? Not how I wanted 2025 to kick off! 😭💩⚰️
Sounds rubbish mate and I just got to the other side of my fanatec issues which ended with me buying a new base 🙂‍↕️ be sure to plug it in to a pc and download the new drivers and new firmware, should be 464

That’s all I got 🤷‍♂️

I’m no expert and your issues sound more serious than what I was experiencing with my DD pro (random disconnection), but I resolved it completely by ditching the supplied usb cable and using one I got with a Logitech keyboard! So may be worth a try if not already done.

Couple of things to try:

Remove the wheel shaft, re seat it and tighten the clamp again (upgrade the clamp to an O clamp rather than the single screw D clamp)

Power everything off and turn the PS on first then power on the wheel.

Try using the USB port at the front of the PS as this doesn't get as hot as the back ones.

Question: do you get the controller disconnected pop up?

At the time when it happened, no notification, which is even more worrying! After work today will try to check for firmware update, will check the shaft clamp and see if I have a better USB cable (I already attach to front port of PS5) and hopefully something fixes it! If not, will be writing an angry email to Fanatec (wheel set bought June 2023 so should be in warranty still) but I am aware their customer service is way below par..

It's nice to see some old members come back after a long hiatus, @NevilleNobody and @Redneckchef. Welcome back to the daily race club. How's life been going for you two? I don't own a wheel anymore because some of the settings are confusing and I may get a leg or foot cramp by pressing on the pedals, plus I don't think it will help me that much. And it would be even harder to keep up with the crowd in certain races that are tuned. Well I need to work on some more laps at Suzuka and Brands Hatch. Now, what car to choose. That's the million dollar question.

Race C at Brands for me this week - it usually gives me some good results, and hasn't disappointed so far.

4 races yesterday were enough to get my SR back to the top of S, DR I'm less worried about, but I've been saved from dropping to C!

Went 9th to 3rd, 8th to 3rd, 12th to 4th, and 12th to 6th - usual story, keeping it on track whilst others are running off track is the key to good results.

I know how that feels gaining SR back. And make sure not to get hasty and accidentally hit the back of an opponent like I did back last year. It happened several times over a 7 month period and I received contact penalties like crazy. So annoying and baffling.

Good to see you again too Chris, life is OK, thanks for asking.

I've decided to embrace the journey, it is very tempting to keep cross referencing my pace with a controller as I am inevitably quicker but there's an immersion to the wheel that feels right.

This is the axle drift problem. You need to loosen the axle clamp, reseat the axle and then tighten the clamp back up to 14NM.

If you’re still using the original clamp then it is crap. You should replace it with a stronger two bolt model.

I did this and my disconnect issues went away and it has been reliable for well over a year now.

Fanatec Customer Service is hopeless. Just buy a new clamp (assuming that’s the issue) and be done.

What’s going on in race b these days, mid B lobbies and being constantly punted off when ppl can’t get past?

Why bother risking a 4 sec penalty and just stay where you are?

I guess this is sprint racing tactics?

It was the clamp and also I needed to update everything 😂 Wheel, base, software, etc.... Seems to be fine now - did an OLED, LCD and FFB test plus calibrated wheel and looks ok! Was annoying that a 0.001mm separation of the clamp was the route cause!

It's the influx of new players I'm guessing and those that haven't played for a while returning.

I have noticed a lot of people I haven't seen before in my lobbies which is different.

Well Tuesdays debacle was a certain pink coloured car who started on pole and proceeded to go slow and whack everyone off who tried to pass and chaos ensued - really bizarre and never seen such silly stuff

I guess I’m most frustrated because I get one race at lunch and I’m managed to get the time down slowly and I’m met with this garbage

Raarrr 🤣🤣

It’s my name 😁 not really very imaginative I know 🤣
Those in the know pronounce it Be Rockey

Don't let that lowercase fool you ;)

Cross replied, apologies mods please merge. Sorry.

That sucks just on the limited time front. When said driver is doing that there is usually some sort of issue with someone/people in the lobby.

I had 2 very fast and very clean races with said person but have also had a few not so fun ones as well.

My tact now is just to race him cleanly, I don't think they have an issue with me personally. Avoid what you see other people doing things like ramming or barging past etc, just play his game and this applies to almost all of us the guy is damn fast and in our lobbies if wanted to win he could easily.

The mind boggles sometimes as to the behaviour but I don't let it drag my day down. It's part and parcel sadly of online gaming :(

hahahaha I thought it may have been a reference to late, great Peter Brock.
There’s a Brock I’ve never heard of! Maybe a distant relative 🤣 I don’t tend to to bump into many Brocks, but on his wiki page there’s a few! Even a team Brock 💪

I’m liking that 😆
