Ever join a daily race qualy, do a decent lap....I mean you have more but a decent lap...... then look at the times your friends set and your first reaction is to go to car settings to start adding more hp only tonrealise BOP is applied.

Chastening.

I'm a solid 5 seconds shy at road atlanta. Ouch.
Uhhh...I call that Monday. Am I doing it wrong??🤣

Have had a couple of good races in Race C, although it's basically just a drag race. The bump drafting is annoying too, not only because it renders the leading car a sitting duck, but it prevents the clean race bonus

The other problem with Race A is that the lack of DR adjustment means that you just keep seeing the same drivers in every race. When you're 3 seconds slower than the guys at the front, it makes for some pretty boring races.

In each race I did yesterday, the race broke up into two groups, the fast guys near the front who just ran off into the distance, and then a big gap back to the other half of the field scrapping for the lower places!

Race C seems to be mainly about the stability of the rig, if there is one. The steering wheel is just shaking badly the whole time. I used my most humane preset and it's still bad and I haven't even talked about the race itself. Let's see what happens in B, otherwise we'll just have to do A again.

Additionally, as I've mentioned in the past, the only negotiable factor is SR. And assuming you start with 99, the only way is down. Then we begin the messy conversation of what happens if you have an SR nightmare and then your DR will take a tumble, too!

Often these are the most interesting races, with the most nuanced driving lessons, and yet it's a perennially slippery slope.

There seems to be a high tolerance on SR - I only saw one SR down in 6 races yesterday (and no, it wasn't me!)

How do i do those cool helicopter Ariel replays?

Best I could find, nothing from a helicopter....😁

Kidding aside, those are from the Music Replay. Big thanks to @GOTMAXPOWER for mentioning in here. Had no clue and it's a nice option.

During my races on the alt yesterday I tried out some cars:

Vette - Pretty good. Not great, but decent enough to be competitive.

Viper - This thing is a monster on acceleration. If you're starting behind a turbocharged car, you'll likely gain a spot before T1; it also has good top end. Maybe having Toothless on the rear wing helped some. :D But, it's Achilles's heal us gobs of understeer.

Mustang - Don't bother.

GT-R 13 - Figured I'd give this old girl a whirl as I wanted to rock my custom @sturk0167 livery. Unfortunately, after he made this livery the 2018 model was released and the once META 2013 car was BoP'ed into a driving roadblock. But hey, that's what alts are for!

I did one qual lap in it and clocked a 50.1 (1.6 seconds off my Genny time). Started P3. Had some good battles with a couple Lambos (and boy was it inherent how good those MR cars are on the infield).

Good racing with you last night.

I hate CS tires! I’ll give Race A more chances this week, but the tire choice really makes the race less desirable for me.
Yeah it was good, I got my delta to my friends down to just over a second so need to find more pace. That race was actually going really well, i was pleasantly surprised but I made a small error, got a penalty then got absolutely mugged and pushed off the road by everyone.

It's from Music Replay, you have to fake the genre and composer selection and pick a song that you turned off in your music repertory. You can't pick the camera you want but you can get lucky.

Here is the YouTube link I got from GOTMAXPOWER.

Thanks for sharing this vid, some great info in there!

@NAXEHT @GOTMAXPOWER

Nice to see you in Race A this afternoon. I was playing in only my 2nd race of the week and the gap was absolutely inevitable!

As much as I love this combo, trundling along alone in 4th with my only real concern being a missed braking point by the guy behind me isn't really doing it for me.

It's a shame Sport Mode doesn't have enough scope to provide interesting combos like this with more laps/weather/strategy.

I hate to say it, but at least 15 years ago, i was sure, the next Gran Turismo will have everything you mentioned and tbe graphics will blow my mind.... Well, i saw ps5 GT on a superb TV and it looks fantastic. So, at least we have that

Race A is beautiful!!!

Nice to see you in there last race, @benjoi84 ! Well done on coming through all that traffic without a qualifying time 😊
Absolutely!

And wouldn't you know my luck would have it, after your encouragement, I went and had a good quali session only for the matchmaking to do me in. After a trio of non-quali races with drivers mostly with intimidating A-pluses next to their names, I set myself a respectable time and got thrown in at the head of the pack...

So much for seeing you out there, @ElectricNaz !

At least the next two races were great for my SR repair mission, and they bore a couple of screen grabs just like yours there ;)

Had more Race C last night and went right downhill. Kept making mistakes when reacting to other drivers doing strange things and getting dropped into the trailing pack where it's Death Race 2025 edition. Tanked my SR because of the wonderful low DR armor and now the lobbies are crazy.

So hard to get going when the B/B driver doesn't brake for turn 1 and clears through and then does it again a few times. It's luck of the draw who eacapes and I lost all of them. Also had a strange moment where the car locked up and drove straight on at Indianapolis. Was going slow and braked early and it just sailed straight on. Race was already a mess and that made me just give up for that one.

I did wonder that, as I saw you set a really good qualifying time but then you weren't in my lobby anymore 😭

It would be nice if PD thought "these guys are friends on the game, maybe we should put them in the same lobby given they both have similar DR and laptimes" 😂😂😂

I'm reluctant to race this week at all, not worried about DR or SR as I can get those things back but just the whole fun while racing equation looks a bit knife edge and the races aren't massively appealing (this is in my opinion, mileage varies on this stuff so eye of the be holder etc)

I just personally don't think that GV is a good racing circuit, and le man is well a bit over done in the 1 make meta race with no strat etc.

Yes MX5s are fun but with no skin in the game a bit anti climatic.

Odd week in my opinion

There's a lot of tracks that are not great for actual racing and GV is one of them. Good for driving for the sake of it but racing is terrible. The Mazda's are fun little cars, could do with 50 more HP but the track is tricky, lots and lots of ways to get a penalty.
I agree mostly but would say that Atlanta is one of the easier tracks, it has 2 corners that can be tricky but easy to learn. But it's essentially a drag car circuit in most classes.

GV is too unforgiving for the pace and the nature of the run off areas or walls. Stunning to look at in VR though. But it's not engineered for encouraging racing as you say the corners are designed for road cars with a few racing liberties in the design thrown in.

Both those corners are worth several tenths and you need to kerb hop to be fast, hence the penalties can come thick and fast in the game causing havoc. It almost feels like Bathurst without the flow and elevation.

Man I hate having a week off shift that coincides with combos I can't be bothered with. A is likely the best of the bunch and I will probably QT a bit more, but not race.

This is gonna be a week for making a lot of liveries!

I might start working on a 2nd UK account - wish you could just start immediately and not have to work through the challenges and licenses first

That's not really the case though.

There is no where you need to drive over the curbs anywhere different to other tracks and we aren't even talking about the very very weird track limits at Red Bull Ring for T1 and T2/3 depending on how you measure corners.

You can do sector 1 at Atlanta with competitive pace not hitting the curbs but that is a nuance I appreciate is probably not the norm when chasing ghosts.

But this is distracting from the fundamental issue that the racing is polarising for a lot of people.

I dunno man, the blind right at the top of the hill, you gotta take a CHUNK out of that kerb to save time and then god help you on the left at the bottom of the hill, you need to take a lot of the kerb on the left and not to wide on the right. All i know is, cars light up like Xmas trees with penalties after sector 1.
