GT7 Online races pulling my hair out

Won't know till we see a demo. I'm going to assume we're eventually getting somewhere. 🤷‍♂️
Come on, wants a top time uses or "hears" the clutch. Seriously?

We can always ask hollo or ebrahim to weigh in but that's is ridiculous.

My time is done on this thread and I'd wager yours probably is to.

Edit: I'm 7000th hours in to this game, platinum A/S rated on 3 accounts and I can't tell if you are using a clutch or not which you can't actually do in sports mode as shifters (and by proxy) aren't allowed.

Use your noddle mate.

Yes, it's a very bizarre inquiry, but this whole thread is nothing short of bizarre, soo...at this point I'm not surprised by anything anymore.

That's fine, but I wanna see where this goes. Take care 💪
See my edit.

You chase that virtual chat, I for one am out. Go forth an conquer 👍

I think you mean lap

No.
I just thought I would pop in for a flying visit, 😲

Curious is there something your doing with controller when changing gears to stop the clunking noise on gear change

No matter what car I I've tried with a controler, on every gear up change there is a split second clunking noise, which I find so off putting. I'm so use to having a clutch to on a controller on Xbox but there isn't one on my dual sense controller

Which I'm also disappointed with.

Edit i will have a demo. For the weekend that's when I'm now back home

When you’re shifting, try easing off the throttle slightly before the gear change, just like you would in a real car.

tried that and I still get the clunking noise on every gear up change.

Curious does that stop the clunking noises for you when you gear up,.do they go all together ?

Yeah, that usually stops the clunking for me when I time it right, like letting off the throttle a bit before shifting. If it’s still happening for you, maybe try messing with the controller’s sensitivity settings or dead zones, that can sometimes smooth it out.

I've looked for that setting to and I can't find it, the only setting I can find is in the controller setting when in game, the only thing I can change is steering sensitivity and trigger stiffness.

In the option menu the only other thing I can change is the button configuration but theres no clutch option, very disappointing it's not there for a clutch on this dual sense controller. I wondered if there is any controller that has a clutch for the ps5. As I'm so accustomed to it on Xbox, I would regular practice with both wheel and controller, for many reason main being improving skills.

I'm pretty sure I tried your technique when I was at home, and it wasn't making a difference, I never bothered to check on my friends controller to see if the same issue was happening.

But anyhow with all the helpful info I have here I'll know for sure soon what's going on with my lap times.

All in all there not to bad i did 10 consecutive laps of 1.35 low end.

My friend informed me as soon as you start doing that in the online sport classes they should bump you up a league where there will be less rammers 😊

Clutch is only supported on wheels that have an H-shifter attached. And even then, it's only allowed in game for cars that actually do use it (so not for cars with sequential shift) - and it's disabled in Sport mode completely.

No way 🥴 that's very disappointing

So basically I have to learn a whole new skill on my wheel to be competitive in the sport mode,..

Thanks anyway i could have practiced for ages on the wheel before noticing, as I've yet to use the wheel on online sport mode.

But why don't Sony just create online sport classes for wheel clutch separately and controllers separately ?
or even allow a controler with a clutch

Your friend seems to have quite a few misconceptions.

The way GT7's online "classes" work is... well-documented on here. In essence you gain DR (Driver Rating) points from everyone you beat in a race and lose DR points to everyone that beats you in a race. The amount you gain/lose depends on the difference in DR points between the drivers at the start of the race - so you gain more by beating players with more points than you and lose more by losing to players with fewer points than you. Ultimately the exchange of DR point across all of the drivers adds up to zero in all but a few edge cases.

You'll need to beat more drivers than beat you, more often, to rise in the DR ranks.

That has nothing to do with "rammers". Contact with other cars (and track furniture, and running off-track) is measured by SR (Sportsmanship Rating), which is almost entirely independent of DR.

Higher DR lobbies do not necessarily result in fewer rammers. Indeed they're more likely to result in races where the players are good enough to game the SR and penalty system in order to not get penalised too harshly for even deliberate acts.

This is not Forza. If I remember correctly, in Forza the clutch can be abused really badly. Not sure if still the case though.

It's been disabled in Sport mode to even the playing field, so this abuse does not work and will never be a factor.
The majority are race cars with sequential shifting anyway.

Even if this were a factor, it would be nowhere near enough the 4 seconds you are claiming you could reach with it

Regarding the clutch sound... May I suggest it's merely a matter of different audio levels? There are different settings for engine/tyre squeal/transmission IIRC

, clutch abuse ? I've not heard of that but how is that possible ? For me it makes no sense as why Sony would endorse and license makers of wheels and clutches but yet disabled there clutch in online sport races, are you saying clutch abuse is the reason why Sony do this

For me using a clutch keeps the revs up on gear change, i remember once I had a sticky clutch button and I would slightly ease of the accelerator then rev up right after changing gear just like what what member suggested here, maybe this was the familiar noise I was hearing on tunes demo I would only lose a second a lap but still a second means a lot to me, I want to be on it consecutively.

on the online sport there's nothing you can change apart from assist setting

In GT7 (and GT Sport) when using a car with a manual gear box anyone with an H shifter had an advantage as they could change gear much faster than controller and wheel/paddle users. This is because the game simulates a delay in the shift to make it more "realistic". There were also exploits in being able to combine the H shifter and paddle shifts to quickly change up through the gears.

Unfortunately PD's solution (again, not Sony) was to not allow H shifters in Sport Mode races. This was done several years ago and seems uikely to change.

Oh I see that's not good thanks.for the info ..yeah I've noticed that there seems to be some consideration in gt sport mode to make it fair, but this is all new to me, who's pds ?

opting to stay out of multiplayer fow now untill I can build a good friends list just for private racing,.

My friend informed me he got bumped up a class just now in sport mode and all racers where where consecutively doing 1.35 to 1.37 around kyota in an online sport race. He said it was so much better than the previous class he was in.

Hopefully within a couple of weeks I'll have the whole lot figured out.

I don't have PS+.
pc ?

Polyphony Digital. The developer. Sony are the Publisher and aren't involved the the development of the game.

This is why some people think you're trolling. You can't have missed the number of times you've been corrected on this.
The only thing I know about trolls is they end up burning there bridges.

I'm not even responding to accusations in case you've not noticed 😊
