I like to clean out my ears with q-tips and wash my face and rinse my hair before use. (I use the earbuds)

Even if I took a shower that morning, I'll basically rinse off my entire head in the sink before use.

Helps keep grease and skin flakes to a minimum.

Ah. That makes sense. I will turn the track back on in game. It's been a long time since I've played to music.

I use apple music. Ps5 has spotify as well if you have an acct. In game stuff gets old pretty quickly. Setting a station to a song you like to drive too is better. Part of me thinks the familiarity helped.

I tried for about ten minutes last night before my head and stomach caved in but I was able to nearly catch my time in the TT at Goodwood, so that seems very promising once I can acclimatize. Lots to read in here.

If anyone has any quick tips and pointers I'm all ears!

You have some solid advices in the past quotes.
I will add a few tips that can help to ease the first attempts on VR

• Focus ahead, dont look to the sides
• If you spin just close your eyes.
• Dont try to drive in reverse
• Use only slow open wheelers
• Avoid tracks with cambered turns or elevations (Monza is a very good track for starters)

I have pretty much same experience as everyone here, do everything they have advised. World of difference.


For me at least, in the beginning I found not wearing headphones seemed to help if I was feeling sick. I actually don’t even use game sound and just play Sirius, or old YouTube tapes of Eric. I get plenty of engine sound/db’s out in the field(site) all day.

Def Use a fan even if you’re already cold. I use a pedestal that oscillates in 4 directions, and I pretty much blast it.

Globular cluster right away. I put 2 strips of gaffers tape on the forehead mount, the outside wing sections of the mount did not want to stay hooked in the headset. Buy this product right away, get overnight shipping if it’s offered.

I put these mini tarpaulin tent clips on the headband slider. This made a huge difference. They prevent the headrest from squeezing your head. Sometimes you get a headache from the headband tension. With the clips in place you can stretch the band open to put on your head, and when you let go it only squeezes as far as you want. Same fitment every time without pressure. Once you have the GC and clips adjusted, you can put your headset on and off and it’s centered and basically hovering on your head the moment it goes on. Minimal eye adjusting. Don’t pinch the wires on the inside of the band.

Always have drink ready. I only use the headset on the actual track. Use the options button to center yourself where you want in the car. Every car is different. The RSR the steering wheel is all up in your face. The shift lights are like in my nose. I reset every time I drive that car. So when I’m resetting I lean forward and down just a bit.

Sport mode I don’t put the headset on until youre at the track and cars start moving. You have plenty of time to put the headset on and check eyes during the short formation lap. Wait until after the matchmaking. Any short break helps until you get used to it. Once your headset is on race starts, I wait until the 3 appears then hunch a little as it counts down then I’m where I want to be without options button to center. Nice thing is you can pause in sport mode then reset your center without incident. I use pause/autodrive all the time lol Major shout out to autodrive!

Then it’s just seat time, have fun! The first time you go into a series of corners battling 2-3 cars wide, and you can look all around you will be hooked.

Expanding on what EricTheActor said about centering:

If you hit the lower right button on goggles and pause the game, you can lean forward or back a little while paused, then stay in that position while you hit button again to go back into game. You can use regular pause buttons too.. I just always use that button on the goggles.

If you are leaning forward while going back into game, your seat position will be farther back.

If you lean back while going back into game, your seat position will be farther forward.

Same with up or down position. That's a little "hack" to adjust your in-game seating position or point of view.

It won't stick between session or after you pause again.

Usually I want to be a little farther back and lower than standard position so in that case I pause, lean forward and crane neck up a little bit, hit that button again while still in that position, and then as soon as you start driving, sit back to natural position. This lets you see more of cockpit and wheel while driving.

Thats a good hack idea, to try and move your head placement to the right a little to give more room on the left before the dredded black cage appears. I finally re-golded the S-1 Lambo @ HSR yesterday. Fighting that flickering on those cambered turns is.....annoying to say the least, made it 10x harder than it needed to be. Moving onto re-gold the masters now with the new physics.

Yup I forgot it does work left and right as well.

I usually try to get me view more towards the center of the car if I'm in a right-hand-drive car since I'm so used to driving a left-hand-drive car IRL.

It helps me with knowing where the corners of the cars are in VR. Not a problem on flat screen bumper view for example.

I've got a weird bone growth on my forehead that any headwear I put on will aggravate after a period of time. The GC looks just like a hard hat band I prefer for work so that's an easy spend.

I'm about to jump in for session 2. Going to try an actual race instead of just a few TT laps.

It's a completely different game in VR, it's like you're actually IN the game.

It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't tried VR. I'm one of those weirdos who still plays on flat screen with a controller for fun, and even for time trials just for an initial run and to check them out.

But I'm almost always faster in VR. I bet you'll end up being consistently faster once you get used to VR.

My wife was laughing listening to me play because I couldn't stop saying wow. It was pretty funny. I've read some people can't get close to their times at first but literally first lap I tried I was well into gold at the Goodwood trial with the Megane and within my ten minute session I found a .25.3xx which is nearly top 500.

Being faster was not why I wanted this thing, but if it's a side product, I'm going to be very happy!!!

😆 Yeah it's a lot of fun and the cool part is it doesn't ever get stale, even when you get completely used to it.

And yeah I know you're already very fast, but it'll be interesting to see if VR helps you get even faster.

Yes, keeping the face and head oil and sweat to minimum is definitely helpful. Along those same lines, I always use a skull cap/helmet sock. I got a couple packs of 6 of them from Amazon so family and friends can try it out without any of us feeling gross about it. You can get a 6 pack for 10 bucks or less.

I've thought about getting one of those thin scull caps but always forget to buy one. I'd like to try one and see what it's like. I wonder if the Globular Cluster mod would slide around on it or not.
