So, been a while since I've played GTAV as I lost interest. But decided to give it another chance and y'know? I'm actually enjoying it. Mainly as I'm exploring, which I didn't do enough of before. Turns out there's so many places in the game I've not visited.
Best way of doing that? A road trip!
Set off late at night in my van, heading eastward from my apartment (3 Alta, apt 57) towards the Tataviam Mountains.
As dawn broke I headed down the other side, eventually reaching the wind farm:
As you approach the freeway, it's a question of where to go next - I swung by the power station for no real reason...
...before heading further north to Catfish View
Couldn't resist a spin on the boat, and later discovered the submersible hidden around there (not pictured).
By that time, the evening started drawing in.
I rejoined the freeway and continued to head north:
...before reaching the beach on the northernmost point of the map, and briefly setting up camp:
Then came my mistake. I joined a race that popped up on screen. Called "Nurburgring" - if it ever appears, do it, it's a fantastic circuit. But because it dropped me back in Tongva Valley, I had to drive back up to Paleto Bay to continue my road trip. I did so, joining a track running parallel to the beach.
This track has... how can I put it... a sodding massive gap in it. And if you approach from the north heading south, the ramp over this gap is a little too small to launch you high enough to clear it...
...so that was the end of the road trip. Couldn't free the van whatever I tried, so had to blow it up and claim on the insurance. Next time, I shall take a different route around the beach...
I shall at some point do another road trip. One of the missed aims of this one was to climb each of the game's mountain peaks. May take a vehicle that can actually get up them all, too...
