Car makers don't put massive TURBO texts in a side of their cars anymore* that tells us that the TURBO boom is gone. Still cool, because TURBO made car names sound better.

If anythihng, the turbo boom is today. Everyone is producing extremely advanced and efficient turbo engines and not just for the more performance-oriented models. And then everyone has a performance-oriented model that's turbocharged. Hell even Chevrolet for God's sake. And the performance of factory turbo engines today is amazing. And when it comes to the aftermarket it's absolutely incredible. The turbo era is today.

I agree that turbocharging is big right now, but it isn't what car makers use in marketing anymore (apart from Porsche) for example Ford isn't naming their engines Turboboost they're naming them Ecoboost, because that sells the car.

Turbos helped bring performance cars to where they are today. The latest crop of forced induction cars using turbos to provide just as much (if not more) power and more torque as their N/A predecessors whilst also being more efficient is cool. Plus the technology to reduce lag is improving all the time.

Having owned and driven both NA and turbo charged cars, I personally prefer the power delivery of a free-revving NA engine. Don't get wrong, I loved my turbo'd Lancias, but NA's feel more natural to drive IMO. Cool.

Cars aren't the only things that use turbochargers:

Hence cool.

^^^ Very true. But in certain cars, the addition of turbo's make it even more badass.

Therefore, all Buick GN's and Turbo Regals are a huge

Omg, I voted sub zero, but the turbocharger vs. supercharger vs. natural aspiration debate is making me think I should have voted seriously uncool. I should have known it was going to come up...
