When are the votes tallied and results posted?

The Darwin Award is advice that should lead to the Best Turnaround/Most Improved Award the following year.
A Darwin award might motivate a member to improve, but even more commonly, the user feels embarassed, and even angry, about getting a Darwin award. In fact, getting the Darwin award was a big reason why @JMoney left this place. And why is it an award, since no one wants one. I never got one, since I only joined four months ago, but I can assume that getting a Darwin award doesn't do much more than embarass a member.

That seems unlikely as after he received it he became a Premium Member, changed his name and continued to use the site for 4 months...

Personally I'd say that the timing of him no longer visiting the site matches more closely to the Cool Wall thread on his truck...

And why is it an award, since no one wants one.
Just like the Razzies. Or the actual Darwin Awards.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly are the Razzies? I did not see it mentioned in the GTP Awards categories.

They are real life film awards.

The Darwin Awards are also real life awards - though commonly, if not exclusively, real death awards.

The Darwin Award tends to be a way for users to say "nothing against you, but take a chill pill". If you look at previous winners, they usually fall in that category. Users who take the site too seriously/think they can win an argument with @Famine.

Oh I know, I was saying users who are opposed can't change it. Although I'm not sure how many people understand the turnaround part.

I understood it.

Yes. It should. In a perfect world.

For those offended by it however - there is no obligation to vote on it. In fact, no obligation to vote at all - it isn't OFFICIAL GTPlanet awards. It's a schoolboy lark - let's not take it too seriously.
Sure the AUP says:
  • You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group.

. . . but let's not harassor threaten, or look down upon anybody because their style doesn't immediately fit the dogma, let's just make it a dig in the ribs. JMHO.

I agree, the darwin award is formed from sheer ego.

Surely your Id must be confused at the former request for 'Zedman'? :boggled:

Anyone getting a Darwin Award should know that the offense is taken, not given. If they choose to be offended then that's up to them, no harm is meant by it.

This post offends me.

Well, looks like votes have stopped coming in now. I'll complete the tally in the next few days. :)

There's a lot this year!
I thought it would be too late to vote now but I have some free time today for the first time in a while. I'll have a look at the categories today & send some votes in.

Last call, Ladies and Gentlemen! Get the bloody votes in before DQuan puts his glass down and shambles off to start counting.

Here's to trophies this year for which the guy at the hock shop will actually give us money.
