Yes - Mamaghi's thread is very good and he has kindly advertised "Ford Ferrari Wars" on his thread for me.
Yes, Mamaghi's thread is pretty good. But I believe that your thread and his thread will help some hosts to gain more drivers to their series. I'll send you an message.

GTP Classix Club News

The long awaited Community Features are now here, but as only one club can be hosted by one PSN ID I have set up "Sick's Race Room" as my club in GT6.

GTP Classix Club will continue on GT Planet - if it is decided to set it up in GT6, it will be managed by a new Host (or Sick Cylinder via a new PSN ID).

Exciting new championships are coming to "Sick's Race Room" in 2015 including...

Winter - Spring

Trans Am 1 & 2 and Can Am Championships start on 4th January with a test day on 28th December - join this championship if you want - beginners or experienced racers are welcome. ABS and Driving Line are optional and some cars are run tuning prohibited - all clean drivers welcomed from all countries. The thread has been updated with a great new video of the 1971 Trans Am season.

The Cobra Coupe Shootout - using replicas of the classic Willment, AC A98 and Shelby Cobra Coupes and Avon Tour of Britain 1973 - an event inspired by James Hunt's winning tour driving a Chevrolet Camaro - those Championships start on 26th April with a test day on 19th April. The thread has been updated with Avon tour video clips from 1973 featuring James Hunt (Chevy Camaro)and 1974 featuring Jody Scheckter (Ford Capri). The Track schedule has been revised and is inspired mainly by the 1965 schedule for the World Sports Car Championship (the over 2 litre class was won by the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe). The Schedule has also been inspired by James Hunt's 1973 Avon Tour of Britain - this fabulous event was for road legal cars costing over £1,500 or under £1,500 and used a mix of UK race circuits and rally special stages. In round 4 we replicate the rally stages by all using an untuned Nissan Bluebird rally car in time trial mode on dirt, at night on dirt and in pitch black night on the tarmac of Mount Panorama.

Inspired by classic cars and races from the 1950's, '60's and '70's, but using substitute cars - Monzanapolis 1958 and the great Nascar and Open Wheeler races held at Riverside. Some flavour from Pathe 1958:

And Riverside 1965:

Congratulations to Pimiki for winning all three championships in the last series - Cobra Coupe Shootout, Avon Tour of Britain 1973 and the Team Trucks challenge.

A very successful test meeting was held on Sunday 5th July for the new Monzanapolis series which starts with Round 1 on Sunday 12th July. Race 1 is for the Plymouth XNR, Race 2 Nascar road racing - these big, heavy, powerful cars are great fun to drive on a road course. Race 3 is for the Formula GT. A pace car driver has been recruited to help get the Formula GT's off the line safely - this change was introduced following some first lap incidents during the test races.

There are still a couple of spaces on the grid - so signup quickly! Full details available by clicking on the link near the top of page one of this thread.

Testing has concluded for this autumn's Historic BSCC 2 championship and some changes have been made to power levels and tyres. Final testing is still to be completed on AMOC 80 Intermarque. Full details available by clicking the link near the top of page one of this thread.

Testing has concluded for 2016's Historic BSCC 3 championship which is dedicated to one of the all time greats of BSCC (now known as BTCC) - three time BSCC champion Frank Gardner. Support for this series will come from the "Frank Gardner Boss 302 Challenge Cup" which is for the Ford Boss 302 2013 tuning prohibited on standard sports hard tyres. This series commemorates Frank's 1970 season when he drove a Mustang Boss 302.

If you are interested, there are spaces for reserve drivers - you would start as a reserve and after attending a few rounds would be promoted to permanent driver subject to space. Beginners or online novice drivers are welcome as well as drivers of all ability levels - we just ask that you try to race cleanly. If you are interested send a message to Sick Cylinder. Click on the link below for detailed information.

Congratulations to Pimiki on winning both the Monzanapolis (Plymouth XNR) and Nascar Road Racing championships.

The new Championships - "1967 Three Ten Cup" and "1966 Sports Car Cup" are now full - we have the full complement of 16 Regular Drivers and 6 Reserve Drivers, however if you would like to join I can add you to the waiting list to take a reserve slot if someone leaves the series. Round 2 is next from Brands Hatch 1980's. You can keep an eye on the thread by clicking the link in my signature.

In view of the popularity of the new championship I am currently working on ideas for other championships based on replicas of Le Mans grids from the 1960's - hopefully one can be added to our 2016 programme.

It was a great surprise to be awarded GTPlanet member of the week recently - thanks very much to everyone who nominated me!

GTP Classix News

First Congratulations to SimbaLora and Pimiki for winning their respective classes in Historic BSCC 2 and also big congratulations to Harsk for winning the AMOC championship.

The big news is that after nearly five relatively trouble free years of racing on a Sunday, following seemingly endless and incurable problems with network instability and disconnections leading to the total cancellation of four championship rounds we have come to the conclusion that online championship racing is no longer possible at weekends. We have therefore moved to Wednesday and Friday evenings from 20:30-21:30 GMT (BST between end of March and end of October). This has involved much work with threads, race programmes, track lists, simplification of championships etc, but much of that work is now complete. All Sick Cylinder championships are now held in club 1000875.

We are ready to start our new series Wednesday Cobras and Friday Rockets with a round 0 test round. A track making competition was held to design tracks suitable for our new series and the joint winners were the very talented @eran0004 for "Maiwald" and the equally talented @IfAndOr for "Shortun".

Prizes have started arriving for our Historic BSCC 3 (Wednesday) and BOSS 302 (Friday) Frank Gardner Tribute championships which start on the 22nd and 24th June respectively. The prizes are 1/43 scale replicas of the 1968 BSCC winning Frank Gardner Ford Escort Twin Cam Mark 1. I am sure the prizes will help make those championships extremely popular, however the only way to guarantee a place on the grid in those championships is to sign up for the current ones - people can either click on the links in my signature or click on the links at the start of this thread which also contains the new publicity posters. The annual programme of events needs to be revised and this will be done as soon as possible.

Testing and design of what may be our final championships on GT6 in the Autumn / Winter have been completed. I will be hosting a tribute series to Dave MacDonald - one of the USA's greatest ever drivers who tragically lost his life in a racing accident in 1964 at the age of just 27. In his brief four year career he notched up 47 wins and 70 podiums in 117 races.

Below the Frank Gardner tribute prizes poster.

If you are an enthusiastic beginner who wants to try online racing we will give you a warm welcome! Over the last five years many of GT Planet's hosts and racers made their first few starts in Sick's Race Room. Our racers are friendly, clean drivers who use wheels or hand controllers. The driving line is available, but not used by the faster drivers. Our series generally use classic cars and are inspired by real events from motor racings history. We also hold events dedicated to the memory of great drivers from the past.

If you are interested in joining us, just send a message to Sick_Cylinder

We still have a few spaces left for Wednesday Cobras and Friday Rockets - I am expecting the next series to be over-subscribed because there are real prizes to be won! Preference for the next series goes to previous competitors so join now to avoid disappointment!
