FYI, 1997 is the first year of the 4th gen SS model And the 4th gen was 1993-1997 for the first half and 1998-2002 for the second half with the LS1 engine.

Only until 2002 when the Terminator Cobras went on sale as a 2003 model. And even still the regular N/A Cobra wasn't exactly slow. Infact the 2001 SVT Cobra is exactly as fast with a manual as the WS6 (and this Firehawk) manual to 60mph. 4.8s-5.2s rated. So it isn't really a "Cobra killer". Just saying...

Yeah, I know it would get Terminated. But if you go with a solid H/C/I package, it will take more than a ported blower, pulley, tune and exhaust for a Termi to walk away from the T/A, though getting a bigger Whipple or KB with supporting mods and it will be right back into the Cobras hands. There's always the off chance the Cobra driver can miss a shift  Birds just eat snakes and stuff...unless it's a very fast and powerful snake

Booyah!

(I know that it is usually in favor of the Cobra, I just had to though )

This car is nod-worthy, it looks aggressive to me and it's got enough power to be considered a modern muscle car. This isn't standing-ovation worthy though.

COOL

The only thing that comes to mind when a see a black Firebird is this guy.

or this guy if a see an older Firebird, Firehawk fire whatever you call it.

so it makes it uncool for me.

Sorry! :nervous: I'll stick with the sixties muscle car.

Ouch.

I'll give this a "cool." It's a WS6 tuned by SLP...what's not to like?

Most part, meaning that it's not everyone.

Seriously a huge percentage of F-body owners I come across are idiots. From the way they drive, to the way they think their car can beat anything under the sun, to the way they don't show respect to other vehicle owners. I just can't respect it, it's like most Jeep owners. Like I said though, it's obviously not everyone, but the overall perception is rather poor.

Stock vs stock is what we need to focus on because anyone can mod any car to beat another car.

I can drop $10,000 in my minivan and outrun that car in that video. ;)

Cool.Nice amount of power, but I think maybe more power for it's weight.

Yeah, I know that, that's why I said it'd be "Terminated". But I still could not help myself, I used to love that video, though in truth, that's probably a stock Cobra, against a not at all stock SS, not exactly fair...

The 4th Gen F-body cars are not the fastest things in the world. But for the time when they were being built they were just about as fast as any other two door rwd sports car in the same price range. (or quicker than some)
Then in 2003, Ford made the better mouse trap.

It's too bad that GM killed off the 4th gen in 2002, I know sales were slumping, but it would have been cool to see it get an LS2 like the GTO had gotten (or the LS6 straight from the Z06 for the Z28 only to restore proper order.) so the Mustang and Camaro/TA could really go head to head with a level playing field for the top trim models.

Though like you said, the previous Cobras were no slouches in their own right. Even the 300hp SN-95 Cobras could get into the fight and hold up their end quite well. (I really would like a black '98 :D)

Make a drag mini-van, it would be fun, haha. I know I've seen videos of turbo Dodge vans floating around the net.

There are 1st gen Caravan owners who've swapped in the SRT4 drivetrain's in their vans and have made them just about insane.

It's cool - even though it was not the fastest thing around, it still had that sixties muscle car appeal... and it was a special edition!

 Famine I'd agree for sure if it was the Ram-Air WS.6 we were talking about, the nostrils on that thing are obnoxious, so are that guy's

More Firehawk Pr0n

Yeah, but considering the other cars that run on that Tollway, that's also pretty slow. :sly:

Yeah, but is it really the car's fault the morons chose to drive it? You might as well ask a woman why she gave birth to a defective baby. 👎

Once again, I don't care who has it, who did what with it, and what it's used for. I'm here for the car. In this case, SLP graced an already solid car, although the perfomance numbers are somewhat meh. If it was factory supported I'm going Sub Zero.. If not, just plain Cool will do.

No it's not the car's fault but it does affect the coolness, if a vehicle attracts idiots then it's not cool. I said the same thing with Jeep's and I can think of quite a few other cars this would hold true on as well.

Coolness is more to do then just how fast something is or how something looks, it's the entire package.

Yes, but people to me don't make the car "the entire package". Going by that rationale, DSM's are utter crap. So are Mustangs, Corvettes, Civics, 3000GT/Stealth RT's, and a whole pile of cars that were technologically advanced for their time or a real treat to drive. The car itself is what is in question here, not the people who drive it.

No, the coolness level of the car is in question here, nothing else. A car can be awesome and be uncool, on the flip side a totally rubbish car could be sub-zero.

I'm not going to comment on the cars you stated because that should be saved for another thread if one of those vehicles are nominated, but I can tell you right now that just because they were technologically didn't make them cool. However they may be cool for other reasons.

Once again, I look at the entire package when determining the coolness level of the car.

Agree to disagree, point taken though. In the case of voting, we chose different things. It's cool though. 👍

Yummy Detroit stuff that happened without me really caring. I kinda like the new Firebirds (one of the few cases where an outrageous body kit is awesome), but a special edition of one? Ehhh. Uncool.

Uncool. Seriously, just look at it. Muscle cars are like, soooo late 60's/early 70's. They're only becoming almost cool again because the 'new' ones are styled like the classic golden era ones.

What sort of person owns a car like this?

Midwesterners? :3

Most guys who I see owning these have jobs and short hair, though, even if they're factory jobs.

A truly national car, aspired to by people in Cali, New York and Texas!

And I can say without hesitation that I would turn into one of "those guys" if I owned one.
