A hand crank?! I understand the time period we're talking about here, but I wonder how many wrists and arms this thing has broken. Gave it a solid cool.

Literally a giant engine, in a skinny-tyred chain-driven tin can. It's a wonder the thing didn't just shake apart on the spot. SZ.

Almost 150mph in the 10s...Jesus H. Christ, that sounds insanity and I love it. And looks like one hell of a mean bastard to drive. Knowing it was one really old car, an achievement done and looks well made...and to my surprise, it's a Fiat. I'm voting this Sub-Zero.

Kinda wonder if Randy Grubb from Blastolene took design inspiration from this vehicle when he made that "Tank Car" for Jay Leno.

Then again, it might be a coincidence. It's a pretty simplistic shape. Quite interesting that they managed to hit 150mph with a 4-cylinder engine over 100 years ago.

I can't imagine how absurdly dangerous this is. But the classy moustaches of the day had everythig under control.

Massive engine, big torque, skinny tires and impossibly awsome facial hair.

Sub Zero.

Lovely read about a land speed record attempt here:

"To engage first, second or third gear is relatively easy, but when it comes to engage fourth whilst travelling at 190 km/h, that is a different story."

"When I cut the throttle off oil pours on to the exhausts and over the 1500 metres the riding mechanic turns completely from white to black, this is no other than Prince Soukhanoff, the perfect sportsman."

"When speeds like these are reached, the smallest bump on the road makes the four wheels airbone at once, which the spectators see perfectly. As for me, I feel it and it reminds me of the time when I was an aviator."

Sub Zero.

That was an amalgamation that took from long-standing themes in hot rodding. It's "just" a hot rod on a fire truck chassis with an engine from a tank--that was really only built to sell to someone lacking the common sense to not buy it.

No hesitation slapping a big ol' SZ on that Fiat, but it's no Chitty Bang Bang. ;)
