That picture really shows how much engines have grown over the years. Just like the cars being powered by them.

It has less to do with years and more to do with overhead cams. A modern LS motor found in GM sports cars is closer in size to the engine on the right.

Just to clarify, both small blocks and big blocks are single cam, pushrod engines. The engine on the left that Slash helpfully posted is neither a "small block" nor a "big block."

Heres a picture of a "big block" vs a "small block." Notice how they look basically the same, unlike the two that Slash posted.

Torque makes everything cool. But the bonus points it get for the horn aren't enough to make it sub-zero material.
