French comfort with Italian stallions. Mmmmm. It sounds so good. And it drives good. And floaty. And sporty if you want to.

French engineering with an Italian engine. Ugh. That sounds awful.
Deliciously unreliable. Green oil everywhere.

Cool. 👍

Very high cool. Oozes class, and few cars on the road would turn heads - even back then I'd imagine - like this thing. The front number/licence plate being encased behind the headlight housing area is such a quirky design element that would've made it cool on its own, regardless of what the rest of the car is like.

Sub-Zero. Classic good looks and elegant styling. It would easily draw a crowd of car people and non-car people alike. I'd rock it all day, everyday.

"SM" sure does a good job of describing your relationship with the car once you've decided to own one. They should really include a ball-gag with purchase.

I will vote the same as others have in other coolwalls.

FF so it is uncool
French so it is more uncool

Clarkson agrees

No matter what the usual suspects say, this car is Sub-Zero, because it just is.

It's so freaking ugly. There are probably about...200? cars from the early seventies I would rather drive.

Seriously Uncool.

How are people calling this ugly???

It looks amazing!

Have some silly (or brilliant) engineering :

Backwards belt accessories driven by an extra shaft bolted to the engine.
From left to right:
Aircon Pump. Oil Pump for all the hydraulics. Alternator.
The green balls are part of the hydro-pneumatic suspension.

I immediately think "testicles" when I see this car. Which as bad as that sounds, it really, really isn't. Not with this car. This is so '70s it hurts. Anything that manages to epitomize the decade it was built in to such an extent just HAS to be cool.

Sub-Zero due to hairy chested, porn moustacioed, gold chain wearing mother:censored: that also has TASTE

You only need to see who is calling the car ugly to just laugh out loud and say "ah".

As for the car, freeeezing.

Quite. If a thread would've been started before this, solely for members to guess as to whom amongst the Cool Wall commentariat would find it ugly, I'm pretty sure they could've all been pegged within 10 posts.

I'll admit to never understanding the appeal of this or the DS when I was a kid. But now? I spotted an SM in the wild here in Toronto last month while driving, and even my girlfriend commented on the speed at which my neck whipped around to follow it. Positively oozes class in a way only the French could manage.

Seriously... what use is it designing a lovely, dart shaped Ferrari if it looks like it's wearing orthodontic braces once you put a number plate on it?
Agreed, although you went and chose one of the ugliest Ferraris to demonstrate.

Does anyone else find the 458 really ugly? No? Okay, I'll just leave then...
