Being uncool is a pickup's raison d'être, it's designed to be a mule. Mules aren't cool.

A truck is still a truck no matter who makes it. It being a Subaru doesn't help matters because that comes with it's own negative connotations. And don't get me started on it's JDM importness.

The BRAT is a FWD-based 4WD car with a boxer 4-cylinder and a cargo bed. It's kind of a pickup truck, sure, but it's further from the prototypical truck than an El Camino. I guess the Baja was a crew cab truck, then.

Nowadays people call a lifted Impreza (XV Crosstrek) a "compact SUV", so whatever.

It is somewhat amusing that Reagan owned and frequently used a vehicle that fell under two completely different protectionist federal automobile policies (and whose entire claim to fame these days is how it got around one of them), though.
