My grandmother had one. The standard version of the Renault 5 was sold in the US as the AMC Le Car. She said it was great until my uncle drove it into a swimming pool.
Uncool. It's a wild, crazy, awesome Group B car for the road. But that matters only to car people. Try taking most any woman for a date in one, and it's an ugly, old, French hatch of questionable build quality, with a loud engine where she was hoping to put her purse.
